Through the WBJEE syllabus 2025, the candidates will be able to access the list of subjects, units and topics that they will have to prepare and study for the upcoming entrance examination. All candidates are advised to carefully check the syllabus of WBJEE 2025 to understand what has to be studied. By knowing the WBJEE 2025 syllabus, the candidates will be able to plan out their study strategy to secure the required scores. WBJEE syllabus consists of topics from 12th standard level Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Along with the syllabus, the candidates are also advised to check the official WBJEE 2025 exam pattern. Q:   Will the official WBJEE syllabus available on the website?

Yes. The authorities will soon release the official WBJEE 2025 syllabus online at the official website - wbjeeb.nic.in. The details regarding which subjects, units and topics have to be studied for the examination will be available through the WBJEE syllabus. No other mode will be used to release the syllabus of WBJEE. Candidates are advised to check the syllabus before commencing the exam preparation process.

Q:   Can I leave out some of the topics from the WBJEE syllabus?

A:
During the preparation period, the candidates can refer to the previous years' WBJEE question papers to analyze the important topics and weightage given to each concept and subject. This will allow the candidates to understand which topics are important and cannot be missed out and which topics have higher chances of being left out, and accordingly prepare. However, for higher chances of performing well in the exam and securing good scores, the candidates are advised to follow the official WBJEE syllabus.

Q:   Shall I prepare any other topics apart from those mentioned in the WBJEE syllabus?

A:
WBJEE syllabus cover more or less all the concepts in Physics Chemistry and Mathematics that have to be studied for the entrance examination. However, if possible, the candidates can prepare a few extra topics to have a higher understanding of the concepts and subjects. The authorities will prepare the question paper based on the syllabus of WBJEE. Most importantly, the candidates are advised to not stress too much and focus on the prescribed syllabus provided by the exam authorities.

In terms of difficulty level, the WBJEE syllabus can be considered to be moderate to tough. The syllabus will be similar to the topics and units studied for the 11th and 12th standard examinations. The main subjects in the WBJEE syllabus are Physics Chemistry and Mathematics. While preparing for the examination, the candidates are advised to check the syllabus and refer to their board exam books. Q:   Are the topics of WBJEE syllabus similar to that of the 10+2 board exams, or those taught during the engineering classes?

A:

Yes. The topics of WBJEE will be similar to that of the Class 12th board exams and they also deal with the basic as well as extensive concepts of the subjects or sections from which the questions will appear. However, some of the topics are also from 11th standard. Candidates are advised to check the WBJEE syllabus available online carefully. While preparing for the examination, the candidates are advised to refer to their board examination books and materials.

WBJEE 2025 Exam Pattern

WBJEE 2025 exam pattern will allow the candidates to understand how the entrance examination will be conducted by the authorities. Q:   Is there negative marking in WBJEE?

A:

Yes. There is negative marking in WBJEE. The scale of the negative marking depends on the category that the question falls in. Candidates can check the category-wise negative marking of WBJEE below. 

  • Category I - An incorrect response will yield a loss of ¼ mark. For any combination of responses with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -1/4 (25% negative) marks.
  • Category II - An incorrect response will yield -1/2 (25% negative) marks. For any combination of responses with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield a -1/2 (25% negative) mark.
  • Category III - There is no negative marking.

WBJEE question paper will consist of two sections - Paper 1 (Mathematics) and Paper 2 (Physics and Chemistry). While Paper 1 will consist of 75 questions, Paper 2 will have 80 questions. All questions will be multiple-choice in nature. The duration of each paper will be 2 hours. To qualify the entrance examination, the candidates will have to attempt both sections.
