Essays Required

Essay- Applicant's essay must answer one of the following two questions in 1,000-2,000 words and be in Word, Rich Text Format, or Adobe Acrobat PDF format:

  • Your client wants to build a building façade with architectural exposed structural steel (AESS) with hot-dip galvanized components, but has heard galvanizing can have mixed appearances. Make a case for hot-dip galvanizing to be used for the project, noting specific practices that can improve the final appearance of hot-dip galvanizing to meet the AESS requirements
  • The Department of Transportation has tasked you with replacing guardrails along a 100 mile stretch of highway.  They want at least a 50-year design life and looking to reuse existing guardrails and materials.  Put together a proposal using hot-dip galvanizing including the most innovative ways the DOT can take advantage of its recyclability/reuse detailing how that will reduce environmental and economic impacts
