Scholarship Overview

Commonwealth Shared Scholarship is applicable to only Masters courses. This is a merit as well as need based scholarship. Commonwealth Shared Scholarship award up to Pound 12,500 one time to various international students. The number of students to be awarded this scholarship are 2 each year. Students must have passed 12th and Undergraduate degree to be eligible for this scholarship. All international students irrespective of their Nationality can apply for a Commonwealth Shared Scholarship. If an applicant has already received a free bursary or has applied for another scholarship offered by the university, then he/she is not eligible for this scholarship.. All international students are auto-considered for these scholarships when they apply for the courses that have scholarships.

Eligibility

  • To apply for a Commonwealth Shared Scholarship, applicants  must: 
    • Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person
    • Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country
    • Be available to start your academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September
    • By September, hold a first degree of at least upper second-class (2:1) honours standard, or a lower second-class degree (2:2) and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree).
    • Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a high-income country
    • Be unable to afford to study at a UK university without this scholarship

Application Process for this scholarship

    • Applicants must make their application using the CSC's Electronic Application System (EAS)
  • Selection process
    • Each participating UK University conducts its own recruitment process to select a specified number of candidates for Shared Scholarships. They put forward their selected candidates in April each year. The CSC then confirms whether the selected students meet the eligibility criteria for this scheme, and they inform candidates of their results by July of each year

  • While applying, applicants will need to sign to say that they:
    • Have not studied for one (academic) year or more in a high income (developed) country
    • Have not worked for one year or more in a high income (developed) country
    • Are themselves, or through their family, unable to pay to study in the UK (your home university may be asked to state its procedures for verifying their financial status)
    • Will return to their home country within one month of the end date of their award
