Swami Shraddhanand and Hansraj are providing IAS coaching to the students. While Hansraj College has been conducting the IAS coaching classes since last year in association with a private institution, Shraddhanand College has recently issued a notification in this regard.
Two Delhi University colleges have been found to be offering IAS coaching, with varsity officials stating that these are purely government-funded academic institutions and they are not allowed to do so. Swami Shraddhanand and Hansraj are providing IAS coaching to the students. While Hansraj College has been conducting the IAS coaching classes since last year in association with a private institution, Shraddhanand College has recently issued a notification in this regard, said DU's Academic Council member Dr Alok Pandey, as reported by Times Now.
While commenting on the same, DU's Dean of Colleges, Balram Pani has said that an enquiry will be conducted as they are not allowed to conduct such coaching.
"Colleges are not allowed to do so. They are an educational institution. They cannot start giving coaching to students. I will call an enquiry into it. They are purely academic institutes for academic purposes. They cannot only give coaching to those who pay and leave other students behind," he said.
As per the notification released by Hansraj College, the fee amount varies on basis of the class 12 percentage. The minimum fee for a three-year coaching programme is Rs 75,000 and the maximum is Rs 1,50,000, the notification state
"The course fees payment mode is Demand Draft / NEFT / Cheque. These instruments should be drawn in favour of 'Principal, Hansraj College'" the notification read. It must be noted that only Delhi University students can enroll themselves in IAS classes offered by Hansraj College.
DU Vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh said that he has no knowledge about these colleges offering any such coaching classes.
