Tips: Students should research and understand the available academic, and faculty expertise. Also, the overall reputation of the college in their chosen field of study. Permanent settlement options are good so take that into consideration. Your course and college should align with your educational and career goals. Familiar yourself with campus facilities.
Likes (Permanent Immigration): I rated 5 out of 5 on permanent immigration/settlement options. Because the country and specifically the university campus in Wollongong offers attractive pathways and incentives for International students to pursue permanent settlement. One significant advantage would be one year of extra post-study work visa.
Dislikes (Internships): In terms of internship, I rated 4 out of 5 because the university provides a good amount of guidance and support to students seeking internships. The university recognizes the importance of practical experience and hands-on learning opportunities for students to enhance their skills and employability.

It's affordable and has a good name.
Tips: You should be ready. First few months can be difficult. There is a cultural shift but you get used to the change and love to be here. You get scholarships of about 30% which will reduce your fees and you can afford to pay your fees while studying if you work hard. I am very satisfied with the university as it has a very good name and it is affordable. I paid my fees myself and managed to ace it.

It's good to study and enjoy the college atmosphere
Tips: My university provided a scholarship. They are very helpful and supportive in all ways. And many more opportunities such as job, internships and so on are provided to students. For students coming here, it is important to know what the college is providing and what is beneficial to you or else it would be difficult to understand.
Likes (Public transportation): It is very easy and convenient to reach the university. You have buses and trains to reach the university. Plan before you start as the timings are on time. And there isn't much to understand with the system, although, I am new and still exploring the country I would say public transport is easy to use.
Dislikes (Internships): There are many ways to apply for an internship. The college provides input for where you can do stuff for the jobs and all. You can find relevant internships based on your studies like business analytics, digital marketing, business development management and so on.

You can meet people from different cultures, and learn about them.
Tips: Since I'm here only for 10 months I can say that there are many opportunities for medical, teaching and finance as well so students coming here can try doing these specific courses to land them the best job. However, make sure you are aligned with the course offered and know what your courses can provide you.
Likes (Indian Food): The minimum of food expenses if you want to eat out would be around 10 to 15 aud dollars. To save up money I would recommend cooking home food. The less you spend on outside food, the more you can buy groceries and necessities for a whole week. So this way you can save a maximum upto 50% of your money if you keep track of your finance on food.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): The chance of immigration is pretty moderate if you're here to study only business courses. But if you are doing medicine then you are in a safe place to work in and be happy with your income. If I had a chance to permanently shift here then I would because of the cultural diversity. It's like no matter how much you dig down you'll still find more to explore.

Amazing time spent in UOW!
Tips: My time at UOW was amazing! Made a ton of friends from different backgrounds and ethnicities. There are plenty of interactive events here that one can be a part of. The library is very spacious and commuting to the university is quite easy because there is a free shuttle bus service provided. There is a transition but it is swift if you are open to it, embracing diversity.

Not so good experience at UOW.
Tips: To be a finance student in UOW is not easy, I studied finance here and as an International student from India, it's hard to get accustomed to the Australian English accent. You'll find yourself in situations where you hardly understand anything that is delivered. The course is not very easy, even if you prepare well you will not score good. If you are someone who is academically oriented and is always striving to get good grades then it will surely give you a hard time and might demotivate you too. You're required to submit too many assignments in a short time that it becomes difficult to keep track of yourself and what you are doing apart from your studies. Don't fall for the campus trap, the campus no doubt is beautiful but the campus life is so stressful. Administration here is also a problem, they hardly listen to your grievances. So, look out before coming here. If this is your shot at this country, then only take it and go for the admission process.

University of Wollongong is good.
Tips: For me, finding a room to rent in the early 2021 was very stressful, there were literally no empty rooms to rent at that time and I was traveling to university from Sydney which was very hectic. So if you don't have any contacts or relatives here at Wollongong, just book University accommodation if you can afford it.
Likes (Safety): People here are very welcoming and friendly. Although very rare, coming across drunks while waiting for the public transportation in the evenings was not a pleasant experience for me. I need to point it out that in my stay of over five months here, this happened only once.
Dislikes (Part time work): Landing the first part-time job is a bit difficult, even more so if you don't have any experience in the given industry (hospitality or any other). But being persistent and applying for jobs and not missing any opportunities will eventually help in getting one. On a different note, if you haven't already had your driving license, get it done before moving here, it will come in handy at times.

The faculty is talented, understanding and helps us to perform academically good.
Tips: There is a huge cultural shift and academic difference. Students must take the advice of professors and learning advisors, and put in an adequate amount of time for assignments and exams to get through otherwise it is very difficult to score good marks. Scholarships depend on the country you are applying from and which course you are applying to. Overall, I am pretty satisfied with the courses because it provides me the opportunity to learn about different things and avail practical opportunities to learn rather than learning by written memorization.

Tips: For new students, UQ offers lots of interesting events to feel involved in; my advice will be to attend those and make connections. Of course, there will be cultural shifts in society which you can observe after coming here and adapting to those will be beneficial. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with my University life, and my sustainable energy course also enjoying by going to lots of travel places in Queensland.
Likes (Safety): UQ has its own safe zone app for the security of the UQ community. Brisbane is quite welcoming for new students and filled with lovely people but not to say, everyone should be aware of their own safety as in rare cases there can be some incidents, especially at night.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Australian Immigration policy changes every time and it's a little hard to get a permanent settlement as long as you are not on the priority list. Given a chance, I would like to spend some time in Australia not necessarily looking for the parmanent immigration.

The college is beautiful and the learning process helps you grow professionally.
Tips: It is a multicultural environment so students are required to be pretty extroverted if they want to make contacts and be social. Scholarships are not granted easily as the cut-off goes to around 98-99 percentile unless you are transferring through an international programme from an Indian college.
Likes (Quality of faculty): They are very open to questions and help you with any doubts. Teaching methods are mostly practical and plagiarism free. It's easy to learn if you attend all the lectures and stay focused on your task instead of focusing on part time jobs. I would say the teaching faculty is pretty diverse in terms of nationality.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): Very few companies offer sponsorship for post-study visas. Job roles are not offered frequently and the base salary in my field is around 80k-90k AUD. It's very hard to get into companies as you will have to apply for 400-500 of them and still, it's luck-based because there are rounds for interviews, especially behaviour interviews.

Journey of a lower middle class Indian student to Australia.
Tips: Australian universities are very diverse. They barely have any cultural shock here. The good thing is that the faculty members/ professionals have a good work-life balance as compared to other countries. I got a fully funded scholarship for my PhD programme. Most students get funded scholarships as it is one of the top universities in Australia.
Likes (Internships): I am in Ph.D. programme. The best thing about the Ph.D programme in Australia is that you can extend your PhD programme simultaneously. You can get guidance from senior colleagues in your department. My Ph.D. is in energy field which is a booming sector across the world, and you can get an internship easily via this course as compared to other fields.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There are many restaurants in Brisbane which serve Indian food, but they can't beat Indian restaurants. You can afford to go for a dine-out at least once a week. For non-veg food options, you can buy whole cooked chicken at reasonable pricing. I prefer cooking myself as most of my recipes don't take much time.

Tiny fraction of a journey called life! Be determined during the masters journey.
Tips: The university life is a different experience in itself. We study, do part-time jobs, and do all the household chores ourselves and also take care of our health. It is not easy and is stressful but good friends/company and self determination keep one going.
Likes (Internships): The course has an industrial placement offer, which can be very rewarding specifically in terms of full-term employment. There is a defined placement cell/ coordinator who keeps a record of the companies and the students applying for the same. There are many internships or part time/casual jobs available in the food sector.
Dislikes (Value for money): The tuition fees is slightly expensive, but it's always better and easier to get a scholarship. The jobs after graduation may not be entirely enough to pay back the student loan. Earlier it was easy to land a part time job, but it's not really easy if you're inexperienced.

Brisbane is a very safe place.
Tips: It’s a very pretty campus with amazing people. The food options are good on campus for vegetarians but not in the city. The nightlife and clubs are amazing. The faculty is very helpful and there are many scholarships for Indians so that’s a plus.
Likes (Safety): Brisbane is a very safe place. More and more people are relocating to Brisbane. It’s very safe for girls to go out at night as there is security everywhere. This is the reason why Brisbane is an ideal place for me to live and stay here.
Dislikes (Internships): There are fewer internship opportunities for international students than Australian students. Sometimes, I feel Asian people face discrimination at workplaces. This is one of the prime reasons that I rate low on internships. But people are genuinely helpful.

A friendly and fun environment to learn about development and gain knowledge.
Tips: The culture can be a bit of a shock. People here have a different lifestyle, and everything can be a bit overwhelming considering the difference in way of life, but people here are very considerate and welcoming. I got an international student scholarship of 20%. I am very satisfied with the university and the country since there are many people from my native country.
Likes (Value for money): The fees can seem expensive, but the quality of teaching and faculty who are all PhD holders and have doctorate degrees bring a lot to the table. Since Australia is a multi-cultural country with people from around the globe this allows learning and respecting various cultures.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): My course offers a wide variety of post-study jobs in multiple domains. Plenty of companies offer post-study job opportunities and sponsor working visas. Job roles like managers, analysts, and consultants are generally offered in this domain, and packages like AUD $30,000- AUD $35,000 are generally offered.
