Scholarships for Non-Local Students in Hong Kong 

These are some more scholarships offered by HKSAR Government to non-local students while they study in Hong Kong: 

1. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government Scholarship: 

Recognises achievements of extraordinary non-local students studying across 08 University Grants Committee- (funded universities) Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and the Vocational Training Council. The scholarship amount is close to HKD 80,000 annually for international students. FInd more details here.

2. The Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund: 

These scholarships are awarded to outstanding international students pursuing a full-time bachelor’s degree in a university of Hong Kong. The scholarship amount is HKD 80,000 offered annually. 

3. The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme 

The Fellowship Scheme offers an annual stipend of HKD 319,200 to PhD students. For conference and research-related travel allowance, an amount of HKD 13,300 is given annually to each awardee for 3 consecutive years.

HKUST Scholarships for International Students 

There are various scholarships divided into sections based on the applicant’s type of study and course offered at the #1 university of Hong Kong - HKUST. Read on for eligibility and application related details: 

University Admissions Scholarship Scheme for IB Diploma Holders 

International Baccalaureate (IB) candidates or degree holders are automatically eligible for this scholarship. This scholarship is offered to those IB students who have scored either 40 or above. The table below throws more light:

Candidates are admitted with GCE AL / International AL qualification levels and have an A Grade in at least 3 advanced level (AL) subjects are eligible for this scholarship. University Admissions Scholarship for Other Qualifications Holders 

Academic scholarships are awarded to creamy layer of students holding other qualifications but based on their academic merit. Students are shortlisted automatically for these scholarships without formal applications. 

The maximum or highest amount of scholarship is usually equivalent to full tuition fee including an allowance of HKD 55,000 per academic year, which is renewable.
