UPSC Result 2022 Live: Civil Services (IAS) Mains Results Soon at upsc.gov.in

UPSC releases the marks of the non-recommended candidates for other recruitment institutions to recruit the candidates best suitable to them. UPSC released the marks of non-recommended candidates on October 27.

The candidates should understand that the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will release the Civil Service (IAS) main 2022 result anytime now. It is expected that the result is ready but waiting for the approval of competent authority to release.

UPSC IAS 2023 notification will be released online on February 1. The Commission will activate the apply online link for the candidates with the release of official notification. The last date to apply for the exam will be February 21, 2023. 

The candidates should note that the Commission can release the UPSC IAS main 2022 result anytime from now. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) does not provide the exact date for the release of Civil Service Main (written) result 2022. UPSC only notifies the application and exam dates. The admit card dates are also tentative( three weeks before the exam date).

UPSC released the Civil Services Main 2022 Question Papers for all the compulsory and optional subjects just after the exam. The candidates can download these question papers from the official website.

The Commission releases the UPSC Main result in two pdfs. First result pdf contains the roll number followed by the names of the candidates. The candidates can check their IAS result 2022 by searching their roll number in either of the results pdf. The candidates can search for their names also but they need to cross-check their roll number again because there can be over one candidate with the same name.

The candidates are called for the Medical Examination on the next day of UPSC personality test. The candidates need to stay in New Delhi for the next day (after the interview) for the medical examination. The guidelines for the medical examination is notified in the official notification. There is no syllabus defined for the UPSC personality test. The official notification mention that the candidate will be interviewed by a Board who will have before them a record of the candidate’s career. The candidate will be asked questions on matters of general interest. The object of the Interview/Personality Test is to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for a career in public service by a Board of competent and unbiased observers. The Interview/Personality Test is intended to judge the mental calibre of a candidate. In broad terms, this is really an assessment of not only intellectual qualities but also social traits and interest in current affairs.

The candidates should prepare the current affairs daily so that they can answer the questions asked in the UPSC personality test. The newspaper of the interview day is very important for the interview.

Some of the qualities to be judged are mental alertness, critical powers of assimilation, clear and logical exposition, balance of judgement, variety and depth of interest, ability for social cohesion and leadership, intellectual and moral integrity. 

The technique of the Interview/Personality Test is not that of a strict cross-examination but of a natural, though directed and purposive conversation which is intended to reveal the mental qualities of the candidate.

The Interview/Personality Test is not intended to be a test either of the specialized or general knowledge of the candidates which has been already tested through their written papers.
Candidates are expected to have taken an intelligent interest not only in their special subjects of academic study but also in the events which are happening around them both within and outside their own State or Country as well as in modern currents of thought and in new discoveries which should rouse the curiosity of well-educated youth.

The official UPSC notification provides all the information about the list of All-India Services and Central Civil Services for which the notification is issued. The three all India services are

1. Indian Administrative Service
2. Indian Police Service
3. Indian Forest Service (prelims only).

Sometimes two or more candidates secure equal marks in the UPSC result. In those cases, UPSC has notified the following rules for such resolution. These rules will come into play when two or more candidates have the same aggregate total marks in the IAS exam. The UPSC has defined the resolution mechanism as follows.

1. If the marks secured by two or more candidates are the same in the aggregate total (out of 2025), the candidate who had secured more marks in the compulsory papers (Essay, GS I, GSII, GS III, GSIV) and the personality test (IAS interview) combined will be given preference over the others.

2. In case, the candidates are tied in the above situation also, the candidate who is older will be given preference over the younger one.

The UPSC conducted the IAS prelims 2022 exam on June 5 in offline mode. The Candidates can see here the IAS prelims cutoff of previous years because this year's cutoff will be released after the declaration of final result.

UPSC IAS main exam is a descriptive exam where the candidates are required to write the essay-type conventional answers in the question-cum-answer booklet provided by the Commission. The candidates can see here the UPSC IAS previous year cutoff to anticipate their chances of selection in the UPSC IAS result 2022.

But it cannot be a bench mark from any sense because the difficulty level of the question paper cannot be ascertained and classified. 

UPSC IAS main result 2022 for the main exam was expected on Friday but the Commission did not release the Civil Service Main result. Now it is expected that the Commission can release the result anytime. So the candidates should keep visiting here for the latest updates for UPSC main result 2022.

The Commission maintains a consolidated reserve list after the declaration of result. The Commission provides the category-wise number of candidates present in the reserve list. The Commission recommends the candidates from this consolidated reserve list whenever a new requisition arises. The Consolidated reserve list remains valid till the UPSC accepts the vacancy requisition for the next year's notification. 

The Commission will release the UPSC IAS Main (written) result 2022 soon. The Commission will release the roll numbers and names of the selected candidates in the result pdf online. The candidates can search for their roll number or name in the Civil Service (IAS) 2022 result PDF.

The Union Public Service Commission released a notice that it will conduct the UPSC IAS personality test in January/February 2023. There will be around 2,500 candidates whose personality tests will be conducted at Dholpur House in New Delhi. The personality test will be over by the third or last week of February. The UPSC result 2022 (final) will be released within a week from the completion of the UPSC personality test.

The Commission will ask the candidates to fill out the Details Application Form (DAF) for the UPSC Personality Test online. After initial scrutiny, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will release the date-wise schedule of UPSC personality test.

UPSC IAS Main result 2022 will be released online only. The Commission will release the Civil Service (IAS) main (written) result 2022 online only and one copy of the result print-out will be posted on the UPSC notice board outside the Dholpur House, New Delhi. 

The candidates should note that the Commission will release the UPSC IAS Personality Test Dates in the Civil Service (IAS) Mains Result 2022 notice.

The candidates who will be declared qualified for the UPSC personality test will have high chance of selection. The Commission will select one candidate out of 2.5 candidates. So the probability of selection is quite high after clearing the UPSC main exam 2022.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) asks the case studies in the Ethics Paper. The UPSC defines the Ethics syllabus in detail and asks the case studies based on the topics mentioned in the official notification. The UPSC IAS main Ethics syllabus is summarised below:

Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude 

Ethics paper include questions to test the candidates’ attitude and approach to issues relating to integrity, probity in public life and problem-solving approach to various issues and conflicts faced in dealing with society. Questions may utilise the case study approach to determine these aspects. The following broad areas will be covered: 

• Ethics and Human Interface: Essence, determinants and consequences of Ethics in-human actions; dimensions of ethics; ethics - in private and public relationships. Human Values - lessons from the lives and teachings of great leaders, reformers and administrators; the role of family society and educational institutions in inculcating values. 
• Attitude: Content, structure, function; its influence and relation with thought and behaviour; moral and political attitudes; social influence and persuasion. 
• Aptitude and foundational values for Civil Service, integrity, impartiality and nonpartisanship, objectivity, dedication to public service, empathy, tolerance and compassion towards the weaker sections. 
• Emotional intelligence: Concepts, and their utilities and application in administration and governance. 
• Contributions of moral thinkers and philosophers from India and the world. 
• Public/Civil service values and Ethics in Public administration: Status and problems; ethical concerns and dilemmas in government and private institutions; laws, rules, regulations and conscience as sources of ethical guidance; accountability and ethical governance; strengthening of ethical and moral values in governance; ethical issues in international relations and funding; corporate governance. 
• Probity in Governance: Concept of public service; Philosophical basis of governance and probity; Information sharing and transparency in government, Right to Information, Codes of
• Ethics, Codes of Conduct, Citizen’s Charters, Work culture, Quality of service delivery, Utilization of public funds, challenges of corruption. 
• Case Studies on the above issues.

The Commission notifies the UPSC prelims syllabus is the official notification every year but the syllabus is not defined in detail. The Commission mentions the name of the topics only for the UPSC prelims exam. The UPSC IAS prelims syllabus is mentioned below:

• Current events of national and international importance (Current Affairs)
• History of India and Indian National Movement
• Indian and World Geography-Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and the World
• Indian Polity and Governance-Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc
• Economic and Social Development-Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc
• General issues on environmental ecology, bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization
• General Science

UPSC Civil Service Prelims exam will serve as a screening exam for the IRMS main exam. The UPSC will not conduct a separate prelims exam for the candidates who applied for the IRMS exam (as done for the Indian Forest Examination). The selected candidates will be declared selected for the IRMS main exam. Even the Civil Service Main exam for the below-given subjects will be deemed as the IRMS main exam and the selected candidates will be called for the personality test of 100 marks.

The Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) 2023 notification will be released simultaneously with the Civil Service 2023 notification on February 1. The IRMS Exam will follow the same schedule as notified for the Civil Service Exam 2023.

Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) vacancies were included for the first time this year in the UPSC exam. There were 150 vacancies of IRMS which were added later in the UPSC vacancies 2022. Now, from next year, the exam will be conducted separately as informed by the Ministry of Railway.

UPSC will conduct the personality test at its Dholpur House Office, New Delhi. The Candidates, irrespective of the state of residence need to appear in the interview at the Dholpur House only. Besides the documents mentioned in the UPSC notice, the candidates are required to carry one photo identity proof whose number was mentioned in the UPSC IAS 2022 application form. 

The number of vacancies in the UPSC IAS exam 2023 is set to decrease because the Ministry of Railway has announced that UPSC will hold a separate examination for the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) which is the part of Civil Service Exam. In the UPSC 2022 exam, there are 150 vacancies notified for IRMS. 

The Ministry of Railway informed through a press release that Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold a specially designed exam for the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) from 2023. The exam will consist of Prelims and Main stages of examination. The candidates should note that the UPSC was holding Special Class Railway Apprentice (SCRA) exam for some of the special posts of Indian Railways earlier. But the SCRA exam was discontinued in 2015.

Department of Personnel and Training releases the distribution of UPSC vacancies every year after the declaration of result (final). The total number of UPSC 2022 vacancies are 1,011. The candidates can see here the tentative distribution of vacancies for some important Services.

The candidates can see above that only four services form the 50 per cent share of the total vacancies. The number of vacancies in other services will be released later. 

UPSC reimburses the lowest airfare from the airport located nearest to the candidate's residence. The UPSC releases a notice regarding the same every year. The candidates are required to book their ticket of Economy class from the approved booking agent only. The details of reimbursement are mentioned in the notice. 

The UPSC main exam is a Descriptive type exam where the candidates are required to write essay type answers in the Question-cum-Answer booklet provided by the Commission. There are 9 essay type conventional papers in the UPSC Main (written) exam. The structure of UPSC main exam can be summarised as below:

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) releases the Civil Service (IAS) cutoff 2022 after the completion of exam process that is after the declaration of final result. 

The candidates should note that various candidates make mistakes in calculating the age for the UPSC exam. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) calculates the age of the candidate from August 1 of the exam year. For example, for UPSC IAS 2023 exam, the age of the candidate will be counted from August 1, 2023.

The Commission lay down all the eligibility criteria in the official notification. The candidates can see below the age limit prescribed for the UPSC exam.

Lower Age Limit - 21 years

Upper Age Limit - 32 years

Besides the above, the Commission provides age relaxation to certain categories. The age relaxation provided in the official notification is given below:

The official notification mention the procedure to count an attempt in the Civil Service exam. If a candidate appears in any of the papers of the Civil Service (IAS) Prelims exam, this will be counted as the attempt of the candidate. 

There are three All-India Services in the nation. The important point here to note is any new All India Service can be created only through an Act of Parliament. Central Government can not create a new All India Service on its own. There are only three All-India Services in India. Their names are:

1. Indian Administrative Service (IAS)
2. Indian Police Service (IPS)
3. India Forest Service (IFS)

The Indian Foreign Service is a Central Civil Service but commands respect equal to the All-India Services.

UPSC conducts the Civil Service Exam every year to recruit candidates for All India Service and Central Civil Service. The Commission has limited the number of attempts to each category of candidates in the following way.

Besides the above 25 subjects, there are 23 language subjects available to opt as an optional subject in the UPSC IAS Main exam. The list of Literatures subject is given below:

UPSC notified the list of optional subjects in the Civil Service notification 2022. The candidates can select any one of the 25 optional subjects notified in the official notification. The list of optional subjects is given below:

UPSC conducted the Civil Service (IAS) main exam 2022 at the selected centres only. The Commission released the UPSC main 2022 exam schedule on August 2, 2022. The candidates can see here the UPSC main exam 2022 schedule:

The Commission released a notice on November 24 mentioning the list of documents required on the day of UPSC personality test. The candidates are required to keep the original and one self-attested copy of all the relevant certificates with them on the day of the interview:

• Degree of Graduation or equivalent examination with mark sheets issued by the University.
• Matriculation Certificate for the date of birth confirmation purpose
• An internship Completion Certificate for MBBS Degree or any other Medical Degree will be required for the doctors.    
• The doctors having a degree from a foreign university, the equivalence certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities/ National Board of Examination (for MBBS or any other Medical Examination) will be required.
• Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Classes Certificate/Income & Asset Certificate for Economically Weaker Section in the prescribed format issued on or before 22.02.2022.
  The candidates belonging to the PwD category will have to show a certificate in support of their claim issued before February 22, 2022.
• Hailing from a Certificate issued by the Competent Authority issued before February 22, 2022.
• Ex-servicemen Certificate.

UPSC conducted the Civil Service Main Exam at the selected exam centres only. The total number of UPSC main exam centres is 24 only. The list of UPSC main exam centres is given below:

The Ministry of Home informed the Parliament last year that IPS need more cadre strength and hence the Ministry will recruit 200 IPS officers every year till further notice. 

The number of IAS officers recruited every year in 180. The number is based on the B.S. Baswan Committee report.

There are 1,011 vacancies in the UPSC exam 2022. The original notification mentioned 861 vacancies in the original notification but later 150 vacancies of Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) were added by the Commission.

The UPSC main result (written) is expected anytime soon. Around 2500 candidates will be selected for the UPSC personality test which will be conducted in the second half of January and February 2023.  

The candidates should note that the Commission selected 13,090 candidates for the UPSC Main exam 2022. We can assume that around 13 thousand candidates appeared in the exam. This will make the competition tough in the main exam.
