Commonwealth Shared Scholarships is offered by the Queen's University Belfast to international students. Commonwealth Shared Scholarships is available for students from any country who want to study Masters Degree in the UK at the Queen's University Belfast. Every year, the university selects 2 candidates from all the received applications and offers them scholarships based on their academic profiles. The maximum scholarship that a student can receive is GBP 31796 at Queen's University Belfast. The fee needs to be paid in full, the scholarship amount will be given to students once they start their study program.

Eligibility

Candidates must:

  • Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person
  • Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country
  • Be available to start your academic studies in the UK, or remotely if required, by the start of the UK academic year in September
  • Not have studied or worked for one (academic) year or more in a high income country
  • Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship
  • Have provided all supporting documentation in the required format
  • Have applied for and been offered a full time place at Queen’s on the eligible one year Masters programme and must also make a separate scholarship application
  • Satisfy the University’s English Language requirements for entry to the programme normally by the closing date specified or shortly afterwards

Application Process for this scholarship

  • Copies of an official Degree/Diploma Certificates, for the qualification(s) already completed
  • Degree transcripts for all completed periods of study (undergraduate level and above)
    • If the applicant's degree is still in progress, he/she must provide a transcript of the results achieved to date. This can be requested from his/her University
  • Certified translations, if the applicant's original documents are not in English
    • If he/she does not have translations at the time of application, please forward by email to intl.student@qub.ac.uk when available
  • Proof of English Language proficiency
  • Applicants must include the names and contact details of two referees, normally academics, who are familiar with your undergraduate and/or postgraduate studies
    • If they have taken a higher degree or postgraduate course, one of their referees should normally be from that institution
    • If they have been away from higher education for some time, they may use an employer as one of their referees
  • Other documents, (such as a resume, writing samples, portfolios) as requested by the department
