Eligibility

  • College of Agricultural and Life Sciences scholarship will meet the following criteria:

    • be enrolled in a UF CALS undergraduate major,
    • be registered as a full-time student at UF (not including transient coursework), and
    • have a minimum 2.5 GPA (most scholarships require a minimum 3.0 GPA)
  • Applications are reviewed by the CALS Graduate Scholarships and Awards Committee and awards are made contingent on available funding. Scholarship applications are scored on the following:
    • scholastic achievements, honors and awards;
    • leadership activities, including service to department, college, UF or professional societies;
    • teaching activities;
    • scholarship in discipline (publications, posters and presentations, for example);
    • letters of recommendation;
    • quality of research abstract; and
    • academic performance.

Application Process for this scholarship

  • Scholarship applications are evaluated by a faculty committee on the basis of scholarship, leadership and professional potential. Recipients are selected during the summer semester and scholarships are awarded for the following academic year. All applicants will be notified of a decision in early August
  • provide the following:
    • abstract of your academic research or master's project (2,000 character limit),
    • a brief statement about your career plans (3,500 character limit),
    • a pdf of your curriculum vitae/resume (keeping in mind the scoring criteria listed above), and
    • the names and email addresses of two professional or academic references, at least one of which must be employed by the University of Florida.
