Kerala SET exam pattern 2025 is prescribed by the  LBS Centre for Science and Technology. The Paper 2 of the Kerala SET exam is conducted in 31 different subjects. Q: Â Is qualifying Kerala SET exam compulsory for PhD?
The Kerala SET exam is not compulsory for pursuing a Ph.D. in Kerala. However, it is important to note that many universities and research institutions in India consider Kerala SET or similar exams such as UGC NET & CSIR NET as a qualifying criteria for admission to their Ph.D. programs. In addition, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has made it mandatory for Ph.D. candidates to have qualified in the Kerala SET or similar exam to be eligible for a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or a Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) during their Ph.D. programme. Kerala SET 2025 Marking Scheme
In both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of the Kerala SET exam, candidates will be awarded 1 mark for every correct answer. The only exception is for Mathematics and Statistics subjects of Paper 2 wherein each correct answer fetches 1.5 marks. There is no negative marking in the examination for wrong answers or unattempted questions.Â
