NID Ahmedabad admission 2024 is based on NID Design Aptitude Test conducted for both B. Des and M.Des courses. The Design Aptitude Test comprises two steps:

The National Institite of Design (NID) has released the list of exam centres for the DAT Prelims exam on September 3, 2024.
The list of exam centers have been published in the respective admission brochures for the B.Des and M.Des programs.
The DAT Prelims exam will be conducted in 22 cities across the country - Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehradun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Kolkata, Kurukshetra, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayawada.

NID DAT 2024: Important Exam Day Documents
Candidates can go through the list of important documents that they need to positively carry to the allotted test centre on the day of NID Entrance Exam 2024.
NID DAT 2024 Admit Card: Candidates need to download their admit card from the official website of NID entrance exam 2024. Further, they need to carry a clear printout of their valid admit card to the test centre.
Aspirants are informed that they will not be allowed to appear for NID DAT 2024 if they are not carrying their valid NID DAT admit card to their exam centre. The admit card for NID Entrance Exam comprises information such as the candidate’s name, roll number and exam centre details. Apart from this, the admit card for NID DAT also mentions the items that candidates can and cannot carry to the exam centre.
The admit card for NID exam will be separately verified as well as signed by the invigilator during the exam. The invigilator will then detach the lower part (Part B) of the admit card and hand over the upper part (Part A) to the candidate.
Q: What is the reporting time at NID DAT 2025 exam centre?
The reporting time for NID DAT 2025 will be mentioned in the admit card, along with gate closing time, and exam timings and date.
The candidate needs to report for the DAT Prelims exam at 8 am. The gates of the exam center will close at 9,30 am (or 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam). After that no candidate will be allowed inside the exam hall.
The DAT Prelims exam for the B.Des and M.Des courses will be conducted tentatively in the 4th week of December 2024.

Q: Will I be allowed to enter NID DAT 2025 exam centre if I am late?
The reporting and exam commencement time for NID DAT 2025 will be mentioned in the admit card. The candidate must arrive at the exam centre as per the reporting time.
If the candidate is late, there is chance that he or she will not be allowed entry inside the exam center.
So, the candidate must start a bit early on exam day, taking into account the traffic situation. Note that exam officials will conduct registration formalities and frisking, etc. befor allowing the candidate inside the exam centre.
Photo ID Proof: Aspirants need to carry a valid and original photo ID proof to the exam centre. In absence of such a document the candidate can bring another copy of their NID DAT admit card (both part-A and -B) attested by the Principal of their current school/college or a gazetted officer. Any candidate not carrying either of the documents (ID proof or attested admit card) will not be allowed to sit for the exam. The photo ID can be anyone from the list mentioned below:
- Student ID card issued by current school/college
- Passport
- Driving License
- Adhaar Card
- Voter ID Card
- PAN Card
Stationery: Aspirants need to bring their own things to use in NID Entrance Exam 2024. Some of the items they need to carry to their NID exam centre are mentioned below:
- Black ball point pen (to mark the answers in the OMR sheet)
- Lead pencils (of varying grades)
- Dry colours (such as oil pastels/colour pencils/sketch pens etc)
- Eraser
- Sharpeners
- Ruler
Other items: Some of the other items that candidates can carry inside the test include personal transparent hand sanitizer bottle and personal transparent water bottle.
Aspirants will not be allowed to carry items such as hand bag, purse, notes, books and electronic devices such as calculator, mobile phone, digital watch inside the exam hall. If any aspirant is found to be carrying any such device he/she will be asked to leave the test centre without completing his/her exam.
NID Entrance Exam 2024: Last Minute Tips
The NID Entrance Exam 2024 question paper will comprise questions that will determine the knowledge level, comprehension capability, analysis, reasoning ability, problem-solving skills and creativity of an aspirant. To fare well in NID Entrance Exam 2024, Shiksha lists some helpful tips that can help candidates ace NID DAT Prelims.
- Manage Time: NID Entrance Exam pattern is such that the test paper will be divided into two sections – Section A and Section B. The first section would contain multiple choice objective type questions and the latter would comprise subjective type questions. Since, NID DAT Prelims 2021 comprises subjective questions as well, so, candidates need to manage time well so that they get sufficient time to analyse and solve such questions. Aspirants are also advised to read every question as well as instructions mentioned in NID Entrance Exam with utmost care. No, unfilled seats in SC/ ST category will not be de-reserved. Meaning, such seats will not be transferred to the open category. The same applies to GEN-EWS category seats.
So, even if there are vacant seats left in SC, ST, and GEN-EWS category, such seats will lapse.

Yes, if there are unfilled seats in OBC-NCL, such seats will be de-reserved. Meaning, such seats will be transferred to the open category. Allotment of de-served seats will be same as open category.
The allotment will be based on NID DAT 2025 merit rank.

When filling out the form, the candidate needs to upload the relevant caste/ tribe certificate (in English/ Hindi).
The certificate should be :
- Issued in the name of the candidate.

Seats that are left vacant/ unfilled in overseas (supernumerary) category will lapse. This means such seats will not be transferred to other categories.

As per information given in the NID admission handbooks, overseas candidates cannot apply for admission to GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST seats. Such candidates can't also apply for age-relaxation, scribe, etc.
