Hi, I'm also a Art's background student and currently pursuing M.Sc Geoinformatics. Am I eligible for GATE exam? And can you say which type of universities will give me chance to do an M.Tech? And can I do PhD in Geomatics Engeenering after Passing the GATE exam?

At JIS University, the eligibility criteria generally require candidates to have Maths in 12th but since you have Geography as a core subject, chances are that you are going to be eligible. That is because some institutes recognize Geography as a related subject for Geoinformatics.

The basic difference between both is that Geoinformatics is a broad field that merges Geography or Geology with Informatics. In contrast, Geology is a discipline that studies the Earth's structure, materials, and history. Their subjects, course curriculum, and career scope also differ.

There are more than 90 colleges in India offering Geoinformatics courses at various levels. The fee structure of every college vary depending on its course curriculum, college rating, placement record, etc. However, the average course fee ranges from INR 700 and goes up to INR 8 Lakh.
