NMC puts draft regulations in public domain; Invites comments

The National Medical Commission (NMC), in accordance with Sections 27,30,31 & 57 of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, has placed the draft regulations in the public domain and invited the comments from the public in general and experts, stakeholders or organisations for the proposed "National Medical Commission, Registered Medical Practitioner (Professional Conduct) Regulations, 2022".

The comments must be sent latest by June 22 at the email emrb.ethics@nmc.org.in.

The notification reads, "These regulations may be called the National Medical Commission Registered Medical Practitioner (Professional Conduct) Regulations, 2022 and shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette."

NMC issued circular against internship fees and non-payment of stipend

The Commission recently issued a circular against the illegal internship fee charged to interns and also about the non-payment of stipends to the interns.

On non-payment of stipend to interns, now National Student Union Of India (NSUI), Karnataka is planning to seek justice through the high court.

Sanjay Raj, State Secretary, University Incharge RGUHS said, “Before the movement through court, NMC released the notification on May 19. It’s a good move that NMC is at least talking about the stipend issue after 3-4 years and has directed the government and medical education department to take action regarding this. The government must direct all private medical and dental colleges to pay stipends. If not, we will seek justice in court,” as reported by Bangalore Mirror.
