The SLAT WAT and PI (components of merit for admission to SLSs through the SLAT) are conducted to confirm the qualified exam takers' admissions at one of the four SLSs - SLS Pune, SLS Nagpur, SLS Noida, and SLS Hyderabad. At this point of time, they need to know how to prepare for the WAT and PI conducted by the four law schools of Symbiosis International (Deemed University). This article will help SLAT 2025 exam takers know everything about what SLAT WAT and PI are and how to prepare for them. Moreover, the entire schedule for the SLAT 2025 WAT, PI, and SLAT 2025 admission process is mentioned here.

Q:   Is it tough to get into Symbiosis Law School LLM?

A:

The answer to this depends upon the qualification of candidates. To get admission to LLM course the candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

  • Candidate should have obtained a five-year of three-year LLB degree from any recognised university
  • They should have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in their law degree
  • Those belonging to SC/ ST category should have obtained 40% marks to be eligible
  • Candidates awaiting results for the final year LLB degree examination are also eligible to apply, however, they should be able to submit their marksheet at the time of counselling

Q:   What is a good score for SLAT?

A:
A good score for SLAT results depends on the cut-off of the Symbiosis Law School in which you want to enrol. For example, if a candidate scores a 91.5 percentile in the SLAT exam in a particular year and he or she wants to get admission to SLS Pune, which accepts candidates with a minimum percentile of 75, a 91.5 percentile is definitely a good score for admission to SLS Pune. Thus, to ensure whether percentile scores obtained by candidates in the SLAT exam are good or not, they need to check the cut-off score of the SLS (SLS Pune, SLS Nagpur, SLS Noida, and SLS Hyderabad) in which they want to apply for a 5-year LL.B. Course.

Q:   How much should I score in SLAT to get a good SLS as a general category candidate?

A:

All Symbiosis Law Schools are equally good in terms of the quality of law education. Thus, after getting a good score in the SLAT candidates can get admission to any of the four Law Schools of Symbiosis International (Deemed University). Getting admission to an SLS depends on the cutoff marks decided by it. Thus, if a candidate wants to get admission to a Symbiosis Law School, he or she needs a SLAT score equal to or more than its cutoff. Generally, 65% marks in the SLAT are a good score to get admission to an SLS.

WAT is conducted online, for which candidates need to book their slots by visiting the website of the SLS in which they want to get admission. Generally, the SET exam authority asks candidates to write WAT essays on significant legal topics or issues, political topics, and topics related to social issues. A candidate who wants to crack SLAT WAT must be aware of current topics related to politics, international relations, and social issues. They also need to note that WAT topics are not limited to those mentioned here.

What is SLAT PI?

WAT is followed by a PI, or personal interview, which is also conducted online. Candidates are also required to book slots for their SLAT PI online. In this round of the SLAT admission process, questions are asked to assess candidates’ overall personality, their aim and objective as a future lawyer, and the fundamental concepts and scope of law.

Q:   Which is the most difficult section of SLAT?

A:

The most difficult section of SLAT cannot be specified because the difficulty level of a subject or exam section is different for all candidates. For example, some candidates have expertise in Logical Reasoning and Analytical Reasoning. Thus, these two sections of the SLAT exam will be easier for them than other exam sections. It can be said that the difficulty level of a SLAT section for a candidate is based on his or her expertise in it. If we analyze the sectional difficulty for SLAT based on the patterns of question papers from previous years, General Knowledge is the most difficult section because questions in this section can be asked from anywhere from static GK topics to current affairs.

Q:   What are the best sources to prepare for SLAT?

A:

The best sources to prepare for the SLAT are the books that have content based on the SLAT syllabus. Check out the list of these books below:

  1. Guide to Symbiosis Law Admission Test - SLAT by Disha Experts
  2. A Modern Approach to Logical Reasoning by RS Aggarwal
  3. Legal Aptitude and Legal Reasoning byAndhra PradeshBhardwaj
  4. Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning by RS Aggarwal
  5. Quick Learning Objective General English by RS Aggarwal

Q:   How do I prepare general knowledge for the SLAT?

A:
The general knowledge section consists of 12 questions in the SLAT. To prepare for this section, you can follow the given strategy: 1. Because the nature of the question is simple, you can complete this section in the last two months. 2. Consult any good general knowledge fact-based book, such as the Arihant or Manorama yearbook. 3. Make a list of important UN bodies, International events, organisation etc. 4. Continue to review this factual information to help you remember it better during the exam. 5. Practice mock exams and previous year's questions to analyze important topics. This section is more about memorizing factual data, which you can score with sufficient revision.

Q:   How can I prepare for the Analytical Reasoning section of SLAT?

A:

Candidates must comprehend the types of questions that will be asked in the Logical Reasoning section before beginning their preparation. They must consult the SLAT question banks from prior years for this. By practising more, you'll learn tips and shortcuts that make answering problems fast and readily possible. Obtaining the proper set of books for the logical reasoning section is also crucial. There are several publications on the market, both online and offline, that provide practise materials, a detailed and descriptive understanding of the subjects, and a method for answering the questions. The correct literature will aid candidates in more effective and efficient preparation. Try to stay focused as you practise SLAT mock exams and sample papers.

Q:   Is one month sufficient for solving SLAT practise sets?

A:

The number of SLAT practise sets depends on the number of practise sets an aspirant solves. If you want to solve fewer practise sets, then one month is enough to practise them. However, if you want to solve 30–40 practise sets of SLAT, then you need 2-3 months to do so. This much time will allow you to solve one practise set multiple times. As a result, you will learn about almost all the important concepts and topics from which questions are asked in the SLAT exam. Aspirants preparing for the SLAT also need to know the SLAT syllabus and practise topics related to it to score well in the entrance exam.

  • Update Your Knowledge Through Reading - Candidates can write about a topic in SLAT WAT if they have enough knowledge about it. Thus, it is advised that they read current affairs-related books and newspapers to get information about the important events that are going on around the world. In this way, they can update their knowledge about modern and contemporary topics about which questions may be asked in SLAT WAT.
  • Use your general Knowledge - You must have studied GK to prepare for the SLAT 2025 exam. Studying GK must have helped you learn about many important topics related to different areas. Thus, revising these topics can help you crack SLAT WAT.
  • Practising Writing - You will have to write using a computer system to appear in SLAT 2025 WAT. Thus, practise writing on a computer keyboard to increase your efficiency while taking the SLAT Written Ability Test.
  • Use Twitter to Update Your Knowledge - You can use Twitter to know about the latest events and issues in the world. To harness the power of Twitter as a social media platform, you can follow news channels and prominent lawyers to update you knowledge about national, international, and legal issues.

SLAT 2025 PI Preparation

To prepare for SLAT PI, use the following strategies:

  • Keep it simple - The first stage of all interviews is a candidate’s introduction. Learn to introduce yourself in the easiest possible way. This strategy will help you avoid confusion while giving your introduction and enhance your confidence.
  • Know yourself - SLAT PI will assess your personality. Thus, to succeed in this interview, you must know about yourself. Learn about your strengths and weaknesses by thinking about them and writing them down.
  • Be Honest and Humble - The exam authority checks your behaviour during the PI. Thus, you need to be humble towards them. Do not lie about anything because lying can make you stuck in the middle of the conversation. You will appear underconfident, confused, and dishonest to them.

How to Overcome Fear of Interaction for SLAT PI

If you find it difficult to speak in front of others or appear in an interview, you are not alone. Many people face this issue and it natural. SLAT PI is also an interview and if you are afraid of appearing in it, then we have specific tips to help you overcome this fear. These tips are mentioned below:

  1. Try to articulate your thoughts well by engaging in question-and-answer sessions with people older than you. Generally, people do not interact much with those who are older, but doing so will make you feel like you are engaged in a conversation with an authority figure. With practice, you will become more confident and find it easier to interact with the SET authorities during the SLAT PI.
  2. People often feel anxious about interacting with others because they lack experience in speaking fluently and articulating their thoughts. If you face this issue, here is a simple tip for you: Choose random topics from subject areas related to law, history, or current issues, and open the front camera on your phone. Then, start speaking for at least one minute on the selected topic. In the beginning, you might not be very good at it, but if you continue this exercise for at least 15 days, you will notice an improvement in your speech. Eventually, you will build confidence in speaking in front of the SLAT PI interviewers.
