Scholarship Overview

Chevening Scholarships is awarded for pursuing MSc Human Resource Management,International Business MSc,Management MSc,Global Supply Chain Management MSc,Marketing MSc,MA in Media and Public Relations,MSc Environmental Management at Brunel University London. A student can get a maximum amount of GBP 20450 and the scholarship amount will be given one time only. The scholarship amount can be used for paying tuition, travel, airfare and others. To be eligible for the award, applicants must have completed their Bachelor degree and passed the 12th grade. To be eligible for this award, international students must take English proficiency tests such as IELTS and PTE. As a part of selection process, applicants must have relevant work experience and also needs to appear for an interview. Students will require the following documentation to apply for the scholarship: LOR.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory
  • Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate program at a UK university by the time they submit their application
    • This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honors degree in the UK
  • Have at least two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience

English language proficiency:

  • ELTS: 6.5 with min score of 6.0 in each section
  • PTE: 58 with min score of 51 in each component
  • Work Experience: The types of work experience that are eligible for Chevening can include:
    • Full-time employment
    • Part-time employment
    • Voluntary work
    • Paid or unpaid internships
    • Work experience can be completed before, during, or after graduating from undergraduate studies, however, any mandatory employment that counted towards the undergraduate or postgraduate course would not be eligible
  • Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview. The interview will be in the city where the British Embassy or High Commission has a representation
    • The interview will be a competency-based panel assessment conducted in English
    • Applicants will be asked a series of questions discussing some of the information they provided in the application form
    • The panel will ask questions that will enable applicants to explain his/her personal and professional aspirations, and how Chevening can facilitate their achievement of these goals
    • Applicants course choices will also be discussed and they will be asked to provide an update on their applications
  • Note: The organization understands that given restrictions in place due to COVID-19, face-to-face interviews may not be possible this year
    • If applicants are unable to attend an interview in person, Skype interviews will be permitted
    • Applicants will be informed in their invitation email if their interview can be conducted via Skype

  • LOR: 2 Reference letters are required
    • Referees should be people who can comment on applicants' general suitability to receive a Chevening Award. Referees should be known to the applicant, either in an academic or professional capacity. They should not be a relative or close personal friend
    • Reference should cover the following:
      1. Your contact details: address, email address, and phone number
      2. How long have you known the applicant?
      3. In what capacity do you know the applicant? (e.g. professional, educational, supervisory, voluntary, religious, etc.)
      4. When did you last have regular contact with the applicant?
      5. A brief overall endorsement of the applicant, including their:
        • Skills in leadership and networking.
        • Personal, intellectual, and interpersonal qualities.
        • Ability to complete a demanding academic program in the UK
  • Education documents (copies of your certificates and/or transcripts)
  • A short biography that tells more about the applicant

  • Applicants can choose 3 different UK universities to seek admission to the scholarship
  • All applicants who wish to be considered for an award at Brunel are encouraged to select Brunel as their first preference in their Chevening application

Additional Information

Applicants are not eligible for a Chevening Scholarship if they:

  • Hold British or dual British citizenship (unless they are a citizen of a British Overseas Territory or hold BN(O) and are applying from Hong Kong)
  • Hold refugee status in a non-Chevening eligible country. Applicants who are citizens of a Chevening-eligible country and who hold refugee status in a Chevening-eligible country are eligible for a scholarship
  • Have previously studied in the UK with funding from a UK Government-funded scholarship
