The Neotia University BSc in Nautical Science is a three-year course, further divided into six semesters. The course structure is based on the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS). Each subject included in the course curiculum carries certain credit points. Some subjects inlcuded in the course curriculum are Marine Engineering Control Systems, Nautical Physics, Nautical Electronics, Ship Operating Techniques, etc.

In the case of merchant navy, you can get in by joining RL Institute of Nautical Science by taking up GP Rating or B.Tech in Nautical Science courses. For GP Rating, it requires a minimum of a 10th pass with 40% marks in Science, English, and Math. For the more advanced courses, you must qualify for 12th-grade, requiring Physics, Chemistry, and Math. You have to clear entrance exams like IMU-CET along with medical checks and physical requirements to be admitted. The latest cutoff information for the B.Sc. Nautical Science, HIMT Chennai - opening and closing rank of the 2024 admission in Nautical Science at HIMT Chennai is 169, but the closing rank for that year is 127, while for the SC, the opening rank is 118 and closing rank 65. ST, in this case, opening rank is 109 with closing rank 64. IMU CET scores are given as per eligibility criteria of which is not less than 60% at Class 12 level for PCM.
