Based on the data for the academic year 2023-24 for fall semester enrollment, Purdue University is among the top 10 universities in the US which attracted the maximum number of international students.

Study in US: According to a new national ranking in the US, Purdue University is among the top 10 US universities which attracted the maximum number of foreign students.

Institute of International Education (IIE) released the 2024 Open Doors Report in which Purdue was placed at number 9 among 4,500-plus private and public universities and at number 24 in all US universities for its number of international students.

The report used the data of academic year 2023-24 enrollment and optional training, and it found that Purdue University has a total of 12,181 international students, which is an increase of 6.2% compared to the previous year. These students are from 130 countries.

Heidi Arola, assistant vice president of global partnerships and programs said, “Our international students are vital to the vibrancy and success of our campus community and to our state’s economy. Welcoming students from around the world strengthens our institutions, provides critical learning experiences for all students, and prepares them to thrive in an interconnected world.”








Purdue University With High International Students Enrollment: More Details

Purdue University is celebrating its 75th year of association with IIE which was launched in 1948. IIE was the first private organization to provide international exchanges. Purdue and IIE came under partnership in the year 1949.







According to the fall 2024 semester data of Purdue enrollment, the international student body was 17.2% of the total number of students enrolled at the university.

The discipline with the biggest number of international students is the College of Science. It accounts for 24.4% of Purdue’s total international enrollment, followed by College of Engineering where the international students enrollment stood at 22.4%, and Mitch Daniels School of Business has 17.6%. There are 15% of students at the Purdue Polytechnic Institute and 12.7% at the College of Agriculture.

"Purdue’s international students and their families also generate economic value for Indiana and for Purdue. According to NAFSA: Association of International Educators, the Purdue population of international students and their families brought an estimated $340 million to the state’s economy annually, supporting 3,399 jobs. Statewide, international students account for $890.2 million and support 8,297 jobs," reads Purdue University's statement.
