MS in Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence - Batch of 2024
3.4
Limited support for freshers.
Tips: There was more of a lifestyle shift than a cultural shift for me as I moved to the UK as soon as I finished my undergrad. I started working part-time jobs to pay the bills. Due to the variety of restaurants and tiffin services available, British Indian food can be a bit bland. I prefer cooking, but there are also great local restaurants for students to explore. There is an area in Sheffield called London Road, which is known for its variety of food joints. I am satisfied with the university experience but not the course fully.
Dislikes (Internships): Due to limited guidance in finding or applying for relevant opportunities. Additionally, the internships are not directly provided by the university, and I received few responses from the companies I applied to. In my experience, the internships that I applied for were not directly relevant to the course of study.

Academically, university is excellent but personally it’s going to be extreme lonely
Tips: Anticipate well towards huge culture shocks and it's going to be very lonely so join societies. Try building a lot of connections and attending lectures. Finding part time is extremely difficult in the first year but you need to keep applying. Everything is going to be expensive.

MSc Urban and Regional Planning - Batch of 2023
4.1
Best life experience which I always wanted to have. I made good networks.
Tips: Before joining any college in the UK every student needs to know that you have to compromise with your comfort of life and work hard. Rather than going there and crying make sure you are ready for it. You have to learn time management. Manage your currency. Have a part-time job which is stable. Work on your assignments. Make your network strong.
Likes (Student Life): Considering Sheffield as a university town you will not have a campus, the whole city is your campus. You get to meet new people and there are many events organised, job fair etc. I was a part of the Indian society there. We had events organised by them.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There were few Indian-origin restaurants but mainly provided food as per UK taste. There is a restaurant named Maveli which provides good Kerala-type food. Cooking food at home would be preferable as having Indian food outside would be expensive. Best is to cook your own food as per your taste.

This University is a good choice.
Tips: The university is well recognised amongst the recruiters in the UK. The programs are very well structured and the professors are very helpful.
However, the Durham as a city is very dull. There is not much to do around. There are very less opportunities for part-time jobs because the city is so small.
The 1st month in Durham is very difficult as the city is very cold, windy and hilly. You will have to walk a lot on inclined paths. So it is better to be mentally and physically prepared for that.
Likes (Safety): People around the city are very helpful.
There are porters in every college to help students whenever needed.
I have hardly faced any kind of racism from the people around me.
The university has a night line for the female students to drop them to their destination late at night at a very low price of 2 pounds.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are hardly 2-3 Indian restaurants in Durham and the food is not that great. The taste doesn’t justify the high prices. Cooking on my own is so much more affordable and satisfying. The ingredients are easily available around the city. There is only one Indian grocery store though.

Overwhelming, challenging and beautiful
Tips: Students should know the essence of Durham is concerned with staying in college accommodation which offers a sense of community and belonging. Secondly, Durham is a very close-knit and quiet city and the weather is mostly rainy and cold. Thirdly, the course a student selects will get challenging eventually.
