The university has an amazing campus and well-trained faculties.

Tips: When you're looking for scholarships, it's important to look at the job market in the field you're interested in. If you can get a university-sponsored internship, that would be a great opportunity to gain experience and get paid. Birmingham is a city with multiple universities and a big crowd of students, so it can be difficult to find part-time work, on or off campus. However, if you do land a part-time job, the pay is the minimum wage, which is not bad. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my experiences here.

The faculty is very friendly and the classes are very interactive and engaging.

Tips: I have grown as a person, become more independent, and more mature since entering university. There were some cultural shocks and differences, but mostly how kind and accepting most people were. That feels like the norm now. I did not receive any scholarships, but I am very satisfied with my university experience.

Likes (Safety): I have a very active social life at the University of Birmingham. I spend my time studying, attending class, and working out at the gym. If I have any energy left, I like to go out with friends. There are many social events on campus that I can attend. The student body is very diverse, and everyone is kind and accepting of everyone else. The staff is very helpful and always there to support and talk to new students.

Dislikes (Student Life): The staff at the University of Birmingham are very kind and helpful. The university is incredibly inclusive and diverse, and the staff is very attentive to everyone's problems. The faculty does its best to offer fruitful solutions and help students and staff in the best way they can. The staff is very diverse and well spread out.

University of Birmingham is a great all-rounded university.

Tips: Coming to study at the University of Birmingham is a good place to get accustomed to changes in your lifestyle. The university is very welcoming, and there are quite a few scholarships that you can apply for on a merit basis. I have not applied for Permanent Settlement in the country, but I would consider staying here if I could. The University makes you aware of many opportunities that could help you transition into settling down here. Overall, I am very satisfied with the University.

Likes (Part time work): The University of Birmingham provides several opportunities for part-time and casual work. You can manage both academics and part-time work, but off-campus opportunities may require more time and effort. You get paid on an hourly basis, at an average rate of 11 per hour.

Thriving at the Univeristy of Birmingham: Independence, diversity, and opportunity.

Tips: As for the University of Birmingham, it is a great university that prepares you well for the world where you are no longer a kid who only has to worry about grades. Coming here has taught me to be independent financially and mentally. The campus is very diverse which lets me immerse in different cultural experiences. The student union is always there to support you from safety to mental well-being. The University also celebrates every cultural festival from Diwali to Ramadan, which never gives you the feeling of a home away from home. I did secure an academic scholarship for my course which is funded by the university themselves. Although the cost of living is quite high at the moment. But other than that, this is an amazing opportunity for me where I get to do a course I love at an exceptional Russel group university at the heart of Birmingham that offers all the support and advice.

Likes (Internships): The University has a huge careers network, with each college having its own. They provide excellent one-to-one advice on getting work experience, internships, volunteering, full-time jobs, etc. They also provide several other services like mock interviews that prepare you for the real challenge in the application process. For students with zero or very limited experience, the University offers a programme called B-Experienced, through which internships provided by companies offer special spots for students from the University of Birmingham. Hence when it comes to work experience and career in general, the University of Birmingham is a great choice.

Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The current UK government has tightened immigration policies, which might make permanent immigration options a bit harder. Also, if you secure a good job in a company that is ready to sponsor you, then that's great. However, most postgraduate students struggle with this aspect.

University of Birmingham does not provide any internship for international students.

Tips: It is always better to connect with multiple people and faculty members to know what's going on near you and what opportunities exist for the future. I also think joining societies is a great option to keep the stream off while enjoying your university experience. Public transportation in Birmingham is good. It connects the whole city and buses are frequent. However, buses may be delayed due to various reasons, which can be a problem for students commuting to lectures or work during peak hours. I suggest checking the routes and buses beforehand so that you know the average commute time.

Dislikes (Post study jobs): I was an international student at the University of Birmingham. I found that there were no jobs at all for international students. I faced extreme competition in finding jobs, and the university didn't provide any guidance or help with these issues. This made the situation worse than it might have been otherwise.

University of Birmingham has a beautiful and huge campus.

Tips: The campus is beautiful and there are a lot of activities to do, so you won't feel bored during your initial couple of weeks. After that you get busy with assignments and academics, so you'll spend most of the time going back and forth from the lectures to your accommodation, and part-time work. Like in India, there's not much pressure on studies, which can either be a good or a bad thing. I'm happy with the fact that the university is well-recognised and gives students career guidance. The current job market is tough in the UK to get a job, so only time will tell whether it's worth it or not.

Likes (Safety): Safety can be a matter of different experiences for different people. I never had safety concerns even when walking down the street late at night. Of course, you need to be a bit cautious of your surroundings. The campus does provide an app, and some safety gadgets during the welcome week, as well as a free bus to Sell Oak to travel when it gets dark during winter.

Dislikes (Public transportation): You can travel by train or bus. Buses are usually more connected than trains but are generally late, and it doesn't matter if you check the scheduled time on Google Maps or bus stop, they will make you wait for 15-20 minutes 90% of the time. I also don't think public transport is very affordable. It's 2 pounds for a ticket whether you want to get off at the Next bus stop or after the 15 bus stop. A monthly bus pass is now 49 pounds for students, but they keep increasing the price every year. Last year it was 46 pounds.

Tips: It was not much of a transition apart from the weather and the teaching style. I did not avail of any scholarship. However I have question myself several times as to why I chose this course. The lecturers could have a better way to teach than the way they did. There are on-campus events held for students to interact and build connections. An amazing experience that needs a closure.

Tips: Students should be open to everything the university has to offer. Embrace the life that comes along with it. It's simple but effective in the long run, and you won't regret it later on. Of course, there will always be things you couldn't be a part of, but that's okay. Cherish the rest of your time there, and you'll look back and cherish it all for sure. I'm pretty satisfied with my time at University College Dublin.

Likes (Part time work): They've got a pretty good system for roles within the university and I'm a recipient of them. If going through the right channel and succeed in your interviews/assessment centres, the opportunities within the university are crazy for part-time. It is quite manageable with your coursework given the fact that you have good time management skills. The average payout is 12/hour.

Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): It's pretty fragile and extremely difficult to obtain sponsorship after the course commences and the Graduate visa is granted. I wouldn't likely want to permanently immigrate here as I've got other preference in life and this country doesn't fulfil them all.

Navigating growth, challenges, and opportunity in university life.

Tips: Before starting university, make sure you're comfortable with basic household tasks like cooking and cleaning. Students spend a lot of time studying, and learning these skills ahead of time can save you considerable time and help you keep up with the assignments, attend classes, and still enjoy university life. Birmingham is a fantastic city with access to nearly everything you might need, from Indian utensils and spices to food and there's almost nothing you won't find. However, if your mood is affected by the weather, be prepared for long stretches of gray, rainy days, with little sunlight for 6-7 months. The climate can be challenging, so building emotional resilience is helpful as well.

Likes (Public transportation): Buses are very frequent and you can get a bus in 5-10 minutes. The university has also its own bus service which is run for specific routes every day. The university has an integrity rail on the campus which also connects to the major and minor stations of the city.

Dislikes (Post study jobs): All the big 4 and MBB companies visited the university for the job fairs and offered internships and advice for the proper route for full-time jobs and with several on-campus activities to polish your soft and hard skills. The starting salary of a Business analyst with no or little experience at all is 338500 to 346000.

Tips: Living in the first year with flatmates of many backgrounds was interesting however there was not a huge cultural shift. There is a requirement to stay social which can be achieved by joining clubs and societies- sports are highly appreciated. The University Campus is a mixture of historical and modern, almost a reflection of the country. There is a large level of diversity with people from all walks of life. Especially in the course lectures where almost everyone comes from somewhere different.

Likes (Internships): The internship process has been made very simple here at the University. There have been resources provided such as for writing the CV or preparing for an interview. The status of the University is also strong enough that it creates a small advantage over some of the other applicants.

Dislikes (Post study jobs): I am still studying at the University and therefore do not have a strong idea as to how helpful they are in assisting for long-term jobs. However, they do provide resources that can aid in CV writing and interview practice which will help when applying for such jobs.

It was a good experience with great faculty.

Tips: There was definitely a cultural shift. The people, food, and traditions are definitely different here and it will take some time to get used to all the changes but it is manageable. It can be overwhelming at times. For data science, since it's a demanding course they do not provide any kind of scholarship so that's a sad thing.

Likes (Indian Food): There are a crazy amount of restaurants and cuisines for all kinds of people and cultures. The prices are alright but some of the restaurants do offer students discounts so that is a good thing. The food is good and you basically have millions of options to choose from.

Dislikes (Value for money): I really liked the campus and the facilities were good. I would recommend trying to get a job at the university as it is definitely beneficial. The university shares a lot of resources so there is no need to invest in any kind of personal resources. There are lots of career fairs and opportunities but it's difficult for international students to get a decent full-time job.

Tips: I got the opportunity to connect with a lot of students and made some great friends. I also had the opportunity to do an internship and gain some valuable experience in the UK market. The university has a lot of cultural societies that put on a variety of events, so there's always something to do. The university also offers scholarships for international students, which is a big help. I stood for the selection in my university and won that with a good number of votes and currently, I am working with the University as an Activities and Employability Officer. I'm very happy with my university experience and would highly recommend it to anyone considering studying abroad.

Likes (Internships): The University of Birmingham provides a lot of guidance and opportunities for students. The university has partnered with many startup companies to offer internships. These internships are called B-Experienced Internships, and they offer a variety of roles to appeal to a wide range of students. The internships last for 20 days, which students can complete in two to three months while they are studying. Students who complete these internships can earn up to 1600 Pounds.

Dislikes (Post study jobs): The University of Birmingham has lots of career fairs for specific fields and also some of them provide visa-sponsored jobs. The university also provides some visa sponsor jobs to international students. There are various job roles like Business Development Manager, Communication and Marketing roles and supply chain management roles and students expect their starting package from 24000 to 35000 Pounds.

You can find everything from Indian and Middle Eastern to Italian and Asian fusion restaurants. I do enjoy eating out occasionally, especially for social gatherings, but overall, I prefer cooking for myself. An experience of self-improvement through determination.

Tips: Students, before joining this university, should know what they are signing up for, once you start this journey there is no going back. It's a costly university with the Russel Group brand name, you will have one of the best campus life and will meet some great people. There were no major cultural shifts as such except for the English accent. You feel excited and safe when you arrive here. You will require some time to settle and understand the UK culture, transportation, best shopping grocery stores such as Lidl and Aldi. I did not get any scholarship as I was in business school, for the rest there were GBP 2,000 Global Masters Scholarships for every student. You should start applying to get them as soon as possible before your applications. I am quite satisfied with the life I spent on campus, the journey that made me what I am today. The course and modules were easygoing and not that stressful. If you are willing to put in the bare minimum effort, you will pass your degree easily.

Likes (Student Life): I used to attend 3 to 4 days of lectures a week, study in the library and attend ongoing events around campus to meet people and socialize. I used to enjoy walking around the campus, having fun with friends and going on trips organised by the school. Events such as the union of students selection, fests, international mixers, club and society events, freebies by awareness campaigns, etc. Used to keep happening, conducted by societies like- international students, Hindu, and Indian societies, or by the guild of students.

Dislikes (Post study jobs): The companies that provide sponsored jobs are the ones that have a budget as well as which are looking for candidates for a longer time like 5 years by providing them 2 years of training. The average Salary package of a graduate is around GBP 26,000 to 35,000. But it depends on work experience and skill set.

Tips: It took me some time to understand the difference, adapt and adjust to the British weather, people, money management, and social life balance along with work or studies. But if you are determined, active, and adaptable, it will be a lot easier for you to go through the transition. Cultural shifts were people are really polite, humble, helpful and tend to keep privacy for themselves as well as for others. Roads are safe for pedestrians, people are generally nice to others and strangers, and they focus on mental health and physical health. They are compassionate about other people's choices and concerns and don't judge others based on anything. I am quite satisfied with my university as I expected. The course can be modified and updated to make it much better and to provide better learning for students to retain all modules taught in a short 1 year time. Marking has been tough and many tend to barely pass in a few of the assignments or modules, so it's important to create a balance. The UK is a demanding country, it demands physical strength, mental strength and a financial solid background to sustain besides providing a healthy and safe life and a wealthy lifestyle as well, for those who put in hard work.

Likes (Student Life): There are classes/lectures on 3-4 days of the week. I get ready for the lecture, prepare my food or lunch, and leave early to reach classes on time. I enjoy studying, visiting the library, walking around campus, meeting friends, talking to people, and attending ongoing events. Events such as Hall reps, guild of students, student union events, events by university for information and awareness, cultural events fests, and events conducted by societies such as Horror movie society, Hindu society, International society, Business society, etc. are there to participate in.

Dislikes (Post study jobs): Career fairs for different departments continue on campus. Around 20-40 companies exhibit and students can talk directly to them and learn how to apply for the jobs they are hiring for. Sponsorships are limited and difficult to obtain. A detailed list of companies in the UK that provide sponsorship is on the UK government website. Around 5-10% of companies offer sponsorship, such as for graduate schemes for graduate roles at annual salary packages starting from an average of GBP 30,000 to 35,000 annually, and even more for direct entry jobs and if you have more experience (DOE). HSBC, Barclays, S&P Global, Fidelity International, Black Rock, and Brain and Co. are some companies that sponsor international talent.

UoB is a great university for masters.

Tips: A lot of cultural shocks await you when you come to the UK. Just experience your life to the fullest and don't be afraid to try new things. Before you come, prepare your backpacks and remember to bring a travel adapter for the UK, a power bank, and anything else you might need. I didn't get a scholarship, but you can avail yourself of one if you keep a sharp eye out for ongoing scholarships.

Likes (Student Life): I've been at this university for a year, and I still haven't seen all of the campus because it's so huge. There is a lot to do and a lot to learn. Life here is great, but you may have some challenges finding a part-time job.

Dislikes (Value for money): I believe the fees at the University of Birmingham are too high for an average Indian household. I paid 26000 GBP as a tuition fee, which is high compared to other universities in Birmingham. While the university is part of the Russell Group, its fees are still too high.

Tips: Before joining students should be sure about what course they are going to join and also make sure to do plenty of research about the facilities offered. The university has everything that you need but it is up to the students to decide on what they need and they do not. It is a very good experience and the contacts that you make are really helpful. Overall, I am very satisfied with my experiences.

Likes (Safety): Leeds is a very student-friendly city, with international students from all around the world. Leeds is rated as one of the safest cities in the UK and it feels so too. It is very safe and the amenities are available and easily accessible. The transportation is really good and the city even at night has some kind of life and some people are ready to help you if you are in a tough spot.

Dislikes (Indian Food): There are a plethora of Indian restaurants in Leeds but there are limited options if you are a vegetarian. The university eatery has a lot of options for non-vegetarian food though and the food is amazing in Leeds. I do cook but also prefer to eat outside at times. The food is slightly on the expensive side if you want to eat out and fancy Indian food, there are multiple Indian and Pakistani stores around from where you can almost get anything you want.

Tips: Students should know how to cook because the takeaway or delivery options are costly. The ready-made food available in stores is also limited option-wise. There are fewer options for vegetarian people. The University, faculty and teaching were up to the mark as I expected. The faculty members were approachable and were always there to help. Overall, I am quite satisfied with my experiences.

Likes (Part time work): Part-time jobs are easy to find. We Indians don't hesitate to put in the work and this is known by the UK employers which is one of the main reasons why Indians can get part-time jobs without difficulty. We just have to look diligently. Plus the pay is also good for the part-time jobs.

Dislikes (Post study jobs): Due to changes made in the visa rules for international candidates, it is next to impossible for international students to secure full-time jobs post-graduation. Most of the companies that offer sponsorship hesitate to pay the salary according to the new visa rules.

Tips: Students should know that we pay a lot to attend these colleges, and we shouldn't waste our time partying. Instead, we should study hard to improve ourselves. I think it's better to get a job here because you get good pay in the United Kingdom. If you come here, you should come for a postgraduate degree, which is better. The internships are not relevant to what we are studying at the college. They are usually salespersons or self-racing or something of that kind at the minimum wage level, which is 11 an hour. It is good if we do a job here.

Tips: When you are studying abroad, be prepared to do everything for yourself, including cooking, cleaning, and grocery shopping. Unlike in India, where domestic help is available, you will not have anyone to help you with these tasks. However, the experience will be amazing, and I recommend that everyone try it. Also, be open-minded about the part-time job you get, and do your research to find a course that interests you.

Likes (Public transportation): London has a great public transportation system and is well connected to the university, and there are two ways to get around the city: bus and train. Buses cost 2 Pounds, but you can get a 20% discount if you show your student ID. You can also get a Railcard, which gives you a 33% discount on each train ride. The Railcard is a great deal, but it only applies to train rides, not bus rides.

Dislikes (Part time work): There are many part-time roles available, but the competition is fierce. You need to be persistent in your job search. With a little luck, you can land a job that pays between 6 and 15 Euros per hour. However, you need to be aware that the hourly rate may vary depending on the industry and location of the job.

The monthly groceries are costly so one should be careful about that too. I made good use of the university libraries and my focus was more on making the right connections with the UK employers. The study part is definitely important however employers put more importance on skills rather than knowledge so gaining skills through participating in various activities can give additional advantage to a resume.

Likes (Safety): I felt safe walking around campus and surrounding areas, even at night. The UK police are very active and keep an eye on things, which helps ensure safety. In addition, there are security cameras in the common areas, and they provide a sense of security. The campus is well-lit, and there are always people around, which also makes me feel safe.

Additionally, throughout your course, you may be eligible for further scholarships if you maintain an average score of over 60% each year.

Likes (Quality of faculty): The University of Leeds is part of the Russell Group. The management ensures that they hire highly experienced, well-researched, and talented faculty members across all disciplines. It's rare to hear any complaints about the competency of the faculty in various departments. Personally, I can vouch for the law faculty—they are incredibly helpful, go the extra mile for their students, and consistently encourage us to improve.

Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The University of Leeds is a great university with a lot to offer. However, I do have some concerns about permanent immigration to the UK. It is not too difficult, provided you can support yourself. However, UK immigration laws can be stringent, and many might find themselves working multiple jobs initially if they don't secure employment in desirable sectors like the commercial industry. It's challenging to sustain oneself, especially given the ongoing economic uncertainties and the impact of recession. That said, while I don't intend to be overly pessimistic, it's important to know that the experience comes with countless challenges, some of which can be mentally exhausting. However, many do find enjoyment here, and I might be wrong in some cases, as everyone's experience is different.

Tips: The University of Leeds offers varied opportunities to everyone and there is always something for everyone, you won't feel alienated or alone, there is a road for everyone that mostly leads to success and development of an individual. Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty at my university are very helpful and are always there whenever you have a doubt or are not able to understand anything, they are always ready to explain any concept over and over again and always open to discussions, not just about studies but also about personal well-being and job prospects.

Dislikes (Value for money): I believe that the tuition fees we are paying is not justified because the resources we get in return for the amount we pay for tuition fees is not very proportionate. Other Universities offer much more than this and the students actually benefit from the resources provided but if we talk about University of Leeds compared to others, it is still one of the best universities out there.

UK is the best choice to pursue my course.

Tips: There is an 'International Masters Excellence Scholarship' for selected students. For Masters in Automotive Engineering, UK and Germany are popular choices. I chose UK over Germany as I didn't want to put in extra effort for learning a new language. Also, it's easier to socialize with people in UK as there are no language barriers. Plus, UK offers Post Study Work (PSW) visa (not sure if it'll continue to do so) which will give you 2 additional years after completing the job to get the UK sponsored job.

Likes (Student Life): 1. Libraries are amazing - they have best infrastructure and perfect atmosphere to study. Plus, there are 3 different libraries with totally different vibe and we can choose where to study. 2. There's a night bus service - if you are late in the university then they drop you to your house free of charge. 3. There are many events and social activities and clubs - all are very welcoming!

Dislikes (Post study jobs): In our class of almost 100 students, less than 10 students have secured the full time job in our field before graduation from university. This is not just with the University of Leeds, the situation is similar all over the UK. Graduate roles offer around 330000 salary in Mechanical Engineering related domains.

Tips: Should possess prior work experience before starting this course for better job prospects. I didn't know how to cook and clean before coming here so found it hard initially. There are only 2 scholarships fully funded for this programme. The university is amazing.

Likes (Safety): Very safe to walk around the city at all times of the day. Have not had any particular bad experiences regarding safety but have heard of a few bad areas in Leeds to avoid after dark such as Hyde Park as students have gotten robbed at knifepoint there. Crime like robbery and stabbing is virtually non-existent here but bicycle thieves are very common.

Dislikes (Part time work): Part-time is very difficult to avail in Leeds, almost impossible. Same situation across the UK students since September 2023 have not gotten part-time jobs. Part-time is very manageable with studies as it's only 20 hours per week and plenty of time is given for assignments and exam prep by university.

Tips: The culture is very different here. But there are many Indians so it doesn't feel much different. I didn't get any scholarship but I'm satisfied. I think the fees are too much for international students. The university ranking, faculty, and course modules are some of the important factors to consider before joining the university.

Likes (Student Life): The place is very student-friendly. It's mostly classes. I love the welcome fair they organise. I don't participate much but there are events like sexual violence campaigns, awareness events, social clubs, and different societies have events. I'm a LUBS society member which organises different social events for students.

Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): It's very difficult to permanently settle here. I think the recession and preference for British people might be the reason. I wouldn't settle here because the weather isn't very nice and I miss my country. Everything is so easy and cheap in India.
