Scholarship Overview

Maastricht University offers the Maastricht University Holland-High Potential scholarship. This one time scholarship offered by the International Students Office of Maastricht University awards scholarships to degree-seeking students who have specified financial needs. Note that a large portion of the scholarship funds come from International student tuition. Maastricht University Holland-High Potential scholarship is applicable for Masters Degree. The award is applicable for the courses like MSc in International Business with a specialisation in Entrepreneurship & SME Management. If we consider the amount of the Maastricht University Holland-High Potential scholarship, then it varies each semester. The applicants should review the scholarship application in order to fully understand the availability and amount for that particular semester. To be eligible for the award, applicants must have completed their 12th grade and also possess a Bachelor degree. To be eligible for this award, international students must take English language examinations as well as standardised exams like TOEFL, IELTS, GRE and GMAT. Eligibility

• Applicants must hold a bachelor degree
• GRE/GMAT
  • GMAT with a minimum score of 550, with an Analytical Writing Assessment score of 4.0 or higher

Applicants:

• Must hold nationality in a country outside the EU/EEA and meet the requirements for obtaining an entry visa and residence permit for the Netherlands
• Must have applied for admission to a full-time Master’s programme at Maastricht University
• Must have never participated in a degree-seeking higher education programme, a primary education programme, or secondary education programme in the Netherlands Students who completed exchange programmes in the Netherlands are welcome to apply
• Must not be over 35 years of age
• Must have obtained excellent results during prior education programmes, as demonstrated by the latest grade transcript or certified by academic excellence
• If several applicants are equally qualified, University will give preference to applicants whose academic transcript or certified letter of academic excellence demonstrate that they are among the top 5% of the 2021/22 scholarship programme applicants

  • Your letter of motivation should be up-to-date and specifically tailored to this scholarship programme. Generic letters of admission that do not directly address your motivation for UM Holland-High Potential scholarship selection will be rejected. Your letter of motivation should be no longer than 1 A4 page. Be sure to argue why this scholarship is important to you, why you should be selected, and what your role as an ambassador of Maastricht University would be during your scholarship period, and during the upcoming years after you finish your studies at UM.
• Proof of academic excellence 
  • University transcript that explicitly states grade point average or class ranking (i.e. first class honors) for entire study programme; or, 
  • A letter signed by institution’s Head of Department or Registrar stating that the applicant is one of the top 20 students in the graduating year of their study programme
  • Please ensure that the letter contains the contact details of Head of Department or Registrar

• Personal statement of financial needs. Please explain why you would benefit from being awarded a scholarship and describe your personal circumstances such as financial difficulty, sole parent/caretaking responsibilities, medical condition, disability, refugee status etc.
