Tips: When you come to the University of Manchester, you can expect a cultural shift and a need to adapt to independent living. Engaging with your fellow students and the university as a whole will help you adjust to academic rigour and cultural diversity. The faculty at this college is highly knowledgeable, supportive, and experienced. The professors are approachable and provide prompt email responses. The focus on practical applications is effective and engaging. The faculty comes from diverse backgrounds, which brings a global perspective to the classroom. I am highly satisfied with my course, university, and the UK's cultural richness. It's great for the overall growth of an individual.
Dislikes (Indian Food): The Indian food options in Manchester are decent but not always authentic. There are two types of restaurants in the locality: budget-friendly ones like Bundobust and Chaiwala, where a meal costs 7-10 pounds per person; and mid-range ones like Dishoom and Mowgli, where a meal costs 15-25 pounds per person. I usually cook my own meals.

Tips: The University of Manchester is a diverse and culturally rich university with a lot of internal opportunities. The course content is good and designed for students with at least a year or two of experience in the field of study. The university is recognized globally and has a good reputation. Student diversity is above 90%. Different types of scholarships are available so students can apply for international scholarships.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The quality of teaching and the professors at this university are fabulous. The professors are very experienced in their subject of teaching. They are from different countries and have studied at top-tier universities. They also have ground-level experience in their fields. In addition, the faculty is very helpful and provides support for assignments.
Dislikes (Internships): The university does not provide internships. You have to find one on your own time outside of study hours. Also, it is difficult to manage a part-time job, your classes, assignments, and coursework because the courses are intense and you have classes three to four days a week.

Good college with amazing experience.
Tips: I was awarded a scholarship that provided a tuition discount. I applied for the scholarship online, and the process was straightforward. There were some cultural adjustments, but the large Indian population made the transition easier. I am very satisfied with the University of Manchester, the course I took, and the country itself.
Likes (Public transportation): The city is well connected by bus and trams and has multiple railway stations. Cabs are also easily available. The campus is in the centre of the city, so it is well-connected. It is also a walking distance from the city centre. Public transport is very affordable and they offer passes too.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): It all depends on whether you've got a job or not, and whether the company wants to sponsor a visa or not. The chances of permanent settlement are pretty slim as of now given the global scenario and slim job market. But if given a chance, I would like to settle in the UK, barring some cities.

A break from the corporate world with preparation for the real world.
Tips: There definitely is a cultural shift here that we face, and it is much better than home so it won't be an issue settling down. We should be prepared for the hard work. The university rankings matter but not a lot, so you are mostly on your own. There is no placement department or anything like that, so we are ourselves responsible for job hunting and everything, and as in every other country, it's not that easy to get a job.
Likes (Student Life): The college community/student union has a lot of activities planned throughout the year, which really helps us lay off some streams from all the studies. Festivals, especially big ones like Diwali/Holi, are a lot of fun as all students get together and have fun. Student clubs are fun, but I wasn't able to participate a lot given the course structure and assignments.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are part-time options available, but the course is a little tiring, which leaves very few windows for working. Having said that, there is a lot of competition given the number of students and dependents, so it is also hard to get a part-time job. Also, because of this competition, employers, specifically restaurants, exploit the students by paying them cash in hand, which is much lower than the minimum wage. But yes, I have a few friends who got a good part-time job, but such examples are pretty low.

Lots of opportunities available for career growth and development.
Tips: Student should be clear about the course modules of their chosen programme. They should book the accommodation well in advance before coming to the city to avoid any last minutes inconveniences. They should check for various scholarships and apply on priority basis. They should be in touch with Indian Society of Manchester which organises social meetings for upcoming students.
Likes (Indian Food): Manchester offers a wide variety of cuisines, particularly South Asian cuisines. Its super convenient with regards to food as the city offer cuisines, snacks and local food items for their daily life style. Manchester has so many interesting cafes to visit which adds so much value to your student life experience.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): In the UK permanent immigration and settlement options are quite difficult due to government policies. The company hiring you as an employee needs to sponsor your visa which is an expensive and lengthy process for the company. However, if a student manages to get a job in the UK it is considered a better option as the lifestyle, career growth and future opportunities there are better than India.

Self-study is required and don't be distracted with part-time.
Tips: Do not get too caught up in doing part-time jobs and pushing education as a second priority. It is best to do some saving before moving to the UK as, although Manchester is a relatively cheaper city, you will end up spending a lot more than expected. The university also expects students to do a lot of self-study both pre and post lectures. Ask questions to the lecturers as they are often very willing to solve your queries. And always remember that you belong.
Likes (Student Life): Manchester is a vibrant city and extremely student centric thanks to 3 universities in the city. There is always plenty to do on and off campus. There is also a very wide variety of student clubs to join. Ensure that you are enrolled in the university mailing list to get updates on what's happening around campus during the week. You will never have a dull time in Manchester.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Permanent settlement depends on companies willing to sponsor work visas. The university has no role unless for jobs in the university itself. Companies are usually hesitant as they need to justify the business decision to sponsor. Although difficult, I have had many friends who are sponsored and you will get a work permit if you persevere.

The university experience was quite good. Stressful but good.
Tips: The syllabus is quite manageable, however the exams are really very difficult and can really test your perseverance.
The written exams cannot be passed just by rote learning or by studying at the last moment. Even the course works require a lot of brainstorming.
Likes (Public transportation): The university is situated on Oxford Street in Manchester which has the busiest bus route in the UK. It is also a very walkable city and you probably won't have to use transportation at all. I didn't have to spend anything to travel to university as I walked to and from my lectures.
Dislikes (Internships): The course was one year and the university did nothing to encourage participation in internships.
The university could have set aside a few months dedicated to doing an internship which would have helped in securing a job for most students. Additionally, fewer written papers would have ensured more practical learning.

The best decision of my life! Hard work pays off here.
Tips: I come from India, which is why moving to the UK was a huge change. I have been to the UK several times in the past but living here is a completely different ball game. I went from really going to eat out at 1 am sometimes to having to cook my own meals 3 times a day. The food is different, the people are different, the weather is different but what remains the same is the feeling of being at home because 1.5 years into my course, Manches does indeed feel like home. Anyway, so I got a global future scholarship which I had applied to while I applied to the university. The allowance was 5000 pounds for year one and year 2 and I had to meet certain criteria to continue the scholarship. In essence, coming to the University of Manchester was the best decision of my life, and psychology, although challenging is very intriguing. UK really treats you well if you can handle the weather and trust me, you get used to it.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The school of Health Sciences is the biggest school in the university, which also makes me think is the reason why the faculty is so quick to resolve issues (2-3 working days). The professors all have PhDs and are very sweet in addition to making lectures really easy to understand and further making the lecture slides very accessible. We have seminars, lab classes and career counselling opportunities that are very interactive and helpful. My professors come from all over the world. The faculty is very diverse and the university is very inclusive.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The UK is currently under recession, so I'd say it's not the best idea to live here, plus there's always some sort of strike, again not the best thing. Lastly, getting a skilled worker visa or any sort of visa itself is difficult in the UK. However, the people here are lovely, the culture is amazing and if you love studying and a lot of socialising, UK is the place for you!

Tips: 1. I did not experience a massive culture shift. The people in Manchester are warm and friendly. However, the weather is often not very good as it rains quite a lot and remains gloomy.
2. I did get the Global Future Scholarship from the University of Manchester. I would advice students to apply as soon as they receive the invitation to apply for the scholarship post their receipt of the offer letter from the University.
3. I am extremely satisfied with my course LL.M. Intellectual Property at the University of Manchester.
Likes (Student Life): Student life at the University is absolutely great. The classrooms are spacious and equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The libraries are huge, with an impressive collection of books (including rare editions), online resources, research tools, etc., making them a great study and research destination. In addition to studies, lots of activities are organized by different clubs and societies of the University. One can never get bored. Most importantly, the teaching staff of this University is extremely knowledgeable and very cooperative. They are always eager to help and ensure that a student is comfortable with the modules that are being delivered. I absolutely enjoy being a student of this esteemed University and would never trade this experience for anything else.
Dislikes (Indian Food): In Manchester, there are numerous places to have Indian Food. However, it is quite expensive (eg Chicken Biryani can be around 15 GBP) and in most of the places, more expensive. However, the restaurants named Indian Tiffin Room and My Lahore are absolutely great! These places will not disappoint you! Having said that, I prefer cooking at home as it save money and gives me a chance to get creative!

Tips: For my degree, I felt like it was an extension of my bachelor’s nothing new that I could learn massively to improve my skill set provided the money I had spent. I don’t think I was satisfied at all because the struggle throughout was really very difficult to cope with.
Likes (Public transportation): It’s well connected with cabs, trams and buses all across. There wasn’t any issue with commuting at all. It’s just very expensive to travel but as a student, you get discounts on travelling too so not a major reason. Rest assured you wouldn’t face an issue with this.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There are very less jobs available who sponsor you and more than that you need exceptional skills to actually get a job. Even if you have PSW you need to be on top of your application game. So don’t just come directly after your bachelor’s take some experience and then come if you have long-term goals of settling.

AMBS failed to live up to its brand. Horrible cohort and curriculum. Wont recommend.
Tips: Research the modules well. MIM as a course has few opportunities in UK. Do a specialized Master. MIM more suitable for people willing to get into technology roles. MIM at AMBS is a waste. Please don't do it. Far better options are available. Do a specialized Master.
Likes (Part time work): Good amount of part time options available. Flexible shift options. Easy to manage part-time with academics. It pays minimum wage so easy to manage expenses since the city isn't that expensive. Walk-in interviews are available in plenty. Large city so not hard to find a job.
Dislikes (Value for money): The tuition fee was considerably higher compared to the quality of the course. Rigid curriculum. Only outdated theory and no practical exposure. Very average faculty and modules offered. No skill-building or live project options. Won't recommend the course.

Excellent diversity with knowledge
Tips: Moving to university from a small town to a big city was not okay at first but I quickly adjusted to the city lifestyle and now I don't think I can go back! The university has a solid infrastructure for helping students with tutors/lecturers more than happy to respond to emails. There are support systems for students to help with non-academic problems which I feel makes it easier for students to settle in. Overall, I wouldn't pick any other university to go to due to the unforgettable experiences since I came to this university. The city is great, the university facilities are top quality and the nightlife is booming.

Tips: I am very satisfied with my university, it is easy to adapt since Manchester is a multi-cultural city. I have never faced any discrimination. There are abundant work opportunities available, and the people are friendly. It is more about getting outside your comfort zone and interacting with people from different backgrounds.
Likes (Part time work): Abundant opportunities are available for part-time work. There are plenty within the university as well as outside. Most places that offer full-time roles also offer part-time roles making it easier to make money when you're here as a student and on a stiff budget.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): It's a relatively difficult situation to comment on at the moment, especially given the global recession and the way the job market is right now. The competition for the few jobs that do exist is becoming more and more stiff, making it difficult. Visa sponsorship is difficult to find as well at the moment.

My 2 years of experience in Manchester with a lot of ups and downs.
Tips: After coming to the UK, you will definitely see many changes be it people, culture, climate or language everything is different than what you have experienced in India so yes it will be a major change. I didn't get any scholarship. I have tried, but no such luck. Overall, my experience with the university, course and country was good. I learned a lot and experienced a lot of new things so in total my experience was quite good.
Likes (Public transportation): I found Manchester's public transportation system to be very convenient, frequent, and economical. Unless you live far from the city, you won't have any problems getting around. As a student, you'll get huge discounts on bus and tram passes, which makes tickets even cheaper.
Dislikes (Part time work): Right now the UK job market is stagnant with not many jobs especially if you are a fresher that's the same case with on-campus part-time jobs. It is very competitive and employers prefer individuals with experience. However, if you are open to working in the the food and beverage sector, chances are comparatively better, but you still have to spend a good amount of time in part-time job hunting and be prepared for the challenges. I can't guarantee this for every course but for my course, it was quite manageable by working part-time you will be financially independent and if you can manage your time properly then both work and study will be a piece of cake. As a student in the UK, you are legally allowed to work only for 20 hours with minimum wages which is plenty to cover your personal expenses.

Think twice or even thrice before joining for your good.
Tips: Students should know that there are barely any scholarships when compared to other colleges and quite a few cultural shifts. Get ready for a lot of public speaking and assignments which is a dead scene in India. College does not care about your post-graduation work. Minimum career guidance, everything is self-made and self-done here.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The market is very bad at the moment, with hardly any opportunities. Would not recommend anyone to come here at least at the moment. Sponsorship is another problem that you'll face but one good thing is that you won't need sponsorship for the first 2 years of graduation. Salaries are comparatively low in the US where a just graduation gets on average 100K Dollars but here it is around 27-32K Euros.

Fun, challenging and great learning experience.
Tips: The job market is in a pretty bad shape as of now so decide carefully if you are willing to go through that much amount of pressure and struggle. In addition, finding a part time is quite challenging as well, and have a clear picture in your mind about whether you want to settle abroad or not before going.
Likes (Safety): The country is relatively safe and peaceful. There's public transport that works all time round. And I have been home pretty late at night and it was all safe. Regardless, there are teenagers who caused trouble for a few people I knew but again it all depends on your locality.
Dislikes (Part time work): It was not easy to find a part time job in Dublin. I didn't find one as of now and I am getting rejections for those as well despite having a good CV. I will still apply though until I find one and I will advise you of the same. Go there only if you want to settle down or spend a few years, if you're confused then maybe think about other opportunities.

Excellent College, but the city is expensive.
Tips: Foreign Education differs massively from our Indian Education System. They are very liberal and open-minded towards their curriculum and have exponentially more global exposure. I wasn’t able to obtain any scholarship to study at Trinity but many students in my cohort got scholarships. I’m extremely satisfied with the University and the course, leading to both PhD and Job Opportunities, though Dublin is one of the costliest places to live in but not in the Schengen region.
Likes (Quality of faculty): The faculty are extremely nice and open in my department. I’ve never felt out of place asking doubts or getting help from both students and professors in my class. The lectures were organised Mon-Wed to help us have a longer weekend and study better.
Dislikes (Internships): We are encouraged to apply for Internships and support is provided by the college in creating contacts with industry partners via TQA. But being a student from India has made getting Visa to work in other countries very difficult. Most of the students choose to do a PhD after this course though.

Tips: A big cultural shift is a lifestyle where we have to do everything at home, including groceries, cleaning, and cooking apart from college and assignments. There are scholarship options provided by different colleges and the government of Ireland in general, have a look at those while applying.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Great faculty at Trinity college dublin, highly qualified and approachable for any issues. Teaching methodology is great but different from how it’s done in India. Teaching here is a lot more research-oriented, need to read a lot of research papers and discuss them in class. Apart from research, there are a lot of individual and group projects on real-life research subjects.
Dislikes (Part time work): There are fairly less opportunities on campus for part time jobs, compared to the number of students/people looking for these jobs. Having said that, it is not impossible to get one, just have to be on the lookout for one when it’s available.

Tips: There is no scholarship for this course. There are no exams which is a good thing. Programming knowledge is mandatory. The faculty are current industry leaders who teach with their working experience and not with theoretical experience because of which you learn by applying what has to be thought.
Likes (Indian Food): You get everything Indian in every area of Dublin, even near the college. There is an Indian Society. The majority of the students are Indians in most of the courses. All the Indian festivals are celebrated. The Indian community here is really strong. Mini India store is near the campus.
Dislikes (Part time work): The average pay is good (12.7/hour). But finding a part time on campus or anywhere near the campus or the city centre is impossible. The process of finding a part-time job is extremely exhausting. If you do find a part-time, managing expenses and studies shouldn't be an issue.

Trinity College Dublin: The post pandemic era for Indians has opportunities given you have skills.
Tips: Keep in mind the cost of living. And personally, for the first time being outside of India there was definitely the culture shock but in a good way. Only suggestion would be to research universities based on the course that you want to take as they hold a very key role in how the course modules are set. With that being said you are going to be involved with cultures from all around the world which is a great opportunity to learn a lot about the outside world. And against popular belief in order to get a job around here is not a cakewalk, it's going to be demanding and make sure you hone the skillset and always portray yourself as the most valuable asset. Until you get into the company it's always going to be what value you are to the company and not the other way around. All serious talk side, a very good country and there's nothing a coffee can't solve. A note, the salary you might be getting right after graduation can be very much below your expectations but most companies do a regular revision of plays and you can climb up the ladder sooner than you think. But also the taxes are a bit on the higher side depending on what your salary is. I'd just recommend planning your expenses accordingly as you touch base.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): I wouldn't immigrate to this city as my main motive was to gain knowledge from what the university had to offer and explore. But comparatively, a permanent residence in Ireland is not that difficult if you are willing to put in the effort required. There are different permits which you will get to know as you get through the visa process. The first step is just getting a Stamp 1 which happens when you land a job and the company is willing to sponsor you. If your role comes under the critical skills list this is going to be the least of your worries. And from there on it's just adding more days to your residence and applying for a Stamp 4 which is equivalent to a permanent residentship and following that will be your Irish passport.
Dislikes (Safety): As it goes without saying it's going to be an entirely new city and it all boils down to being self-aware. Apart from campus security, there are going to be caretakers in case you live in a student accommodation that isn't provided by the university itself. Otherwise, you are always going to have the local cops. The city in itself is beautiful to explore and the neighbouring countries are also not that far off for a weekend trip. There are a lot of hikes around, a lot of local pubs, and a lot of activities surrounding the city. As long as you are aware of your surroundings you are going to be safe and sound. It would be a big plus if you had more people along with you.

How Trinity nurtures student life: Crafting futures beyond graduation
Tips: Since the weather here is cold and gloomy, so initially, one may take time to get accustomed to the weather and atmosphere here, because the culture and living standards here are completely different from India. Initially, one may feel that it is difficult to adjust here, but eventually, you will start getting habitual to this place, and you will like living here. Since I got into this college through the student exchange programme, so I did get an education scholarship with tuition fees of about 25%, based on my grades at the university in India. I am satisfied with the teaching pattern of this college because there is more emphasis on practical learning, so one must brush up their concepts before coming here, so as to catch up with the pace of learning here. I have also got accustomed to the weather here and the cuisine here, but I am only dissatisfied with the job market because there is a struggle after studies to find a job.
Likes (Public transportation): The public transport available here is very affordable and feasible for the students. Since the campus is in the heart of the city, so there are a number of available modes for public transportation, mainly the buses and the luas to each part of the city. For students, public transportation is extremely cheap, and if one travels several times a day, so there is a system of capping, where you are not charged after a certain amount has been spent in travelling on a day.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): For fresh graduates, the job market is challenging here and most of the companies are quite unwilling to sponsor visas as compared to the situation of experienced professionals. There are various graduate roles available in the IT sector, but again job market is competitive for graduates, although the salary offered is good.

Tips: Transitioning to Ireland seems to have been a smooth experience for many. Students are encouraged to prepare for cultural differences, including weather, and people. I am satisfied with my college, course and country. Ireland is seen as a friendly and welcoming place with a quality education system.
Likes (Safety): There is a helpline for crime victims and student accommodation have full-day staff support to ensure safety. Dublin is generally safe both men and women can go out at night without any worry. The crime rate is low. But there have been some instances of petty crimes like theft and pickpocketing, especially in the city centre. There are concerns about crimes involving Irish teenagers. Although such incidents are rare.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Permanent settlements in Ireland is possible but might require living there for over five years to obtain a Stamp 4 visa, which offers more long-term residence. Whether someone would want to move to Ireland permanently depends on their individual preference and circumstances. And also Ireland offers a positive experience in terms of education, culture, and job opportunities.

Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Permanent immigration in Dublin is a little bit difficult because we have to stay more than 5 years to get a Stamp 4 visa and till then you will only have voting rights, not permanent residency. But if anyone wants to stay here he\she can stay for that long and can get a stamp 4 visa.

Diversity is what I was looking for while choosing Trinity College Dublin. I am extremely satisfied with this.
Dislikes (Internships): TCD does have the concept of internship. But that's not an issue at all because the exposure and quality of the faculty is very good. There are no available internship concepts in Trinity College Dublin. This is something that you find only in UCD.

Tips: Before joining Trinity, the students must know this fact that the university focuses most on practical learning rather than theoretical learning, and due to this, the students must focus on gaining industry exposure to gain practical experience before coming here. It is also very essential to know that there is many cultural difference compared to India, the environment is different, the weather is different, the people are different and the cuisine is also very much different. The students must prepare themselves mentally and physically to study in a foreign land and get used to the cultural difference in the new country. Lastly, Trinity is ranked the no.1 college in Ireland, and studying here is definitely a value for money if the opportunities offered here are carefully utilised by the students.
Likes (Quality of faculty): Doing a Bachelors degree from Trinity College Dublin was a great experience, especially the experience with the faculty there. The professors and the teaching unit at Trinity are extremely supportive and address the student's problems with utmost care and concern. While facing any difficulties, the faculty gives personal attention to the particular student in need and this way the faculty is most easily approachable. In Trinity, there is more attention given to practical learning rather than theoretical learning by making the students work on the assignments and projects by themselves and research the topic deeply on their own, rather than being solely based on the lecture slides and bookish knowledge.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Being an Indian citizens and holding an Indian passport, it is a very much complicated process to study or work in any European country because most of the European countries follow a very rigid process for immigration and visa sponsorship for international applicants. Unfortunately, some of the companies only offer internships or full-time opportunities to those holding an EU/EEA citizenship, which creates much hassle for the non EU/EEA citizens. The salary offered is pretty good for fresh graduates, but the most difficult part is the immigration and visa sponsorship, which derives the international applicants of various career opportunities.

Tips: Nice University. Thorough research on the course and values given by the university. Familiarization with the visa process is important for students coming here. Likes (Internships): There are many internship opportunities available especially if you are young and have just graduated from the university. It is easy to apply, which is done from the company website. The acceptance rate is high if you are young and from a good college. The work culture here is good and people are treated with respect.
Dislikes (Safety): Safety can be poor sometimes because there are instances of people getting robbed. There are also many instances of pickpockets happening especially in the city centre. The law doesn't charge children under the age of 18, therefore, the Irish boys are a menace. There are instances of physical assault on people especially foreigners by Irish teenagers.

Tips: The people in Ireland are friendly and quite accommodating in general, plus make sure to make friends from different cultures and countries, because that's how you'll be able to adapt to Dublin easily. The culture in Ireland is a bit different than Asian countries and the people in Ireland have a very liberal mindset, plus you will have to know some of the local slang they use there, so it is very important to make Irish friends. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with the university, the course and the country.
Likes (Student Life): Trinity college has a great student life and there are tons of events, catered to the different likes and tastes of the students, hosted every week. I enjoyed making new friends from all over the world at Trinity, and social events conducted at the Pavilion bar helped me with that. As for student clubs, the clubs and activities can range from sports and music to entrepreneurship clubs like the 'Enactus' club. I personally benefited from the Enactus club as I got to make new professional connections.
Dislikes (Safety): Dublin in general is a safe city as compared to other European cities and what's intriguing is the fact that Ireland is one of only two EU countries with a helpline for victims of crime. The student accommodation in Ireland are extremely safe and the staff members are always available 24/7 in case we need any help or if there is any emergency.

Likes (Post study jobs): There are good jobs in Ireland. They require you to speak in English. If you have experience you are likely to get a better job and your job search will be easier. The salary is high, one of the best in Europe but the graduate programme has a low salary.
Dislikes (Public transportation): Public transport in Ireland has a bad connectivity. The connectivity has to be improved. It has irregular timing of bus. It is expensive. Tram is very congested. Could have made a better route for the tram. Although for students it is a little cheaper.

Dislikes (Public transportation): TCD is located in the centre of the city, which means it is very well approachable from all parts of Dublin. Dublin is very walkable because it is small and places are relatively close to each other. You can walk from your home to TCD, you can take the intra-city tram (luas) or you can take the bus too.
