Darden Jefferson Fellowships for the University of Virginia is an independent merit-based scholarship and fellowship program at the University. Jefferson Fellowships is the premier graduate fellowship offered to students by the university.

Darden Jefferson Fellowships: Benefits

• Each student will receive full tuition and fees, health insurance, and a $20,000 living stipend.
• Students may also receive a $7,000 stipend for their MBA program for the research projects.
• The major advantage of the program is the one-on-one relationship that will be established with a distinguished professor at Darden.
• Each student will select a faculty member as his or her advisor prior to the beginning of the first year of the MBA program.
• The Student will work closely with the advisor on an independent research project.

• The Jefferson Scholars Foundation invites students for the fellowship in late summer.
• The school nominates a select number of candidates in the first application rounds.
• The first round of Fellowship application review may include a personal interview.
• The Jefferson Fellows Competition is now a member of Darden’s top-ranked faculty to select the finalists.
• The competition begins the next day and includes a panel interview.

• Each Darden Jefferson Fellow will receive full tuition and fees, health insurance, and a $20,000 living stipend
• Additionally, Fellows may receive a $7,000 stipend for their MBA program to defray the cost of the required laptop, support another research-related activity, fund a global learning experience, or cover costs related to the fellow’s research project

Eligibility

• Applicant must have completed their bachelor's degree at a college or university in the United States or hold a college or university degree equivalent to a four-year American baccalaureate degree
• Applicants with only three years of bachelors degree will also be considered
• Candidates interested in being considered for this Fellowship should be exceptional candidates from anywhere in the world who demonstrate qualities such as ethical leadership, diplomatic decisiveness, a track record of putting ideas into action, and a superb record of academic achievement
• The first round of Fellowship application review may include a personal interview. An evaluative interview is conducted by invitation only
