Study in UK: The University of Manchester is currently accepting applications for MSc in International Disaster Management for the 2025 session from Indian students.

The course offers an interdisciplinary and comprehensive exploration of policies, theories, and practices needed for solving the many challenges on the global scale which is posed by disasters.

The course duration is of one year, where students will learn key concepts of governance, resilience, vulnerability, and sustainable development. They gain the skills to analyze and respond to global complex disaster scenarios. The course offers a dynamic learning environment where students. are encouraged to foster innovative solutions through cutting-edge research. The faculty team is experts drawn from various fields including politics, geography, medicine and development studies. The course prepares students for an impactful career in disaster management. For the academic year starting in September 2025, the tuition fee is £29,250.

Various Indian Government scholarships are available such as the Rajarshi Shahu Maharaj Scholarship (Maharashtra), Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence (Rajasthan), Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship (Jharkhand), and the National Overseas Scholarship Scheme.

MSc In International Disaster Management: Entry Requirements

The following are the entry requirements:

  • The applicant should have an upper Second-Class Honours Degree or equivalent from a recognized university in a relevant discipline.
  • IELTS overall grade should be 6.5 with a minimum of 6.5 in writing and 6.0 in all skills required. In TOEFL iBT, a 93+ score is required with 22 in writing and no skill below 20.

After completing the course, the graduates can make a career in non-profit organisations, government agencies, research institutions and international development agencies.
