The Australia Awards Scholarship is a funding program for international students from over 100+ countries. This scholarship is for those who are coming to study in Australia across its different universities. There are four types of degrees for which international students can apply for the Australia Awards Scholarship.

Types of Courses Available for Australia Awards Scholarship
The following types of courses are available for Australia Awards Scholarship:
- Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses offered by TAFE institutions
- Bachelor’s degree (undergraduate) courses applying for a Subclass (500) visa
- Master’s degree courses
- Doctorate (PhD) programs
Applicants can apply for the scholarships in the year for which they are awarded. In case an awardee is unable to commence their study by November in the year of the award, the scholarship offer is usually withdrawn, and the applicant may have to re-apply for the next Intake.

Benefits of Australia Awards Scholarship
The following benefits can be availed if an applicant qualifies for the Australia Awards Scholarship:
- Applicant’s full tuition fees can be covered irrespective of the course opted for.
- Return air ticket for travelling to and from Australia - economy class.
- A one-time payment or establishment allowance for living expenses, books and study materials.
- Contributions to basic living expenses fortnightly based on the department’s discretion.
- Introductory Academic Program (IAP)–a compulsory program prior to the commencement of formal academic studies covering information on living and studying in Australia
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of the award (for award holder only)–provided to cover the scholar's basic medical costs (with the exception of pre-existing conditions)
- Pre-course English (PCE) fees, if deemed necessary may be available for students for training
- Supplementary academic support may be available to applicants to ensure a scholar's academic success or enhance one’s academic experience.
- Fieldwork (for research awards and Masters by coursework having a research component where fieldwork is compulsory) may be available for eligible research students for one return economy class airfare via the most direct route to their country of citizenship or within Australia.

Australia Awards Scholarship Eligibility
To be eligible for Australia Awards Scholarship, the applicants will have to be:
- Minimum 18 years of age on 1 February of the year of scholarship commencement;
- Should be a resident of the participating countries.
- Should not be a citizen of Australia or hold permanent residency in Australia or be applying for a visa to live in Australia permanently;
- Also the applicant should not have received any long-term Australia Award in the previous four years.
- Should not have been convicted of any criminal activities in the past.
- Should have proved the eligibility requirements for institution of admission in Australia.
- Also, the applicant must not apply for scholarship for a course level lower than the already achieved one in the past.
- Should score a minimum score on the following accepted English language tests
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6.5
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 84
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): 58
