Scholarship Overview

Chevening Scholarships is awarded for pursuing MBA - Full Time at Cranfield University. A student can get a maximum amount of GBP 18000 and the scholarship amount will be given one time only. The scholarship amount can be used for paying tuition, living, travel, airfare and others. To be eligible for the award, applicants must have completed their 12th grade and also possess a Bachelor degree. To be eligible for this award, international students must take English language examinations as well as standardised exams like IELTS, PTE, GRE and GMAT. As a part of selection process, applicants must have relevant work experience and also needs to appear for an interview. In order to apply for the scholarship, students need the following documents: LOR.

  • Payment of tuition fees (Chevening applies a tuition fee cap of £18,000 to MBA programmes. Applicants will be expected to cover the remaining costs above the £18,000 cap)
  • Economy travel to and from applicants country of residence by an approved route for applicant only
  • An arrival allowance
  • The cost of an entry clearance (visa) application only for applicant
  • A departure allowance
  • A contribution of up to £75 for TB testing, where this is required
  • A travel top-up allowance
  • A monthly personal living allowance (stipend) to cover accommodation and living expenses. The monthly stipend will depend on whether applicants are studying inside or outside London. These rates are subject to annual review. Stipend payments will be made to the applicant on or around the 21st of the month for the following full month. Where he/she arrive in the UK or leave the UK part way through the month, the stipend for that month will be adjusted as appropriate
  • In Taiwan and Singapore, the Chevening scholarship only comprises tuition fees and one visa application

Eligibility

  • Applicants must:
    • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory
    • Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honors degree in the UK 
    • Have at least two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience. The types of work experience include:
      • Full-time employment
      • Part-time employment
      • Voluntary work
      • Paid or unpaid internships
    • Apply to three different eligible UK university courses:
      • Applicants must choose full-time and,
      • Taught 1-year master’s (i.e. not research-focused MRes programs)
      • Start in the autumn term 
      • Lead to a master’s degree qualification
      • Based in the UK
    • Have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices
  • Interview: 
    • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview. The interview will be in the city where the British Embassy or High Commission has a representation 
    • The interview will be a competency-based panel assessment conducted in English
    • The interview panel will include representatives from the British embassy or high commission, who will use the global Chevening criteria to assess your answers
    • Applicants will be asked a series of questions discussing some of the information they provided in the application form. The panel will ask questions that will enable them to explain their personal and professional aspirations, and how Chevening can facilitate their achievement of these goals

  • LOR: 2 Reference letters are recommended. Referees should be people who can comment on applicants general suitability to receive a Chevening Award. Referees should be known to applicant, either in an academic or professional capacity. They should not be a relative or close personal friend
  • Reference should cover the following:

    1) How long have you known the applicant? 
    2) In what capacity do you know the applicant? (e.g. professional, educational, supervisory, voluntary, religious) 
    3) When you last had regular contact with the applicant
    4) A brief overall endorsement of the applicant, including their:

    • Skills in leadership and networking
    • Personal, intellectual, and interpersonal qualities
    • Ability to complete a demanding academic programme in the UK
  • Application Process: Applications must be submitted online via the Chevening website. Applicants can choose 3 different UK universities to seek admission with the scholarship. All applicants who wish to be considered for an award at Cranfield University are encouraged to select Cranfield as their first preference in their Chevening application
