If any Indian citizen or any overseas citizen has finished his medical qualification from any institution which is located outside India, and he/she wants to do his/her medical practice in India, then they need to clear FMGE exam for registering with the NMC or SMC. NMC is the National medical commission and SMC is the state medical council.

There is no upper age limit for the FMGE Exam. Students who are eligibile on the basis of educational background can appear in the exam. It means, you should have a valid MBBS degree from a recognised medical college. In easy words, as long as you have a valid MBBS degree or equivalent from a recognised institution, you are eligible to appear for the FMGE, regardless of your age.

The FMGE is mandatory for Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who wish to obtain a license to practice medicine in India after completing their medical education abroad. Regarding the USMLE, if you pass all the steps of the USMLE that are required and you get your medical license in the United States, you are exempt from taking the FMGE for practising in India. However, if you do plan to practice in India at any point, you will still need to fulfil the FMGE requirement unless you hold a medical qualification recognised by the Natio

Yes, if your FMGE exam application is rejected, you can appear for the exam next year. Because the National Medical Commission (NMC) allows you to try six times even after your application form is rejected for the FMGE exam.
