Scholarship Overview

  • The Linda Ghan Memorial Bursary was established in her honour in 2011
  • Originally from Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Linda Ghan was an accomplished author of fiction, drama and journalism. Her first novel, A Gift Of Sky, had two editions in Canada and was published in translation in Japan.
  • Linda Ghan passed away at age 63 after a long and courageous fight against cancer. For many years she taught Creative Writing at Concordia University and was a fiction editor at Matrix Magazine.

Qualifcation requirements:

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science program in any discipline in Pure or Applied Sciences, as well as full-time students in the Bachelor of Engineering program in any discipline of study
  • Applicants must be in acceptable academic standing, with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.00
  • Applicants must demonstarte financial need

Application Process for this scholarship

  • In-Course Bursaries are awarded by the Financial Aid and Awards Office to previously admitted students following an application-based competition that includes a financial need test and holistic committee review
  • Applicants are notified of the results after the Financial Aid and Awards Office receives results from the bursary committee.
  • To apply to the In-course Bursary program, an application form must be submitted online along with various supporting documents.
  • Required forms- In order to be eligible, you must complete three steps found in your SIS portal:

      Step 1: Aid Declaration 

      Step 2: Need Analysis 

      Step 3: Entrance Bursary application

  • How to apply- 
    • Log into your Student Centre and click on Apply for Bursaries or Scholarships (on the left side of your screen)
    • Choose Aid Year 2023
    • Complete your Aid Declaration
    • Complete your Needs Analysis
    • Complete the In-Course Bursary application
  • Once your application is complete and you are ready to submit, click on I Agree. Keep in mind that you will not be able to modify your application once you have submitted it.
  • If you need to upload supporting documents, the application system will automatically create a To Do list. 
  • To upload a document, choose In-Course Bursary Required Document on the dropdown list. In the Custom Description field, write a brief description of the document, then complete and save it.
