IISER Entrance Exam

IISERs and IITs are both excellent institutions, but they have different focuses:   IISERs:Primarily focus on fundamental Science research. It also offers a strong foundation in basic sciences like physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics. This will encourage research-oriented learning from the beginning. But candidates may have fewer career options outside of academia compared to IITs.IITs:Primarily focus on engineering and technology. The organisation has a wide range of engineering and Science programmes. Also have a strong emphasis on practical applications and industry collaborations. Generally have more diverse career options, including in industry and research.Which is "better" depends entirely on your individual goals and interests.If you are passionate about fundamental Science research and want a strong foundation in basic sciences, IISERs might be a better fit. And if you are interested in engineering, technology, or have broader career aspirations, IITs might be a better choice.

IISER entrance exam is one such platform where candidates who are interested in pursuing their academics in BS-MS dual degree and BS degree programmes from the reputed research institutes like IISERs, IIT Madras and IISc Bangalore must appear for IAT 2025.Candidates who have passed their Class 12 boards exam in 2024 and also who are yet to pass in 2025 from the Science stream are eligible to appear in the IISER entrance Exam 2025. For candidates who had appeared in the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2024 and reappeared in any subject (for whatever reason) in 2025, the better of two performances will be considered

You can sit for the IISER exam or the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) even if you passed your 12th grade seven years ago, as there is no age limit mentioned for IISER admissions. But the eligibility for the exam includes that you have to be an equal pass out with at least 60% marks (for the SC/ST/PwD candidates, the cut-off percentage is 55%). Your main qualification has to be in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Physics. At least three of these Science subjects should be studied by you in the 12th standard. Hence, provided you have met these academic requirements, it does not matter when you completed your schooling; you are eligible to apply for the IISER exam.

As a PCB student and NEET aspirant preparing for the IISER IAT, your focus should be on strengthening your core subjects—Physics, Chemistry, and Biology—while also preparing for the Mathematics section, which is part of the exam. For Maths, concentrate on essential chapters like Algebra (including quadratic equations and polynomials), Calculus (limits and differentiation), Coordinate Geometry (straight lines and circles), Probability, Statistics, and Trigonometry (basic identities). Regular practice is the key. So, solve previous years' papers and take mock tests to improve your problem-solving speed and accuracy. This will cover all the topics that are needed and help you gain confidence for the exam.
