However, DU requires candidates to have completed their Class XII from a single recognised board.Regarding the cutoff, DU sets specific eligibility criteria and cutoff percentages for each course. The passing marks of the NIOS 10th board examinations are usually taken to be at 33 percent marks in any given subject. Therefore, as far as any exam is considered, students require achieving at least 33% marks in their respective theory, practical, etc. If students have failed any one of them, they would also be getting the chance through a compartment examination for the student. NIOS offers such flexibility that one can clear his exams within a certain number of attempts. Yet, it is always wise to check the latest passing criteria as offered in the official guidelines of the respective NIOS.

You can apply to a number of colleges across India with an NIOS marksheet as NIOS is recognised by the Government of India. Most universities and colleges accept NIOS certificates for undergraduate and postgraduate courses if the eligibility criteria are met. You can apply for various courses like B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., B.Tech, and other professional programs. Some of the elite institutions might have additional requirements, such as entrance exams or higher cutoffs, so the individual college policy should be verified. It is always advisable to check with the college or university for specific admission guidelines.
