DOOLEYS Community Engagement Internship Scholarship is offered by the Australian Catholic University to international students. DOOLEYS Community Engagement Internship Scholarship is available for students from all countries who want to study Bachelors Degree in the Australia at the Australian Catholic University. Every year, the university selects Single candidate from all the received applications and offers them scholarships based on their academic profiles. The maximum scholarship that a student can receive is AUD 5000 at Australian Catholic University. The fee needs to be paid in full, the scholarship amount will be given to students once they start their study program.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to current ACU students who meet all the following criteria:

  • Course: any ACU undergraduate degree
  • Campus: North Sydney, Strathfield or Blacktown
  • Year level: second year or above
  • Contributions made to community service and ACU’s Mission.

Successful applicants will also be provided with:

  • a work space and access to a computer in the ACU Engagement office.
  • an ACU Engagement mentor throughout their participation in the program.
  • access to all ACU Engagement seminars, workshops and other community engagement learning opportunities.
  • the opportunity to give a presentation on their learnings to our community partners and senior ACU Staff at the end-of-year seminar.

Application Process for this scholarship

Application process- Applicants will be required to provide the following as part of the application:

  • Written statement of approximately 300 words outlining: your commitment to community service and how this relates to ACU’s Mission.
  • Written reference from an academic in support of your statement.
  • Written reference from a community leader in support of your statement.

Selection criteria- Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria:

  • Written statement
  • Commitment to community engagement and the ACU Mission

  • Recipients will also requested to submit a scholarship impact statement for the donor explaining how the scholarship has assisted them. The letter should be submitted to the Scholarships Office no later than 1 October each year.

Additional Information

To remain eligible for scholarship payments, recipients are required to maintain the following: 

  • Enrolment in the same course under which the scholarship was awarded.
  • Minimum grade point average of at least 5.0 (credit) in each semester
  • Participation in a minimum of 100 hours of community engagement practicum per year with ACU Engagement (may include internally-focused engagement activities)
  • Participation in a minimum of 100 hours of approved community engagement activity per year with community partners of ACU Engagement
  • Attend quarterly workshops focused on topics related to community engagement
  • Electronic portfolio that displays their progress and achievements throughout their time in the CES Program
  • Regular contact with their ACU Engagement mentor

Selection process- Applicants will be shortlisted by the Scholarships Office, and the recipient will be determined by a selection committee. The committee will be comprised of: Father Anthony Casamento (Vice President), Dr Matthew Pink (Associate Director, Community Engagement), Community partner representative (TBA)
