Scholarship Overview

Humber College offers International Entrance scholarships. Every year, the International Students Office of Humber College awards scholarships to degree-seeking students who have specified financial needs. Note that a large portion of the scholarship funds come from International student tuition. International Entrance scholarships is applicable for Bachelors Degree. The award is applicable for the courses like Bachelor of Interior Design. If we consider the amount of the International Entrance scholarships, then it varies each semester. The applicants should review the scholarship application in order to fully understand the availability and amount for that particular semester. To be eligible for this scholarship students must have appeared for 12th grade. Foreign students wishing to apply for this scholarship must take English proficiency exams such as TOEFL, IELTS and PTE.   • The applicant will receive the scholarship amount on the basis of High School GPA:
    • $4,000(Renewable): if GPA is 95% or higher
    • $3,500(Renewable): if GPA is 90 - 94.9%
    • $3,000(Renewable): if GPA is 85 - 89.9%
    • $2,000(Renewable): if GPA is 80 - 84.9%
    • $1,500(One Time): if GPA is 75 - 79.9%
  • Renewable scholarships will be reissued if the student achieves 80% or above in each year of the Bachelor's degree

Eligibility

  • XIIth: Applicant must have passed High School with an overall minimum grade point average (GPA) of 65 percent
  • Required Courses: Grade 12th English with minimum 65 percent and Grade 11th or 12th Mathematics with minimum 60 percent
  • Portfolio: Applicants must submit a portfolio that includes Four creative pieces
    • Submission 1 – Perspective line drawing of a chair (two-point perspective)
    • Submission 2 – Perspective line drawing of an interior space or building façade
    • Submission 3 – Colour still life study that demonstrates the use of color and composition
    • Submission 4 – Students choose one of the following which they feel describes their work as designers or artists
      • a) Interior design work such as plan/section/elevation and materials board. This may be a school project or something completed on their own
      • b) A sculpture or architectural model, or something they designed and fabricated including the conceptual sketches and the finished piece
      • c) AutoCAD, Sketchup, or Revit drawings students feel show their talent as designers
      • d) Multiple images from a sketchbook students keep of spaces, places, buildings, and objects that inspire them
  • Writing sample: Research and write a 350-word writing sample describing your knowledge and interest in interior design
    • Refer to current issues in the interior design profession and include any projects, periods or styles, architectural influences, designers, or artists whom students feel have influenced either their artistic endeavors or decision to pursue a career in the design discipline
  • English Language Proficiency Proof:
    • TOEFL: 84 with no single test score below 21
    • IELTS: 6.5 with no single test score below 6.0
    • PTE: Minimum score of 58 - 60
    • ELP can be waived for the applicants having a minimum of 3 years of full-time study at the secondary school level where English is the primary language of instruction and evaluation, with acceptable grades in all English courses

Note: The scholarship is awarded on the basis of high school GPA. Applicants are eligible for the scholarship if they have a GPA in the range of 75-100%

Additional Information

  • The College allocates entrance scholarships for degree programs to newly admitted students entering their first year of post-secondary studies directly from high school
  • Students requiring preparatory courses in their first year or subsequent years of study are not eligible for the scholarship
  • Successfully renewed scholarships will be awarded at the same amount that was originally awarded on admission
  • Students must remain registered as a full?time student in consecutive years for the duration of their degree program
  • If the student becomes ineligible for scholarship renewal, previously awarded scholarship funds will remain as awarded towards the student’s tuition fees
  • Any exceptions to the conditions of renewability will be at the discretion of the official designation of the Office of the Registrar
  • Exceptions will only be considered through an official petition by the student’s Faculty and on written recommendation from the Faculty’s Dean
