UPSC aspirant,

Most of the job prospects for forensic scientists are in government sector, particularly in various law enforcement agencies such as police, legal system, the investigative services of the central government and state governments. However, some private agencies too offer job opportunities to those who have some qualification in the field. A major chunk of trained forensic scientists are hired by the Intelligence Bureau (IB), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), etc. Another interesting career, rather the most attractive option for forensic scientists is teaching in institutes which impart education in forensic Science.

You may clear NET exam or some other state entrance and go for lectureship in government colleges, and also in private colleges.
If you like your subject and are interested in research, Ph.D is the way to go. Be it at IIT, IISER, TIFR, IISc and so on. Choose a top class institute and a good guide with whom you would be comfortable to work.
Going for a Ph.D abroad is also a great option, but the choice depends on your circumstances and wishes.
Clearing GATE exam and giving PSU entrances paves the way for government jobs (other than lectureship, said above) too. The salary is good. You can also join as a scientist in government... View more

M.Sc. physical chemistry have plenty of opportunities in research, academic and industries. Paint industries are always one of the primary sector for Physical Chemistry students. But, I would not suggest joining industries straight way after M.Sc. as the pay scale is not great. You should pursue at least M.Tech. If you are interested in research or academic profession, M.Sc. in physical chemistry has good scope. You can opt for PhD and choose the specific part of Physical Chemistry which you like most. For example, you... View more
