IIT Placements 2021: IIT Kanpur sees record number of job offers

The institute received a total of 1,062 job offers till December 8, of which 885 have been accepted. The placement seasons at all IITs began on December 1. 

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has witnessed new highs in offers made by recruiters. Kickstarting the season virtually on December 1, the institute received a total of 1,062 offers at the end of Day 8, of which 885 have been accepted. This is in addition to the 156 pre-placement offers (PPOs) that were already accepted out of 207 offered. 

150% surge in international offers

At the end of Day 8, the institute received 47 international offers. This is a big jump of 150 per cent over last year when a total of 19 international offers were received. The highest packages so far are USD 2,74,250 for international and INR 1.2 crore for domestic. In total, 49 offers above INR 1 crore have been received so far. 

Top recruiters this year included Axtria, EXL, Graviton, Goldman Sachs, ICICI Bank, Intel, Microsoft, OLA, Rubrik, Samsung, Quadeye, Uber and Tiger Analytics.  

An official spokesperson of IIT Kanpur said, “IIT Kanpur has witnessed excellent hiring trends across sectors this time. The numbers are very encouraging and much higher than the previous years. This growing trust the recruiters are bestowing upon the institute and its students is reflective of IIT Kanpur’s resolution to thrive for excellence.” 

So far, a total of 1,041 students have secured jobs through acceptance of 156 PPOs and 885 placement Phase-1 offers. Until Day 8, 287 companies finished their recruitment process, and more are lined up for next few days. 

1201 students placed at IIT Bombay 

Meanwhile, students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay) have accepted a total of 1,201 job offers till December 7 (Day 6). As per a release issued by the institute, December 7 marked the sixth day of IIT Bombay placements, with a total of 255 companies participating in the recruitment drive and 240 companies recruited students till December 7 

The companies that made the maximum offers are Qualcomm (40 offers), Samsung Research Institute and Intel Corporation. Top international offers came from Rakuten Group (26 offers) and Uber Systems, USA (USD 2,87,550). 

55% undergrads get top placements in 3 days at IIT Bhubaneswar 

According to IIT Bhubaneswar, more than 55 per cent of BTech students have got job offers during the first three days of the recruitment drive. There is a 50 per cent increase in median salary from 16 lakh per annum (LPA) to 24 LPA of last year, the institute said. 

At IIT Hyderabad, 466 job offers highest so far 

As per the IIT Hyderabad Placement 2021 report that was released on December 8, 2021, students have received a total of 466 job offers so far, which is considered the highest during the first phase of campus placement. A total of 104 companies participated in the recruitment drive. The second phase of IIT Hyderabad Placement 2021 would begin in January 2022.
