Scholarship Overview

Alberta Innovates Graduate Student Scholarships (Faculty of Arts & Engineering) provides financial support, to academically excellent Indian students, for pursuing any Masters Degree course at the University of Calgary, This scholarship is specifically meant for Indian students who are pursuing full-time Masters Degree course at the University of Calgary, involves a one_time scholarship award of 26000 that can be used to pay for the tuition. Students must note that accommodation, health cover, application fees, etc. do not fall within the purview of this scholarship. Moreover, this scholarship will be awarded to a maximum of Varies depending upon the university students, one of whom might belong to a country other than India. To be eligible for the award, applicants must have completed their Bachelor degree and passed the 12th grade.
International students seeing to avail this scholarship need to appear for English proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS and PTE. The following documentation is required from students in order to apply for the scholarship: SOP, LOR and CV. Students are not required to submit a separate application for applying to the Alberta Innovates Graduate Student Scholarships (Faculty of Arts & Engineering), as their application will be automatically considered at the time of course application. Students are expected to return to India after the completion of their academic course.

Eligibility

  • All students enrolled in a thesis-based graduate degree program
  • Applicants must hold a four-year baccalaureate degree or equivalent from a recognized institution
  • A minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 point system, over the past two years of full-time study (a minimum of 10 full-course equivalents or 60 units) of the undergraduate degree
  • A completed four-year baccalaureate degree in Communications Studies, Culture Studies or related field (For MA in Communication and Media Studies)
  • A four year BEng or BSc degree in Science, Medicine, Kinesiology, or other Engineering from a recognized institution (For MS in Civil Engineering)
  • English language requirement:
    • TOEFL - overall score of 86, with no section less than 20
    • IELTS - overall score of 6.5, with no section less than 6.0
  • A Graduate Program Director may exempt an applicant whose first language is not English from the ELP requirement if they meet the following criteria:
    • The student has completed one of the following degrees in an institution where the sole language of instruction and examination is English:
      • a Bachelor’s Degree (minimum of 3 years in length), or  
      • a Graduate Degree
    • Eligible institutions must be listed as providing English language instruction in the World Higher Education Database (WHED)
