Experience at Sheffield Hallam University
Tips: I would recommend students to be bold and confident when they come to a different country. Not to take part in any illegal activities. Work only for the hours allowed and concentrate more on improving the skills for the post-graduate work. Start applying early. Enjoy your time here and also be cautious.
Likes (Part time work): When I came to UK there were so many opportunity for part time. However, when more number of students came in the opportunity declined exponentially. Students are allowed to work for only 20 hours. So I used to work part time on weekends and work on my college assignments and applied for the jobs whilst at university.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are no proper restaurants like a typical Indian restaurant. I would say it's better to cook your own meal to save. If you want to dine outside then it would cost you around 10-15 which is 1000- 1500 rupees. And a normal subway would cost 6 pounds. So I would definitely recommend learning basic cooking before coming to any foreign country.

Try to embrace the cultural differences.
Tips: There is always a cultural difference when travelling to a different country. I would say embrace that difference and make this time to blend into the system. There are multiple scholarships, I would say they were difficult to get but it's always worth the try.
Likes (Public transportation): University is located at the heart of the city. So the public transportation is very reliable. There are city buses, trains and trams throughout the city which makes transportation easy and from this, you can actually save a lot of money. Bus offers a discount price for students which is 13 per ride.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I would say there is recession going on throughout the world. There are many companies that are willing to sponsor jobs but for freshers it's quite competitive. It is better to come with the job experience in hand for easy access to the job market. However, if the right skill and confidence is there you are a winner wherever you go.

Affordable and the best college!
Tips: Students should do research about the modules of their courses. They should check ranking of the university according to their chosen course. Do they want to live in a bigger city or a cosmopolitan city because Sheffield doesn't have so much to offer as compared to London and other big cities?
Likes (Value for money): Sheffield city is the 4th biggest city of United Kingdom and it is very cheap compared to others like Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Essex, Reeding and London. Quality of life is also very good with less population and less traffic. No crime is there. Everything is so cheap.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Indian food isn't available so easily including the Indian groceries. When I came to this college, the whole country was under national lockdown and because of that, the options for food and groceries were so limited that I had to suffer a lot but now, the things have changed. Lockdown restrictions have been removed and now lots of options are available to go out and get whatever we want.

Difficult at the start but the best experience throughout.
Tips: At the start, it will be a little difficult to manage everything at the same time. However, as time went by, it became a beautiful journey and a good experience overall. It was fun trying out a new culture and a totally different approach to education. However, it would have been better if I had done a little research on the pattern of study before starting.
Likes (Post study jobs): Very few companies offer sponsor visas, which makes it difficult to apply for jobs. Also, companies often require applicants to have a driver's license, which makes it difficult for freshers to get a job.
Dislikes (Indian Food): I prefer cooking myself because of the different food choices. There are a lot of Indian restaurants to go to once in a while with a lot of food options but are a little expensive. Also, there are a lot of Indian shops to get the ingredients to cook.

University of Reading: Home to new experiences! Become bold and confident.
Tips: Be more open to new environments, cultures, and academic styles. Joining different clubs can make the transition easier.
Received a scholarship of £4000 by applying to centenary and subject scholarships through the university website.
The structure for the course is good but I wish it included more practical work throughout course.
Likes (Indian Food): Lot of options for Indian food, and Indian grocery stores are also available within a reasonable distance. Many restaurants offer Indian food and are also suitable for vegetarians. I was also lucky enough to be able to do part-time in an Indian restaurant as part of the front office.
Dislikes (Internships): Although the university publishes opportunities that are available for students, they are most often not for master’s students and very less opportunities for overseas students. And as an international student, you will not be able to apply for internships due to work permit restrictions.

Good college and value for money.
Tips: I have become a more responsible person once I reached here. In terms of knowledge, I can say I have gained practical experience in different domains which were new to me. I did get a scholarship of 3000 pounds and that was based on my IELTS score and I can say I am fully satisfied with it.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty is quite approachable. They give out their time when the students can actually go out to them and ask queries. Diversity in teaching style and methodology is present as various methods are taught for the same subject and it enhances our knowledge.
Dislikes (Internships): In terms of applying for the internships, the help is given by the university. Also Reading being closer to London gives the opportunity to apply for jobs in a wider range of companies and in various domains. Some internships are indeed present in the field of study.

Course modules are good for this course
Tips: Make sure to have knowledge of modules before joining. Professors only read the ppts they have made, we have to apply those practically to understand. Exam patterns/assignments are different than what we have in our country. So you have to make extra efforts to excel in the course modules.

Hardships of the International students in the UK.
Tips: Coming to the UK at this time of recession and spending so much money on university fees is not so worth it. But if money is not a factor for you to worry about and you want to learn more then UOR is great. If you are lucky you might get a job by trying hard. But then the salaries they offer you might not be enough for your monthly survival or what we at least expect to get after completing a degree and spending tons of money.
Dislikes (Indian Food): It is not so easy to find a suitable job in the UK as a graduate even for an entry-level job they expect you to have experience for 3 years and if you find a job then you will need a sponsorship from this company to stay here which is another big challenge.

Genuine Review of my experience
Tips: You can expect the best possible university experience. But you should be prepared to work hard and be independent and self-reliant. Friendly atmosphere, great faculty, excellent laboratory equipment, Great Modules, top class Library, workshops and practical work.
Likes (Public transportation): Public Transportation in Reading is superb. Cheap and readily available. 24/7 bus service to all parts of reading town. There is a bus which will directly take you to the Campus. You will get a bus every 15 minds. You can get bus pass for a week or monthly at affordable price.
Dislikes (Internships): The are guidance available. But there is no placement cell for my department. There are no internships available for students who passed out. That's one issue. We often get job and career fares, but they mostly help us to interact with people from different companies. But they don't really hire you.
