The basic difference between both is that Geoinformatics is a broad field that merges Geography or Geology with Informatics. In contrast, Geology is a discipline that studies the Earth's structure, materials, and history. Their subjects, course curriculum, and career scope also differ.

It provides an M.Sc in Geology. Part-time opportunities, however are not generally possible as the majority of these programs tend to be full-time as they comprise much practical component and work done in a lab setup during geology studies. The best is to ask at Madras University, whether they do have a part-time option or distance-learning possibilities open there for related areas. If part-time study is essential for you, consider exploring other universities that may provide flexible learning options or online courses in geology.

No, there are no age criteria to opt for an MSc in Geology programme in India. Some universities may need some relevant work experience in the Geological field. However, you'll need to fulfil other eligibility requirements such as a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from a recognised university.
