A student who plans on studying a course that is more than 90 days in duration needs a Residence Permit. According to the IND (Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service), for students who plan to stay for more than 90 days in the Netherlands, the university/ institute is their ‘Recognized Sponsor’. Under the TEV (Entry and Residence Permit) Procedure, the recognized sponsor would apply for the visa for the student. The visa process for the Netherlands involves two steps:
- MVV: It is the entry visa, also called the Provisional Residence Permit. You can apply for MVV at the VFS Netherlands Visa Application Centers in New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Jalandhar, and Ahmedabad. Alternatively, you can also apply for an MVV through your host university. The university will have its application fee which can range anywhere between € 250 and € 350
- VRV: It is the residence permit that is given to the students when they land. Your university will apply for your Residence Permit on your behalf. Once you have received your permit, you will have to register yourself at the local council.
You are required to submit your financial documents that prove that you can support yourself during the course. The amount that you have to prove is € 10,000 per annum (€ 835 per month).
