1.Important Dates for JEE Main II 2020

The important dates of the JEE Main Exam is given below:

  • JEE Main Exam Dates 2020:- Last week of May
  • Mode of exam: Online test
  • Release of Answer Key and OMR Sheets: To be notified
  • JEE Main Result and Rank Declaration: To be notified
  • Registration for JoSAA 2020 Counselling 2020: June 17, 2020

Note: NTA conducted First JEE Main in January 2020

2. JEE Main Exam Pattern 2020 

National Testing Agency has announced new changes in the JEE Main 2020 exam pattern this year. JEE Main 2020 comprises of two papers:

  • Paper 1 for engineering aspirants and Paper 2 for students seeking admissions in architecture and planning courses
  • According to the JEE Main 2020 exam pattern, Paper 1 includes multiple choice questions and numerical questions whereas Paper 2 is now separate for BArch and BPlan aspirants
  • JEE Main Exam Pattern for B.Arch includes objective questions for both Maths and Aptitude, numerical questions for Maths and questions for the Drawing section.
  • Paper 1 of JEE Main exam have three subjects namely Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Each section is given equal weightage with 20 MCQs and 5 numerical questions. The total marks for JEE Main Paper 1 would be 300. 
  • Exam Type: Computer based Test (CBT) 
  • Total Marks: 300
  • Marking Scheme:

(•) Each correct = +4

(•) Each incorrect = -1

(•) Not attempted = 0

  • Subject: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
  • Marks for each subject:

(a) Mathematics: 100 marks 

(b) Chemistry: 100 marks 

(c) Physics: 100 marks 

  • Total no. of questions = 75 

(a) Chemistry = 25 questions (20 multiple choice questions + 5 numeric based) 

(b) Physics = 25 questions (20 multiple choice questions + 5 numeric based)

(c) Mathematics = 25 questions (20 multiple choice questions + 5 numeric based)

Note:-Numeric based questions have no negative marking.

  • Electrostatic, Optics (Both Ray and Waves), Modern Physics, Oscillation and Waves, EMI and AC 
  • Current Electricity, Magnetism, Gravitation 
  • Kinematics, Circular Motion, Work Power & Energy, Rotational Motion 
  • Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Gate Circuit, Electronic Devices, Communication Systems, Transfer of Heat , Electromagnetic Waves, Atoms and Nuclei

  • SL Arora Physics
  • Halliday Resnick and Waker
  • C Pandey, Problems of IE Irodov
  • Previous year JEE Main and JEE Advanced Papers

Chemistry

  • Chemical Bonding, P Block, Thermodynamic and Thermo Chemistry,  Electrochemistry, Ionic Equilibrium, Chemical Kinetics, General Organic Chemistry, Aldehyde Ketone and Carboxylic Acid, Coordination Compounds
  • Solution and Colligative Properties, Atomic Structure, Haloalkane and Haloarenes, Compounds Containing Nitrogen, Periodic Table, d Block Elements, Alcohol Phenol and Ether

  • Inverse Trigonometric Function, Functions, Differentiation, Application of Derivative, Maxima and Minima, Ellipse, Circle, Straight lines, Combination, Sequence and Series 
  • Mathematical Reasoning, Statistics, Hyperbola, Trigonometric Functions and Equations, Limits, Continuity and Differentiability, Permutation, Quadratic Equation and Inequality, Height and Distance.

Five Strategies of Scoring Good Marks in JEE Main

(1) Attempt mock tests and solve sample papers: Practise mock tests and solving sample papers would help in manage time in a better way. Candidates could use sample papers and previous year question papers to revise the concepts studied 

(2) Revise the concepts thoroughly: Read the NCERT book and try to learn and memorise all the concepts, formulae and graphs. Understand the methods and solve similar type of problems for clear understanding of the concept.

(3) Stay healthy and motivated: Good sleeping and eating habits would help in maintaining a higher level of concentration during the exam. Create a positive environment for studies. Solve the doubts instantaneously by referring books or connecting with the concerned subject teachers. 

(4) Small breaks during preparation: Keeping small breaks in the study schedule would help refreshing the mind to concentrate better while preparation.

(5) Never feel the pressure: Avoid the feeling of getting pressurised or stress of completing the course during the preparation. Focus on understanding the basic concepts and scoring well.
