'MARG' is a virtual mentoring series for Indian students seeking to study in the US. It is coordinated with the University Grants Commission and the Ministry of Education. It is expected to guide aspiring Indian students on the various career opportunities in the US.

'MARG' to Connect Indian Students with Indian-Origin Professors from Top US Universities

Study in US: MARG stands for Mentoring for Academic Excellence and Research Guidance. It is launched to provide a virtual mentoring program which will connect Indian students aspiring to study in the US with Indian-Origin professors from prestigious US universities.

Ministry of Education and the University Grants Commission of India in coordination with the Embassy of India have jointly developed this program. The initiative aims to connect aspiring students, especially from smaller towns and cities of India with top US  universities.

"The objective is to give Indian students and researchers exposure to the latest developments in their fields of study as well as knowledge, career, skilling and research opportunities from the relevant experts across the US," reads the statement by the Embassy of India in Washington DC.

'MARG' Initiative: More Details

In the first round of this series, many Indian-origin faculty from US elite universities such as Purdue, Stanford, George Mason University, and the University of Maryland are participating.

Deputy Chief of Mission Ambassador Sripriya Ranganathan addressed the inaugural session of the series and highlighted the expanding skilling, research, academic, and industrial ecosystem in India in emerging technology such as High-Performance Computing, AI & ML, Semiconductors, Bioengineering, Quantum Science & Technology, Advanced Materials etc.








These sectors are also deepening in the India and US partnerships for academic-research-technology.

Indian universities welcome virtual mentoring program for students

The Directors and Vice Chancellors of the participating universities from India have expressed hope that these sessions will benefit not only the students but also the faculty who are skilling, teaching and doing research in these areas of emerging and critical technology.







"The Embassy is deeply grateful to the Indian diaspora professors in the US for their partnership in this quest and seeks to expand academic linkages between India & the US further with their active involvement and support," adds a statement by the Embassy.
