NIIFT 2025 - The Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) will conduct the NIIFT 2025 written exams around the 1st week of June 2025.

The exam will include a Creative Aptitude in Fashion Test (CAFT).

The NIIFT 2025 question paper for the UG will have five sections – Quantitative Ability, Communication Ability, English Comprehension, Analytical Ability, and Creative Ability. A total of 101 questions (100 objective and one subjective) will be asked, and candidates must attempt it in three hours.

The application form for NIIFT 2025 is expected to open in January 2025.  

Candidates who meet the NIIFT 2025 eligibility criteria will have to fill out the application form before the last date.

Admit cards for NIIFT 2025 will be issued to successfully registered candidates.

Q:   Is an interview conducted after the NIIFT entrance exam?

A:

Yes, only candidates who qualify the exam were called for the interview. The Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology will conduct the exam in the form of a Creative Aptitude in Fashion Test (CAFT).

It is mandatory for the candidate to appear in all the stages of the NIIFT entrance exam. If the candidate fails to do so, he or she will be disqualfied.

Candidates can secure a seat at any of the NIIFT campuses basis their score in the NIIFT entrance exam and performance in the situation test and interview round. It may be noted that candidates applying for PG design courses offered at NIIFT do not need to appear for the situation test.

Q:   What is the NIIFT entrance exam eligibility criteria for UG courses?

A:

Candidates who fulfil any of the below-mentioned parameters are eligible to appear for NIIFT entrance exam for admission in UG design courses.

  • Cleared Class XII from any recognised central/ state board.
  • Appeared for General Certificate Education (GCE) exam (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at an advanced level.
  • Cleared any public school/ board/ university exam in India or abroad recognised by the Association of Indian Universities.
  • Cleared Class XII exam (with a minimum of five subjects) conducted by National Open School.
  • Hold a 3 or 4-year Diploma recognised by the State Board of Technical Education or AICTE.

Q:   Do I need to carry any photo ID proof in ITM IDM entrance exam?

Yes, you need to bring a valid photo ID proof on exam day. Without the ID, the candidate will not be allowed inside the exam hall.

NIIFT Entrance Exam Application Process

Candidates who wish to appear for the NIIFT entrance exams have to follow the below-mentioned application process.

Step 1: Registration

Eligible candidates have to fill in the application form before the last date.

Note: Entries in the application form shall be required to be filled only in English. 

Step 2: Fill out the application form

Before proceeding to fill up the application form, keep the following items ready:
a) Valid Email ID
c) Educational qualification details
d) Scanned photograph in jpg/jpeg format and size should not exceed 50 KB and not less than 5KB
e) Scanned signature in jpg/jpeg format and size should not exceed 50 KB and not less than 5KB

Fill in the details on the online application form and click Save. Since candidates' eligibility will be screened based on the information furnished by them, they are required to exercise sufficient care to correctly furnish the details of their qualification, etc. After that upload photographs and signatures.

Note: In case candidate do not want to upload photograph & signature (Option: Do you want to upload photo/signature image(Y/N)? is available. Candidates selecting NO against this option, will be required to affix the photograph and signature on the Printout of Application Form and dispatch to AIMA, New Delhi.

Step 3: Pay the application fee

There are two options available for payment of the application fee as given below: 1. Demand Draft 2. Debit / Credit Card

1. Payment through Demand Draft: Make demand draft of INR 1,750/- (for General Candidates) and INR 440/- (for SC/ST/PH Candidate) in favour of “NIIFT Mohali”, payable at Mohali for all the offered courses. The details of the Demand Draft are to be filled in the online application form. Candidates applying through Demand Draft are required to send the printout of the Application Form, duly completed in all respect, along with testimonials (copy of 10th marksheet, 12th result/result of qualifying examination), DOB birth certificate, certificate of reserved category or sub category (in the prescribed format duly signed by prescribed authorities), Certificate of Punjab Domicile/Residence certificate, (if applicable) and Demand Draft on the following address so as to reach on or before last date.

2. Payment through Debit/Credit Card: In case the payment option selected is Debit/Credit Card and photographs and signatures are uploaded, candidates are required to send the printout of the Application Form, duly completed in all respects, along with testimonials (copy of 10th marksheet, 12th result/result of qualifying examination), DOB birth certificate, certificate of reserved category or subcategory (in the prescribed format duly signed by prescribed authorities), Certificate of Punjab Domicile/Residence certificate, (if applicable) to above-mentioned address.

Step 4: Download the admit card

Download the admit card. The hall ticket will contain the details of the centre/venue for the examination, etc. The admit card for the written test will NOT be sent by post or email. Candidates are advised to regularly check AIMA website for updates. 

Step 5: Appear for NIIFT Exam

Candidates are required to appear for the NIIFT exam. Candidates need to report at the allotted NIIFT test centre 45 minutes before the commencement of the design entrance exam. The design entrance test will be of three hours duration and will carry 100 marks. After appearing for the written entrance test, shortlisted candidates then need to appear for the situation test. “A situation test is a hands-on test to evaluate candidates’ innovative ability and material handling skills on a given situation with a given set of material”, informs the official website.

Note: The situation test is to be given by only those candidates who are applying for UG design courses on offer at NIIFT.

NIIFT Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for UG and PG courses offered by NIIFT are mentioned below:

For UG Courses: Candidates who fulfil any of the below-mentioned parameters are eligible to appear for NIIFT entrance exam for admission in UG design courses.

  • The +2 level examinations in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi or
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri- Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level or
  • Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in Foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system or
  • A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects or
  • 3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

Note: The official website informs, "85% seats will be reserved for the candidates from within the Punjab State and 15% will be open to candidates on All India basis."

For PG Courses: Candidates who fulfil any of the below-mentioned parameters are eligible to take admission in PG design courses.

For MSc Garment Manufacturing Technology and MSc Fashion Marketing & Management: BSc/ BTech/ BE or BCom/ BBA/ BCA/BA with any one of the following subjects: Economics/Statistics/ Management/ Marketing / Mathematics /Textiles/Fashion/ Accounts/ Computers /Home Science /any other related Diploma 

For MDes Fashion and Textiles: UG Degree of Fashion Design/Textile Design/ Knitwear Design/ Clothing & Textiles/Apparel and Furnishing/ Home Science or any other allied field course.

NIIFT Entrance Exam Admission Process

Candidates seeking admission to the Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) have to follow the process as under:

Step 1: After qualifying written exam appear for an interview

Candidates who qualify the written test will appear for the interview. The interview will either be conducted in online or offline mode. In the interview round, a candidate is evaluated on the following parameters:

Step 2: Check the result

Step 3: Appear for counseling

Candidates whose names appear in the final merit list declared by the college then need to attend the NIIFT counselling session conducted at NIIFT Mohali. The schedule of the counselling for final allotment of seats at NIIFT campuses will be displayed on the college website. There will be three round of counselling and the candidates will be given a stipulated time to pay the admission fee. After that Open Admission will be given for leftover seats (if any) on first come first serve basis.

Test Centres: NIIFT test centres are determined depending on the total number of applications received for admission from a particular region. Check the detailed list of NIIFT test centres.

Q:   At what time do I need to report at ITM IDM entrance exam centre?

A:

The ITM IDM 2025 entrance exam admit card will include the date and timings of the exam. It will also have the reporting time.

You need to reach the exam centre as per the reporting time.

Note that latecomers may not be allowed inside the exam hall.

A:

If the candidate doesn’t accept the seat allocated to him or her, the ITM IDM 2025 seat allotment will be canceled. Note that ITM IDM 2025 seats will be allocated as per the merit rank of the candidate in the entrance exam.

Q:   Is it easy to crack DAT?

A:

DAT entrance exam is considered to be moderate. IN NID DAT, more weightage is given to subjective, drawing related questions. Thus, candidates need to be extremely creative and have a clear understanding of their concepts when appearing for the DAT.

But note that difficulty level can also be subjective, as it may also depend on your level of preparation. For instance, if you prepare well, you may be able to solve even the so-called difficult questions easily.

Q:   When will the NIFT 2025 application form open?

The online application form for NIFT 2025 is OPEN with regular fees from November 22-January 6, 2025.

With late fees, applications will be accepted from Janaury 7-9, 2025.

The application will be available online at niftadmissions.in. The NTA will also release the detailed admission notification, including the eligibility criteria and information brochure.

Q:   When will the NIFT 2025 entrance exam be conducted?

The written tests for the NIFT 2025 exam will be held on February 9, 2025. The detailed schedule has also been released.

The written tests will comprise a General Ability Test (GAT) and a Creative Ability Test (CAT). GAT is mandatory for all candidates, but CAT is only required for B. Des and M. Des candidates. 

The GAT test will be considered in a computer-based mode, whereas the CAT will be offline based. Note that scores of the written exams will be used to shortlist candidates for a Situation Test/ Personal Interview.

The Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) declares the results of the NIIFT exam within a few weeks after the conduct of the entrance exam. The result will be announced online at the admission portal of the institute - niiftindia.com.

To check their results, the candidate will have to log in to the result portal using one's candidate credentials. 

Candidates who qualify in the NIIFT 2025 exam will be eligible to participate in the counseling and seat allotment.

Q:   When do I need to start my preparation for NIFT 2025 exam?

A:

The NIFT exam is among the competitive and is also considered among the toughest. So, it is recommended that the candidate starts their exam preparation well in advance, say with around 1 years time in hand. Note that the NIFT exam has various components like written exam and Situation Test /Personal Interview. Candidates seeking admission to the B. Des and M.Des courses need to prepare for both the CAT and GAT. The CAT is a drawing-based exam, meaning the candidate will be evaluated on parameters like intuitive ability, power of observation in concept development, and design ability. Now unless the candidate is already well-versed, developing these skills will take time. So, it is prudent to start early. The same goes for the GAT.

Q:   When will the application forms for NID 2025 be released?

A:

NID application form 2025 opened on September 3, 2024. The application form is open online at the NID admission portal -admissions.nid.edu. Candidates who meet the program-specific eligibility criteria may apply before the last date.

The NID application form is for admission to the B. Des and M.Des courses offered by participating colleges. 

The last date to apply for NID DAT 2025 is December 6, 2024 (extended from December 3). The candidate can also edit the submitted application from December 4-9, 2024.

The NID DAT 2025 (Prelims) exam will be conducted on January 5, 2025.

Q:   When will the NID DAT 2025 Prelims exam be conducted?

A:

The National Institute of Design (NID) will conduct the DAT Prelims exam on January 5, 2025.

The B.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 1 pm; meanwhile, the M.Des exam will be held from 10 am - 12.30 am.

The DAT Prelims for the B.Des programme will be conducted in a paper-and-pencil/pen mode. The question paper may  incude both textual and visual questions. Other details like duration of the exam, marking scheme, etc. will be published in the DAT Prelims admit card.

The candidate needs to report for the exam at 8 am. Gates closing time is 9.30 am. 

The DAT Prelims exam for the M.Des programme will be conducted offline and include a mix of objective and subjective questions. The paper will have a total of 100 questions.

Q:   Who can participate in the WWI Personal Interview?

A:

Candidates who qualify in the WWI 2025 written exam will next have to appear in a Personal Interview. The list of eligible candidates will be publised on the admission portal.

Note that is mandatory for the candidate to appear in all the stages of the WWI entrance exam. Or else the candidate will not be included in the merit list.

Q:   I am awaiting my Bachelor results, can I apply for the PG course in Mohali campus through NIIFT entrance exam?

Yes. Candidates awaiting their results can apply but the student needs to have all their mark sheets and should provide the certificate before the classes commence.

The candidate can select their programme of study at the time of filling out the application form. The allotment of seats will be based on merit of NIIFT 2025 entrance exam.

Q:   From where can I download the NIIFT entrance exam admit card?

A:

The admit card was available on the official website of the institute. Candidates' could download the admit card by entering their log-in credentials.

Admit cards will be issued to all candidates who successfully complete the application process. On exam day, you need to bring the admit card and a valid photo ID proof.

Q:   Is there an age limit to apply for the NIIFT entrance exam?

A:

No. The NIIFT authorities have not specified any age limit. However, make sure that you go through the academic and other requirements. Note that unless the candidate meets the prescribed criteria, he or she will not be considered for admission to the design courses offered by the institute.
