Scholarship Overview

International Baccalaureate Excellence Scholarship is offered by the University of Essex to international students. International Baccalaureate Excellence Scholarship is available for students from all countries who want to study Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree in the UK at the University of Essex. Every year, the university selects a certain number of candidates from all the received applications and offers them scholarships based on their academic profiles. The maximum scholarship that a student can receive is GBP 2000 at University of Essex. The fee needs to be paid in full, the scholarship amount will be given to students once they start their study program.

  • Students must:-
    • Must have received an offer of admission for entry to the University of Essex for 2024-25 and must actively make Essex their firm choice
    • Have registered for the first year of a full-time undergraduate degree at the University of Essex
    • Have obtained 34 points or above in the International Baccalaureate
  • Students must register for a full-time undergraduate degree at the University of Essex with first enrolment at the University of Essex in 2024-25

  • Applicants don’t need to complete an application form
  • Documents required for admission application:-
    • Official transcripts
    • Proof of english language proficiency scores
    • Personal statement is required with the following guidelines:
      • It should be written in English
      • Maximum limit is between 1,000 and 4,000 characters or a maximum of 47 lines of text (including spaces and blank lines) 
      • It is strongly recommended to write the statement using a word-processing package such as MS-Word and then paste it in the space provided
      • Use italics, bold or underlining in the personal statement is restricted
    • A written recommendation from a teacher, adviser or professional who knows the applicant academically

Scholarship Application

Students will be auto-considered for this scholarship when they apply for the courses on which this scholarship is applicable. No separate application is needed.

Additional Information

  • The following students are NOT eligible for the International Baccalaureate Excellence Scholarship regardless of meeting the above criteria:
    • Students undertaking courses at East 15 Acting School
    • University of Essex International College (UEIC) Pathway students
    • Students on Higher/Degree Apprenticeship courses
    • Students undertaking a degree that is normally delivered wholly online
    • Students directly continuing from one course to another (for example from Foundation degree or HND on to the final year of an honours degree);
    • Students transferring into the second year from another UK higher education institution.
    • Current students whose first year of undergraduate study at the University of Essex, was prior to academic year 2023-24
  • If a student does not claim the scholarship by 31 July 2025 then the award will be removed and he/she will no longer be eligible to receive
  • This scholarship award does not apply to deferred entry. Where a scholarship has been awarded to a student who subsequently defers entry to the following academic year, the award will be withdrawn and the applicant will be considered again in line with the terms and conditions that apply in the new proposed year of entry
