The university is good and there are lots of on-campus events happening simultaneously.
Tips: Before joining the University of Birmingham, it is essential to manage their time well, especially with dividing the academic workload, networking with professors and peers, and getting involved in campus activities. Also, be prepared for a different teaching style and expectations compared to home. The city is generally safe and the campus facilities are good. There are occasional cons in certain parts of the city particularly at night. The overall crime rate is low, but it's always important to stay alert and follow safety tips. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my experiences.
Dislikes (Indian Food): While it is sometimes difficult to find authentic dishes from my country, I have been able to find local stores that serve familiar flavours. The availability of ingredients in international stores or markets also helps, but certain spices or delicacies are often harder to find.

Tips: I did transition after coming here. There was a huge cultural shift I faced during the first month, but I eventually got used to it. I did avail a scholarship. It was granted by my university for International students and was worth 3000. On-campus part-time jobs are mostly taken by the locals. They don't prefer international students. They have set so high standards for even part-time jobs on campus. Managing academics and part-time at the same time is a bit hectic. The minimum payout is 10.42 for those who are above the age of 21. Overall, I'm satisfied with my university in every aspect.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Well-experienced faculty members from all over the world. They were easily accessible and ready to help at any time. Classes were conducted in seminar halls with a video recording option, so we can access them at any time after that throughout our lifetime.

Tips: Students should know that they have excellent academic programs and a good community. Also, they should come prepared to deal with the weather and the cost of living. I had to transition to a new culture, new classes, and new living in this city. But overall, I'm very happy with my city and my course here in the UK. They’ve provided invaluable learning opportunities and personal growth.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation is well connected at reliable and convenient. The campus is easily accessible through buses trains and Metro making computing within the city seamless. Public transport is affordable with student discount discounts and frequent services ensuring smooth travel for students and residents alike.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The process can be lengthy and requires meeting strict criteria like continuous employment and Visa eligibility. If given a chance I would consider permanent settlement due to the country's thriving cyber security industry and cultural diversity which alliance well with my professional and personal interests. However, visa policies and job market competition remain key factors to evaluate.

Tips: The faculty is the major highlight of the university. Everyone was an expert in their own fields. Their ability to blend theoretical concepts with practical applications made learning engaging. The program offered numerous hands-on projects that allowed us to apply what we learned in real-world scenarios. The feature of assigning a personal tutor to every student helped everyone get the academic guidance and support they needed. Besides, there are numerous events, activities and seminars histye by the college for students so do participate in it. Try to connect with the alumni before joining and ask them about the course, classes, internship and college. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my experiences.

The expertise of the faculty and the comprehensive support I received from the department played a crucial role in my academic and personal growth. The best experience for a student.
Tips: There definitely was a cultural shift for me. But nothing most people can't handle. It took me a while to learn certain things that India didn't teach us. I got a commonwealth scholarship of 2000 pounds. About the university, the infrastructure and technology blew my mind. It is the perfect place to study.
Likes (Safety): Birmingham is a very safe city. Even through the night it is mostly alive. One thing to keep in mind is to avoid the canals. In the year and a half that I lived there, I did not have any bad experience. As long as we don't go out of line, I'd say we will have no trouble.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): They have no placement drives like the ones we have in India. We have to look for jobs ourselves. Given that the UK is in a recession, it is very difficult to find jobs in the country. They prefer hiring a fresher who is from the UK or EU rather than someone for whom they would have to sponsor a visa.

Tips: There are many cultural shifts once you arrive here in the UK. Coming here is one thing and starting living and sustaining here is another thing, From managing studies, and exam pressure to financial hurdles, and homesickness an individual has their journey uniquely. In the UK, people tend to be more individuals and have fewer family links and social organisations. India's culture is more closer and conservative than Britain's. No, I did not avail of any scholarships, though advised to apply for them as quickly as possible. I am quite satisfied with the university, programme and country. We just need to stay focused and keep working hard until we find some good full-time opportunity.
Likes (Student Life): A typical day starts early in the morning, getting ready for either a lecture to attend or a sports session such as swimming, badminton, basketball, gym or tennis etc. Then after coming back, prepare food for lunch and evening, then study and go to sleep after some fun time with friends. The most enjoyable thing that I used to do in my college life was going to play sports and get myself involved in activities such as fitness and sports. There are diverse events organised by various societies under the Guild of Students, ranging from cultural fests to simple events on going on campus or student accommodation. I used to participate as maximum as possible if I had spare time to socialize and have fun in those events. Student clubs are there for all types of interests, academic programs, backgrounds, nationalities, religious beliefs, etc. Such as business societies, photography, gaming, Hindu, Islamic, and Sikh societies, International Students Club, volunteering and UNICEF communities, dance clubs, etc.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The only opportunities for students available on campus are Career Fair, where recruiters and companies visit campus and interact with the students directly. Very few sponsor visas, for the rest, students have to take up graduate visa route on their own. Most of the roles are for freshers such as graduate scheme roles, graduate management or trainee, financial auditor, etc. The starting average annual salary is 30,000 pounds.

Tips: When you're looking for scholarships, it's important to look at the job market in the field you're interested in. If you can get a university-sponsored internship, that would be a great opportunity to gain experience and get paid. Birmingham is a city with multiple universities and a big crowd of students, so it can be difficult to find part-time work, on or off campus. The faculty is very friendly and the classes are very interactive and engaging.
Tips: I have grown as a person, become more independent, and more mature since entering university. There were some cultural shocks and differences, but mostly how kind and accepting most people were. That feels like the norm now. I did not receive any scholarships, but I am very satisfied with my university experience.
Likes (Safety): I have a very active social life at the University of Birmingham. I spend my time studying, attending class, and working out at the gym. If I have any energy left, I like to go out with friends. There are many social events on campus that I can attend. The student body is very diverse, and everyone is kind and accepting of everyone else. The staff is very helpful and always there to support and talk to new students.
Dislikes (Student Life): The staff at the University of Birmingham are very kind and helpful. The university is incredibly inclusive and diverse, and the staff is very attentive to everyone's problems. The faculty does its best to offer fruitful solutions and help students and staff in the best way they can. The staff is very diverse and well spread out.

Tips: Coming to study at the University of Birmingham is a good place to get accustomed to changes in your lifestyle. The university is very welcoming, and there are quite a few scholarships that you can apply for on a merit basis. I have not applied for Permanent Settlement in the country, but I would consider staying here if I could. The University makes you aware of many opportunities that could help you transition into settling down here. Overall, I am very satisfied with the University.
Likes (Part time work): The University of Birmingham provides several opportunities for part-time and casual work. You can manage both academics and part-time work, but off-campus opportunities may require more time and effort. You get paid on an hourly basis, at an average rate of 11 per hour.

Thriving at the Univeristy of Birmingham: Independence, diversity, and opportunity.
Tips: As for the University of Birmingham, it is a great university that prepares you well for the world where you are no longer a kid who only has to worry about grades. Coming here has taught me to be independent financially and mentally. The campus is very diverse which lets me immerse in different cultural experiences. The student union is always there to support you from safety to mental well-being. The University also celebrates every cultural festival from Diwali to Ramadan, which never gives you the feeling of a home away from home. I did secure an academic scholarship for my course which is funded by the university themselves. Although the cost of living is quite high at the moment. But other than that, this is an amazing opportunity for me where I get to do a course I love at an exceptional Russel group university at the heart of Birmingham that offers all the support and advice.
Likes (Internships): The University has a huge careers network, with each college having its own. They provide excellent one-to-one advice on getting work experience, internships, volunteering, full-time jobs, etc. They also provide several other services like mock interviews that prepare you for the real challenge in the application process. For students with zero or very limited experience, the University offers a programme called B-Experienced, through which internships provided by companies offer special spots for students from the University of Birmingham. Hence when it comes to work experience and career in general, the University of Birmingham is a great choice.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The current UK government has tightened immigration policies, which might make permanent immigration options a bit harder. Also, if you secure a good job in a company that is ready to sponsor you, then that's great. However, most postgraduate students struggle with this aspect.

Tips: It is always better to connect with multiple people and faculty members to know what's going on near you and what opportunities exist for the future. I also think joining societies is a great option to keep the stream off while enjoying your university experience. Public transportation in Birmingham is good. It connects the whole city and buses are frequent. However, buses may be delayed due to various reasons, which can be a problem for students commuting to lectures or work during peak hours. I suggest checking the routes and buses beforehand so that you know the average commute time.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I was an international student at the University of Birmingham. I found that there were no jobs at all for international students. I faced extreme competition in finding jobs, and the university didn't provide any guidance or help with these issues. This made the situation worse than it might have been otherwise.

University of Birmingham has a beautiful and huge campus.
Tips: The campus is beautiful and there are a lot of activities to do, so you won't feel bored during your initial couple of weeks. After that you get busy with assignments and academics, so you'll spend most of the time going back and forth from the lectures to your accommodation, and part-time work. Like in India, there's not much pressure on studies, which can either be a good or a bad thing. I'm happy with the fact that the university is well-recognised and gives students career guidance. The current job market is tough in the UK to get a job, so only time will tell whether it's worth it or not.
Likes (Safety): Safety can be a matter of different experiences for different people. I never had safety concerns even when walking down the street late at night. Of course, you need to be a bit cautious of your surroundings. The campus does provide an app, and some safety gadgets during the welcome week, as well as a free bus to Sell Oak to travel when it gets dark during winter.
Dislikes (Public transportation): You can travel by train or bus. Buses are usually more connected than trains but are generally late, and it doesn't matter if you check the scheduled time on Google Maps or bus stop, they will make you wait for 15-20 minutes 90% of the time. I also don't think public transport is very affordable. It's 2 pounds for a ticket whether you want to get off at the Next bus stop or after the 15 bus stop. A monthly bus pass is now 49 pounds for students, but they keep increasing the price every year. Last year it was 46 pounds.

An amazing experience that needs a closure.
Tips: Students should be open to everything the university has to offer. Embrace the life that comes along with it. It's simple but effective in the long run, and you won't regret it later on. Of course, there will always be things you couldn't be a part of, but that's okay. Cherish the rest of your time there, and you'll look back and cherish it all for sure. I'm pretty satisfied with my time at University College Dublin.
Likes (Part time work): They've got a pretty good system for roles within the university and I'm a recipient of them. If going through the right channel and succeed in your interviews/assessment centres, the opportunities within the university are crazy for part-time. It is quite manageable with your coursework given the fact that you have good time management skills. The average payout is 12/hour.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): It's pretty fragile and extremely difficult to obtain sponsorship after the course commences and the Graduate visa is granted. I wouldn't likely want to permanently immigrate here as I've got other preference in life and this country doesn't fulfil them all.

Navigating growth, challenges, and opportunity in university life.
Tips: Before starting university, make sure you're comfortable with basic household tasks like cooking and cleaning. Students spend a lot of time studying, and learning these skills ahead of time can save you considerable time and help you keep up with the assignments, attend classes, and still enjoy university life. Birmingham is a fantastic city with access to nearly everything you might need, from Indian utensils and spices to food and there's almost nothing you won't find. However, if your mood is affected by the weather, be prepared for long stretches of gray, rainy days, with little sunlight for 6-7 months. The climate can be challenging, so building emotional resilience is helpful as well.
Likes (Public transportation): Buses are very frequent and you can get a bus in 5-10 minutes. The university has also its own bus service which is run for specific routes every day. The university has an integrity rail on the campus which also connects to the major and minor stations of the city.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): All the big 4 and MBB companies visited the university for the job fairs and offered internships and advice for the proper route for full-time jobs and with several on-campus activities to polish your soft and hard skills. The starting salary of a Business analyst with no or little experience at all is 338500 to 346000.

Tips: Living in the first year with flatmates of many backgrounds was interesting however there was not a huge cultural shift. There is a requirement to stay social which can be achieved by joining clubs and societies- sports are highly appreciated. The University Campus is a mixture of historical and modern, almost a reflection of the country. There is a large level of diversity with people from all walks of life. Especially in the course lectures where almost everyone comes from somewhere different.
Likes (Internships): The internship process has been made very simple here at the University. There have been resources provided such as for writing the CV or preparing for an interview. The status of the University is also strong enough that it creates a small advantage over some of the other applicants.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I am still studying at the University and therefore do not have a strong idea as to how helpful they are in assisting for long-term jobs. However, they do provide resources that can aid in CV writing and interview practice which will help when applying for such jobs.

Tips: Students should know about university life and how to manage their finances. It was a good experience with great faculty.
Tips: There was definitely a cultural shift. The people, food, and traditions are definitely different here and it will take some time to get used to all the changes but it is manageable. It can be overwhelming at times. For data science, since it's a demanding course they do not provide any kind of scholarship so that's a sad thing.
Likes (Indian Food): There are a crazy amount of restaurants and cuisines for all kinds of people and cultures. The prices are alright but some of the restaurants do offer students discounts so that is a good thing. The food is good and you basically have millions of options to choose from.
Dislikes (Value for money): I really liked the campus and the facilities were good. I would recommend trying to get a job at the university as it is definitely beneficial. The university shares a lot of resources so there is no need to invest in any kind of personal resources. There are lots of career fairs and opportunities but it's difficult for international students to get a decent full-time job.

My Great College Experience.
Tips: I got the opportunity to connect with a lot of students and made some great friends. I also had the opportunity to do an internship and gain some valuable experience in the UK market. The university has a lot of cultural societies that put on a variety of events, so there's always something to do. The university also offers scholarships for international students, which is a big help. I stood for the selection in my university and won that with a good number of votes and currently, I am working with the University as an Activities and Employability Officer. I'm very happy with my university experience and would highly recommend it to anyone considering studying abroad.
Likes (Internships): The University of Birmingham provides a lot of guidance and opportunities for students. The university has partnered with many startup companies to offer internships. These internships are called B-Experienced Internships, and they offer a variety of roles to appeal to a wide range of students. The internships last for 20 days, which students can complete in two to three months while they are studying. Students who complete these internships can earn up to 1600 Pounds.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The University of Birmingham has lots of career fairs for specific fields and also some of them provide visa-sponsored jobs. The university also provides some visa sponsor jobs to international students. There are various job roles like Business Development Manager, Communication and Marketing roles and supply chain management roles and students expect their starting package from 24000 to 35000 Pounds.

A top 10 campus uni in a small city in south west England
Tips: Exeter is a small city, many students who come here assume that it's gonna be as big as London which isn't the case. It is very small and you can literally walk everywhere. The population is mostly dominated by students so it is very safe that way. The faculty is excellent, and you can always reach out to them for any doubts via email or book office hours with any professor. The unique part of studying in Exeter is that the seminars are very hands-on and interactive with other peers as well as the professors.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Exeter is a small city that is easily walkable and is safe for international students. There are a few places that serve good Indian food, including Gandhi and Namaste Exeter. If you prefer to cook at home, you can find Indian groceries at Mess and Heera.

Tips: If you're planning to study in the UK and hope to secure a job afterwards, having at least a year of experience in any industry is recommended, as many UK companies expect candidates to have a minimum of one year of experience. I arrived in the UK at the end of September and struggled to settle down with part-time jobs, so I would advise arriving a month earlier. The Christmas period is typically the peak time for part-time job vacancies, especially in retail. A few things you need to know is Sainsbury's has cheap products, look for free stuff at student accommodation and university. Don't forget to apply for scholarships. I received the Global Excellence Award, which granted me 35,000 Dollars. The application process is simple just fill out a form on your university website. Once you're at university, take full advantage of all available resources. These might include employability workshops to enhance job skills and English classes that offer trips on writing assessment, which is particularly useful for those who haven't done project-based work during their undergraduate studies. Stay connected with your lecturers and tutors if you're stuck, reach out to them for help rather than relying on coursemates. If you are picky, you can go to one of the Indian stores. Restaurant Indian food is very expensive. For example, an onion dosa at Namaste costs 11.50 pounds. So be prepared and eat all your favorite foods before you come to the UK.
Dislikes (Internships): Internships are mostly available for Undergraduates, with only 1% for Masters students in Devon. If you are willing to travel, the availability increases to 4%. However, unpaid internships or jobs at the university are beneficial for job hunting.

Tips: Students should be on time. Reasons won’t work here for being even 2 minutes late. People respect each other's time here, unlike back in India. Researching scholarships like Common Wealth and other university-funded scholarships will help you reduce your fees. Overall, be ready to self-learn and use university resources as much as possible.
Likes (Part time work): There are plenty of part-time jobs available on and off campus. If you can get an internship or contract work in your field, it will give you good experience and prepare you for your permanent role. You can work part-time at a warehouse, supermarket, or restaurant to cover your living expenses but don't expect to cover your tuition with your part-time earnings.
Dislikes (Public transportation): I rated low on public transportation because of randomly scheduled public bus cancellations without prior notice, thinking it would be ideal to have a private vehicle. The cost is reasonable with day passes sorting you out for part-time jobs. Weekly passes would work out if you travel as often during breaks while working full-time 40 hours.

Tips: Before joining the University of Exeter, it's important to be aware that the campus is located in a relatively small city, so the pace of life is quieter compared to larger metropolitan areas. The university is known for its picturesque setting, surrounded by hills and greenery, which provides a peaceful environment for studying. Transitioning to life at the UoE was a smooth process for me. The university offers excellent support services, which makes the adjustments easier. However, I did experience some cultural shifts. Coming from a bustling city, it took some time to get used to the quieter, more laid-back atmosphere of Exeter. I also did avail of a scholarship for around 35000. The application process is straightforward and easy. There are always many options for scholarships. I am very satisfied with the course and experience I had at the university. And as I am living in a very busy city now, I can say the years I spent in Exeter were the time to remember.
Likes (Public transportation): The university campus is a 15-minute walk from the main city center. I prefer walking because of the beautiful roads, as the campus is surrounded by hills. If we talk about transportation, there is a bus every few minutes from almost every part of the city to the university campus.
Dislikes (Indian Food): Exeter doesn't have as many Indian restaurants as you might find in other cities, but one standout is Namastey Exeter, a South Indian spot that quickly became my favourite. Their dosa are particularly good and reasonably priced. During my time in Exeter, I balanced dining out with cooking at home. For vegetarians, the dining options are most limited.

Tips: Before joining this college, students should do some background checks and choose the right course. I received an academic scholarship of 35000. I also received a CFA scholarship from the University which helped me to add further value to my academic qualifications. I'm quite satisfied with my course and the University. The professors are very helpful and they want the best for you.
Likes (Safety): The University of Exeter has its own university bus which runs up late at night from the university to the City centre, so travelling back from the university at night was not a safety concern. Other than that, the University of Exeter also has its own night line which helps students in case of any emergencies.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Considering the market and political conditions, not many companies are keen on sponsoring international students. But based on the graduate visa one should be able to get you some relevant work experience. I'm not really sure if I want to permanently shift to the UK considering my interest in the field, and I want to work in various other countries that seem more promising than the UK.

It is a fun student life with lots of events.
Tips: Students should be aware of the culture, lifestyle and understanding the accent. My whole lifestyle has changed now. You don't have to worry about it much because you'll get used to it after coming here. The university also offers some scholarships so make sure you give your best essay and add in all those social efforts you have put in.
Likes (Student Life): Exeter is one good city for having a fun student life. There is no discrimination because when it comes to post graduation it's only international students in most of the classes so it would be pretty good. There would be a lot of events which will go in all around the year and I would suggest not to miss out on them.
Dislikes (Internships): There are guidance available but it depends on how a candidate use the available resources. There is no placement opportunity but they give good amount of guidance from the Career zone. I did not make enough use of it so it took me 8 months to land a job in the UK. But I suggest you to start working early onwards.

Tips: All students who intend to join this university in UK should do a thorough research about the specific program they are interested in. This is important as one university might have a higher rank in the university rankings for a particular course (let's say an MBA) while it might be ranked lower for an engineering program. This university is part of the Russell's group of Universities and has a good overall ranking among other universities in the UK. It's located in the South-West part of England and is not a fast-paced city like London or Manchester. This is also something one could take into consideration while applying. There are big cultural shifts you would observe here but that's alright as people are friendly here. There are scholarships available which you can avail which require mostly an SOP and some other documents.

Tips: I suggest students make friends with locals at university and part-time, for a better understanding of British culture. Students should know about early scholarship opportunities available on the university website. Overall it is a good university though it does not add incredible value to your profile.
Likes (Student Life): There are good well-being services provided by the University which takes into student struggle. They even provided financial assistance for students to cope with inflation pressure. University has cops security and emergency services at all times for students.
Dislikes (Internships): During the course duration, I haven't come across one internship in finance or accounting that the University has provided. Students have to explore outside markets for internship opportunities and chances of being selected are low. Even part-time roles are limited.

Tips: The course is pretty fast paced and extensive, therefore has to be on point from day 1 itself. Exeter is a pretty renowned university and is best in sporting activities. Most of the hard work should be done on your own and expect very little from lecturers. So far the experience is good.
Likes (Safety): Exeter is a very safe city to live in. There is a city watch patrolling the street and I have friends who work late nights and is a very well-connected small and beautiful city. Compared to all other cities in the UK, Exeter is very well known for its low crime rate activities.
Dislikes (Internships): Getting internships is quite hard for students in the UK and I personally don't know any person who has received an internship opportunity. There are part-time opportunities but fewer internships. Internships are generally more hard to find in the UK compared to countries like US but with less capital.

Tips: In terms of transition, I must say that I have become more independent and have a broader sense of understanding in every aspect. I got a scholarship which was automatically applied to my tuition fees. I am highly satisfied with my university experience in terms of course, placement and one-of-a-kind experience.
Likes (Safety): In my experience, I found Exeter City safe be it the university facilities or public transport and walking on the street late night. Of course this doesn't mean that you can freely roam around at night because every place has pros and cons, so it's better to be responsible. But overall I found it safe as compared to other UK cities.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Due to the recession, the possibility of finding jobs in UK has become quite difficult for freshers. It might be a bit easy for candidates with previous experience in the relevant field. But overall for people passing out in 2022-23 it has become more challenging. It's not impossible but it's a task to get a job, especially with visa sponsorship.

Tips: Sufficient knowledge of respective courses before joining because assignments are very tough here and along with the lectures, it is mostly self-studies. There is not much time for assignments, which need to complete in a short period of time. Therefore, sufficient knowledge should be there before coming here.
Likes (Value for money): Excellent student life here. Good educational environment, a beautiful city, and nice and correlative local residents. Assignments are very tough but you can gain knowledge as well, and you will get exposure to programming, and good exposure to research.
Dislikes (Internships): It's tough to get internships here because the interview structure is different than in India. Along with technical skills, they also test many situational-based games to check your presence of mind and adaptivity. Most interviews are online. The first round of technical tests is always a coding test.

Tips: Know your modules and prepare accordingly. The assignments are essay based which can be new to some of us, so look onto them. Also, do not slack off after getting here, search for jobs as soon as possible as they get filled. I have loved the university experience here.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty here understands that we are from a different academic models and help us through our assignments and they are very helpful. You can mail them anytime and fix an appointment to talk and get your doubts cleared, and discuss your ideas as well. I have found this very helpful and supportive.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I have no idea about immigration or settlement here but as far as I know, the harder you try and work to get a job after your course, you will have good chances. It totally depends on you and your hard work. So start applying for graduate programmes and internships from the beginning.

Best decision to choose Exeter!
Tips: The city is small and not big like London or Manchester, so if you like big cities then you might find it boring but other than that, I think everything is nice. The weather here is very moody, and it rains mostly as it is in the south near the coast, so for people who don’t like rain it can be hard to adjust.
Likes (Student Life): The student life is amazing here, the city is very safe and has good places to buy foods or eat out. The city is very green and peaceful. There are number of societies to join in the university and the campus is huge and has everything necessary for the students.
Dislikes (Part time work): The faculty is amazing, their classes are very interactive and interesting. The academic material provided is also adept and engaging to read. The courses are regularly updated and it’s mapped to equip students to cultivate transferable skills that the employer would want students to have after the graduation.
