Scholarship Overview

Graduate Student Contingency Bursary is a type of scholarship which is offered at University of Waterloo to those international students who are pursuing a Masters Degree. This is a Need Based Scholarship, which is provided to only maximum number of students, depending on the University student. Amount for Graduate Student Contingency Bursary is not mentioned by the University of Waterloo. Also, the Graduate Student Contingency Bursary is a tuition reducing scholarship, offered in the first year of Masters Degree only. Applications for Graduate Student Contingency Bursary at University of Waterloo are filed separately. In order to apply for the scholarship, students need the following documents: Financial Documents. Most recent tax assessment for you, if applicable (and your spouse/partner, if applicable) Written confirmation that you are seeking financial support elsewhere and identify how you are going to cover any shortfall The written confirmation should also include a financial plan for future terms Letter from spouse/partner's employer, if applicable Application Process: The student must submit the application package to The Centre or Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA), Needles Hall Along with the Graduate Student Contingency Bursary application. The eligibility of the students to qualify for Graduate Student Contingency Bursary would solely depend on the applicant’s admission to University of Waterloo Masters Degree, his/her aptitude for an overall contribution towards University of Waterloo community and of course the academic achievements.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

• be international 
• be a full-time graduate student in good academic standing
• normally be in term 4.0 or beyond of their academic program
• show evidence of the extenuating circumstances that have occurred since their time of admission; students past their term limits (with extenuating circumstances) may also be considered
• demonstrate their financial shortfall through the completion of the budget section of the application
• provide written confirmation that they are seeking support elsewhere and identify how they are covering any shortfall;  written confirmation should also include a financial plan for future terms

 

Preference will be given to following candidates:

• Preference will be given to graduate students enrolled in research-based programs
