Scholarship Overview

International Master's Award of Excellence (IMAE) is a type of scholarship which is offered at University of Waterloo to those international students who are pursuing a Masters Degree. This is a Merit Based Scholarship, which is provided to only maximum number of students, depending on the University. International Master's Award of Excellence (IMAE) are valued at CAD 2500 for maximum number of students, depending on the University who qualify from University of Waterloo. Also, the International Master's Award of Excellence (IMAE) helps students in reducing tuition on a trimester basis, offered in the first year of Masters Degree only. Applications for International Master's Award of Excellence (IMAE) at University of Waterloo are filed separately. Bachelor degree is required for applicants to be eligible for this scholarship. Along with the International Master's Award of Excellence (IMAE) application. The eligibility of the students to qualify for International Master's Award of Excellence (IMAE) would solely depend on the applicant’s admission to University of Waterloo Masters Degree, his/her aptitude for an overall contribution towards University of Waterloo community and of course the academic achievements.

  • International graduate students registered full-time in an MA, MASC, MES, MFA, MMATH (except coursework programs) or MSC (except coursework programs) degree program are eligible for this scholarship
  • MA Economics students registered in Master's Research Paperwork are eligible

Max scholarship per student: CAD 2,500 => Rs 1,51,875

Conversion rate used: 1 CAD = Rs. 60.44 (last updated 25th November 2024)

Eligibility

  • International graduate students, with a valid Canadian study permit, registered full time in a MA, MASC, MES, MFA, MMATH (except coursework programs) or MSC (except coursework programs) degree program will receive an IMSA for 2 years (up to term 6.0). 
  • Students must meet the academic progress requirements of their program, not have outstanding probationary admission requirements, and not be concurrently receiving tuition awards (e.g., PSI or Lazaridis Tuition Awards) or funding which exceeds the minimum PhD funding value from any external awards, sponsorships or self-funding.
