The IISER entrance exam, also called IISER Aptitude Test, tests candidates in three main sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology. The syllabus is based on the NCERT curriculum of classes 11 and 12, with a focus on topics such as Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, Calculus, Algebra, and Biology (for students applying through the Biology stream). It is a multiple-choice test consisting of 60 questions. Each question carries one mark, and there is no negative marking. The test is usually taken online and lasts for 3 hours.

Hello Greeting, With a rank of 4174 in the IISER entrance exam (IAT), getting a seat might be tough, but it's not impossible. The cutoff ranks change every year based on things like how many people apply and how many seats are available. 'For example, in recent years, the cutoff for the general category has been between 1000 and 5000. To improve your chances, you can look up the specific cutoff for each IISER this year. You might also consider applying through JEE Advanced or KVPY, as some IISERs accept students through these exams too. Make sure to check the official IISER admission website for the latest updates'.Thank you

Preparation based on the syllabus of NEET will prove helpful as a foundation especially in Biology and to some extent, Physics and Chemistry. Mathematics is included in IAT that is not part of NEET syllabus. Analytical thinking and problem solving ability will be tested through IAT, which is comparatively at a higher level than that in NEET. Therefore, while NEET preparation helps you with some subjects, you need to devote extra time for Mathematics and the different question formats of IAT.

You can sit for the IISER exam or the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) even if you passed your 12th grade seven years ago, as there is no age limit mentioned for IISER admissions. But the eligibility for the exam includes that you have to be an equal pass out with at least 60% marks (for the SC/ST/PwD candidates, the cut-off percentage is 55%). Your main qualification has to be in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics. At least three of these Science subjects should be studied by you in the 12th standard. Hence, provided you have met these academic requirements, it does not matter when you completed your schooling; you are eligible to a

In previous years, IISER Kolkata's closing ranks for the General category have ranged from 641 to 1801, depending on the specialisation and round of counseling. For the SC category, the closing ranks have varied between 234 and 502. Based on these trends, it is reasonable to anticipate that the cutoff marks for IISER Kolkata in IAT 2024 will be in the range of 150 to 200 for the General category and 100 to 150 for the SC category. Please note that these are approximate figures, and actual cutoffs may vary.

As a PCB student and NEET aspirant preparing for the IISER IAT, your focus should be on strengthening your core subjects—Physics, Chemistry, and Biology—while also preparing for the Mathematics section, which is part of the exam. For Maths, concentrate on essential chapters like Algebra (including quadratic equations and polynomials), Calculus (limits and differentiation), Coordinate Geometry (straight lines and circles), Probability, Statistics, and Trigonometry (basic identities). Regular practice is the key. So, solve previous years' papers and take mock tests to improve your problem-solving speed and accuracy. This will cover a
