Eligibility

  • Applicant must be an undergrad, who is, by reason of personal and/or family necessity and with regard to personal and educational expenses, largely selfsupporting
  • Applicants must have a GPA which places him/her in the upper 1/3 of undergrad engineering students currently enrolled, register for no less than 6 nor more than 12 credit hours per semester; however, a prior recipient will not be precluded from applying for or receiving a subsequent scholarship, if by virtue of the funds received from this grant, he/she is able to register as a full time student
  • Have, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, demonstrated the ability and the perseverance required to complete an undergrad degree in engineering
  • The scholarships available through the Cullen College of Engineering Dean's Office are competitive and in general require:
    • UH Cumulative GPA: 3.0
    • UH Major GPA: 3.0
    • Additional criteria: Successful completion of ENGI 1100, ENGI 1331, and one of the following courses that is required on your major degree plan:
      • BIOE 2331
      • CHEE 2331
      • CIVE 2330
      • ECE 2201
      • INDE 2333
      • MECE 2336
      • PETR 2311

Preference will be given to following candidates:

  • Preference should be given to students who are graduates of a high school in the greater Houston Metropolitan area

Additional Information

  • The recipient(s) of the scholarship(s) will be determined by a selection committee appointed by the Dean of the Cullen College of Engineering, such committee to include at least one faculty member involved in the instruction of evening students. The Dean of the Cullen College of Engineering will have administering control over distributed income
  • NOTE: Not all of the Engineering Undergraduate Scholarships qualify for a tuition waiver

  • Students will only be allowed to complete one (1) application as it is sufficient to be considered for all Dean’s Office Undergraduate Scholarships. It is recommended to complete this application on the computer and not a phone or tablet to avoid mistakes
