Yes, one can appear for the IPMAT exam even if they didn't have mathematics in Class 12. There are no specific requirements of the IPMAT exam for having studied mathematics. However, cracking IPMAT without having studied Mathematics in Class 11 and 12 can be a bit tricky and challenging. This is because higher level Mathematics dominate the exam. More than 60% of all the numerical are from Class 11 and Class 12 syllabus. One can also consider taking coaching for the sections they find difficult. The two sections based on Quantitative Aptitude are different in nature. One section has MCQs while the other has Short Answer Type questions.

The IPMAT exam is indeed scored out of 360 marks. Based on your background and category, here are some guidelines for scoring to enhance your chances for IIM Ranchi: Given that you belong to the ST category and have strong academic credentials (88% in both 10th and 12th grades), aiming for a score around 180-220 marks in the IPMAT should give you a strong chance at securing admission to IIM Ranchi.

Yes, but one can clear the IPM entrance exam right after the boards. It usually takes 2 to 2.5 months for preparation once the board results are out, if done effectively. The whole process of entrance examination is segregated into sections- quantitative ability, logical reasoning, verbal ability, and general knowledge.

The choice between CAT and IPMAT is based on the career goal. CAT is the most recognised test for admission into MBA programs, mainly for those who have completed their undergraduate studies. It is accepted by the top management institutes like IIMs. Whereas IPMAT is targeted at those students who would like to join directly for a 5-year integrated programme BBA+MBA immediately after schools and institutes such as IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak are providing this integrated program. And if one looks for the MBA, post-graduation CAT would be more suitable for it.
