JEE Main paper leak: CBI raids 19 locations
Besides Delhi-NCR, searches were conducted across Pune, Jamshedpur, Indore and Bangalore in connection with the alleged manipulation of JEE Main 2021 exam.
The Crime Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches at 19 locations in multiple cities, including Delhi and NCR, in connection with alleged manipulation of Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2021 exam.
Besides Delhi, the searches were conducted across Pune, Jamshedpur, Indore and Bangalore. As many as 25 laptops, seven desktops, around 30 post-dated cheques along with voluminous “incriminating” documents and devices, including provisional degree certificate (PDC) mark sheets of different students. Several persons are being questioned, CBI said, Times Now reported.
JEE Main 2021 scam
In September 2021, the CBI arrested seven persons for manipulating the JEE Main examination and facilitating aspiring students to get admission in top National Institutes of Technology (NITs).
The case was registered on September 1, 2021, against a private company and others, including its directors, three employees and private persons (conduits) and subsequent raids were carried out at 20 locations across India, including Delhi NCR, Patna Pune and Jamshedpur. The investigating agency had seized over 20 laptops, seven computers, around 30 post-dated cheques, mark sheets of students and several other documents from these locations.
JEE Main is conducted for admission to BE/BTech and BArch/BPlan courses at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments. JEE Main is also an eligibility test for JEE Advanced, which is conducted for admission to IITs.
NTA conducts the JEE Main exam as a Computer Based Test in 290 cities and 25 cities outside India. JEE Main 2023 three papers, Paper 1 for admission to BE/BTech course, Paper 2A for BArch admission and Paper 2B for BPlan course admission. The total duration of the JEE main exam is three hours and have Multiple Choice (MCQ) and Integer Value (Numerical Value Answer) type questions. JEE Main 2023 Paper 1 have a total of 90 questions while Paper 2A and 2B have 82 and 105 questions respectively.
