Cost of Studying medical courses in Germany

Germany is home to top public universities that are largely state-funded and does not require students to pay tuition fee but only an administration fee as part of the admission process. Currently, medical courses are only available across public universities in Germany. Hence, international students would require an understanding of the German language to apply to the university.
Cost of Living in Germany: Candidates looking to live in Germany are required to open a mandatory Blocked Account. The Blocked Account has the required living expense for a student. This amount is decided by the government in Germany. As of January 1, 2021, keeping the rate of inflation in mind, the mandatory amount required in the Block Account for studying in Germany is €10,332 for an entire year or €861 for a month.
German Study Visa
Candidates going to study in Germany would require a German Student Visa for their entire duration of stay. The student visa would also allow students access to part-time work for 20 hours a week for their entire duration of the study or 120 full or 240 half days per year Candidates should note that on completion of their study, they would be allowed an eighteen-month (18 months) post-study period to find employment in their field of study. Students will have to pay around €110 as a visa application fee. Generally, the processing time for a Residence Permit visa is 3 months (8 to 12 weeks).
Academic requirements

- The student must have completed his 10+2 from a recognized board.
- The student must have an aggregate percentage of at least 50% or above in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and must have studied English as a compulsory subject during his 10+2 years.
- Students are also required to qualify for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). This is mandatory even if the student is planning to pursue his medical studies abroad.
- The candidate would also be required to produce an Eligibility Certificate issued by the Medical Council of India at the time of admission to Foreign Medical Universities.
- Candidates would also need to have a working knowledge of German Languages for admission to private universities or English Language scores for admission to private colleges.

Students who have completed their MBBS in Germany are eligible to work in Germany after their studies. International students can work for up to 18 months as part of their post-study work permit in Germany. This extended period of 18 months is called a post-study work permit in Germany. However, if a student wants to permanently stay in Germany, he or she can apply for an ‘EU Blue Card’ - Residence Permit as early as two years after receiving their work visa.
