B.E. in Computer Engineering - Batch of 2024
Offered by Vidyavardhini's College of Engineering and Technology
1.6

Disappointed with the placements of 2024 batch.
Placements: Only 30–40% of the students were placed in 2024. The highest package was 10 lpa, the lowest was 3 lpa, and the average was also 3 lpa. The top recruiters were TCS, Neebal Infotech, Arcon, etc. 10–15% of students got internships off campus. The top roles were technical and non-technical, like SDE and business analyst.
Infrastructure: There is a Wi-Fi facility available for students. There are limited labs due to the number of students admitted. There is a computer lab, a physics lab, and a chemistry lab. The library has limited books that are reference books mentioned in the university curriculum. There is no hostel facility available.
Faculty: The teachers mostly hold Masters degrees, and some hold Ph.D. Even though they hold Ph.D.s, many of them do not have domain knowledge. Faculty only read PowerPoints and do not have practical knowledge of subjects. The course curriculum is outdated and not relevant to industry.

Overall, it is quite an above average college and in the top 10 in Mumbai.
Placements: More than 80% of the students got placed from the 2019-2020 batch, which is the latest placement record. The highest salary package offered is 12 LPA, the average salary package offered is 4-6 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is 3.5 LPA. Top recruiters are TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Byju's, Amazon AWS, Cognizant, etc. Almost 30-40% of the students from the current batch got internships.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is pretty good, and hygiene is well-maintained within the college campus. There are enough labs and equipment for training. The library is above average. The canteen is average, but annual sports events are conducted to promote games and sports.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified in terms of education. Teachers are helpful in internships, academics, etc. Their quality of teaching is average. The course curriculum is not relevant, and it only focuses on theoretical knowledge and learning concepts, which are not sufficient for getting industry-ready.

I am absolutely satisfied with VCET.
Placements: The college provides the best placements. The highest salary package offered was 22 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was 2.5 LPA. Many companies, like Infosys, Capgemini, Bristlecone, etc., visited our college for placements. Students were offered different roles in various companies as a junior software engineer. Teachers are very helpful.
Infrastructure: Now labs in our college are Wi-Fi enabled. Each floor had LED monitor showing achievement of respective departments. There are girls common room as well as boys common rooms. The quality of the food served in the canteen is good. Hostels are available in the nearby locality.
Faculty: Faculty members of this college are very helpful. They complete the whole course curriculum on time. They help students whenever they are in need. They are very friendly. We had different faculty for different subjects. The course curriculum is a little outdated which it needs to consider. Moreover, it has less focus on practical learning.

3.2

Good college with strict attendance policy, incompetent faculty, and the best administrative staff.
Placements: Infosys which hired about 80 students largely dominated the placement numbers in our college. Majority of them were from CSE and IT branches, and a few others from EXTC, mechanical and civil. A number of other companies that recruited the students were L&T Infotech, Verdantis, etc., to name a few. A significant number of placements took place through pool campuses in other colleges, and the TPO has very well co-ordinated that. Most importantly, our college managed to rope in a number of employers for the students of core branches like mechanical, civil, EXTC, etc., towards the end of the year.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is improving at a good pace. Instrumentation department got a makeover. Computer labs are well-equipped with all the facilities, and necessary software is also installed. A few classrooms still need some renovations. The playground is huge. The food served in the canteen is okay. There's a nice seminar hall. Overall, the campus is decent.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are highly incompetent with a few exceptions. Some of them are really good but left the college. A good teacher can be either good-natured or technically sound, but some teachers are neither. They simply follow the university prescribed old syllabus which gets updated all of a sudden without any training/re-training of the faculty members. The course curriculum has very few good subjects, and the rest are just shoved down forcefully. Faculty members in the first year who teach humanities and applied science and mathematics are better. The ones higher up in the hierarchy have a bloated ego, with false pride of knowing things and a little empathy with competent students.
Other: Around 4 to 5 significant events take place in a year in our college. The biggest of them is Zeal which is a cultural event, and it is also a major crowd-puller. Another one is the VNPS which is a project showcase event that sees students from across streams. Our college is presenting their projects to bag the cash prize. The E-Cell also conducts an E-Summit and idea pitching competition around the same time (that committee has a huge budget). An annual sports event also takes place with a large number of participants from students as well as faculty members. From 2018, a 36-hour Hackathon is also conducted which saw record participation in the first year itself.

Placement rate has certainly dropped over the period of years.
Placements: Only one MNC company this year (Infosys for 2018 batch passouts). Overall not more than 5 companies visited VCET. Only plus point was Infosys took around 85 students total from all the branches, that majorly included comps and IT. Rest of the other companies hardly took 10 students.
Infrastructure: No Wi-Fi in this college. AC's available in comps and IT Labs but not in any classroom. Canteen is good with breakfast and lunch available. Library contains range of books, never faced any issue with it. VCET has a ground and Gymkhana stays open for 2 hrs every day.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified with each having an Engineering degree. Most of the teachers are friendly with students. Almost all teachers use PPT to teach their respective subjects. They take feedback for course curriculum which gives teachers an idea what students think and how well they are understanding.
Other: Events and fest takes place in even semesters.

Q:   What to do after JEE Main session 2 result?

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.
