Punjab Engineering College begins classes for BTech fourth semester students in physical mode. Director Baldev Setia said a decision on further reopening of the campus will be taken in due course of time.
The University Institute of Chemical Engineering Technology (UICET), Chandigarh, and Punjab Engineering College (PEC), Chandigarh, have resumed offline classes for more students. As per a report published in Hindustan Times, Panjab University (PU) had earlier allowed all departments to resume offline classes for postgraduate and undergraduate final-year students immediately after the conclusion of semester exams.
PEC had already allowed PhD, MTech and BTech students of sixth and eighth semesters to return to the campus from February 1, 2022. Now, the college has started classes for BTech fourth semester students in physical mode.
PEC Director Baldev Setia said they had received good response from the students. “A decision on further reopening of the campus will be taken in due course of time,” he said. Meanwhile, PEC is also planning to set up a central research facility on the campus, which is being set up as a part of the institute’s centenary celebration. The facility will be used by research scholars, faculty and students.
PU is also planning to set up another Student Centre (StuC) on the south campus in Sector 25 on the lines of the StuC on the main campus. The south campus includes the University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), University Institute of Applied Management Sciences (UIAMS), Dental Institute and other departments.
